The Pittsburgh Steelers still do not have a resolution when it comes to future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Despite the expectation that Rodgers will sign with the team, the two sides have yet to agree to anything concrete.
Rodgers remains a free agent. Seemingly every day, a new report or rumor comes out about his future.
While it still seems likely that the 41-year-old quarterback will sign with the Steelers, something needs to get done soon. Pittsburgh players are not enthused by the ongoing drama surrounding the quarterback situation.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero has issued a new report, sharing that the players are ready for the situation to be over.
"There are people in that locker room who I believe would tell you they're already over this entire thing," Pelissero said. "They just wanna know what's going on. And they're sick of hearing about it, and they're sick of asking about it. They don't wanna discuss it anymore."
Pelissero continued on to talk about how rare this kind of situation actually is, and that scenario was also connected indirectly to Rodgers.
"I can't think of another situation like this since probably the guy who preceded Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay when Brett Favre took it all the way to August 18th with the Vikings and then showed up," Pelissero said.
Pittsburgh has remained patient with Rodgers. Bringing him onboard would make the Steelers a legitimate Super Bowl contender. While people are getting frustrated, the reasoning behind the team waiting makes perfect sense.

Last season with the New York Jets, Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing 63 percent of his passes. Those numbers would be a huge upgrade for Pittsburgh.
Expect to hear a lot more about Rodgers in the coming days. The Steelers will be opening training camp in July. At that point, the veteran quarterback should be in town if he's going to play for the team in 2025.
Missing OTAs was a disappointment for the fans and players. Hopefully, the team can get a final answer from Rodgers at some point in the next couple of weeks at the latest.

Steelers Aiming to Make T.J. Watt Contract Decision After Rumors Surface

Steelers Aiming to Make T.J. Watt Contract Decision After Rumors Surface originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt has been the heart of the team's defense after being drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Advertisement He's led the NFL in sacks in three seasons, achieved First-Team All-Pro honors four times, and won NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. In 2021, Watt tied the NFL record for having the most sacks in a single season (22.5), and he's helped the Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league throughout his career. Brett Davis/USA TODAY Sports As the league creeps towards the start of the 2025 season, Watt will be heading into his final year of the four-year, $112 million deal he signed in 2021 and has been looking to ink a new deal with the Steelers. With top NFL edge rushers landing major paydays this offseason – including the Browns' Myles Garrett (four years, $204.8 million) and the Raiders' Maxx Crosby (three years, $106.5 million) – T.J. Watt is expected to land a similar deal. Update on contract extension between Steelers and T.J. Watt Pittsburgh had the opportunity to get the deal done with Watt before other top players in the position agreed to large pay days, but the Steelers have decided to stay patient in the contract extension process. Advertisement An update on the negotiations was released on Monday. "The Steelers have been discussing a new contract with outside linebacker T.J. Watt with the expectation they will come to some agreement with the four-time All-Pro and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year before the start of the regular season," per the Post-Gazette. The Pittsburgh Steelers kick off their regular season on September 7 as they take on the New York Jets. As the team began OTAs last week, it's clear they still have plenty to sort out, including questions at the quarterback position. As time keeps ticking, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to get a lot of questions answered before the 2025 season begins. Kenneth Gainwell Previews Role With Steelers

Kenneth Gainwell Previews Role With Steelers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers recreated their running back room after the departure of Najee Harris this offseason, using three different means of player acquisition. They placed a second-round tender on Jaylen Warren to keep him in the building, signed Kenneth Gainwell to a one-year, $1.79 million deal, and drafted Iowa's Kaleb Johnson in Round 3. Advertisement In doing so, the Steelers have retained a steady hand while injecting youth and versatility into the running back room. Massive improvement on the ground would be a lofty expectation, but Pittsburgh's offense should look different on early downs, especially without a mobile quarterback under center. Warren is set to start, and Johnson will certainly get his chances to earn playing time. Gainwell, though, doesn't yet know what his season will look like. During organized team activities, Gainwell previewed his role in the Steelers' backfield. 'Man, it's been exciting,' Gainwell said, via Chris Adamski. 'Seeing Jaylen's power, seeing Jaylen's work ethic, that's the same way I attack the game. I feel like we can rely off each other real good. And then bringing 'K.J.' on along with us, man, I think it's going to be a great show. So, you know, hopefully, you're all ready for it.' Advertisement Gainwell has generally carved out a role on passing downs, but his versatility has earned him playing time in a smattering of roles. Most importantly, Gainwell has proven himself to be trustworthy. He has just five career fumbles. In two of his four seasons, he didn't cough the ball up at all. Further, Gainwell is the type of addition that reinforces the culture head coach Mike Tomlin is so often lauded for building. His technique is proper, and while he's not a home-run hitter, he's earned his coaches' trust despite continuous turnover in Philadelphia. He'll hope to bring some of what he learned to the other side of the state. 'I'm trying to bring in a winning attitude each and every day,' said Gainwell, a running back who was part of six postseason victories in nine tries with the Eagles since 2021. 'The way I carry myself in a building, the way I come out here on the field and attack the work and just continue to grind each and every day and just bring an attitude of championship winning each and every day. And show these guys that it can be done.' Advertisement Gainwell, with four years of experience and two Super Bowl appearances to his name, has a lot to offer the Pittsburgh backfield, even if it comes in a depth capacity. Eagles Should Resist Kyle Pitts Temptation and Trust Dallas Goedert

Eagles Should Resist Kyle Pitts Temptation and Trust Dallas Goedert originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While Kyle Pitts represents intriguing upside potential, trading for him to replace Dallas Goedert would be a risky move that doesn't align with the Eagles' championship window. Goedert's proven playoff production and newly restructured deal make him the safer choice for 2025. Advertisement With reports that multiple teams have reached out to the Atlanta Falcons about Kyle Pitts' availability, some analysts wonder if the Eagles should pursue the former fourth overall pick as a replacement for Dallas Goedert. After months of uncertainty, the Eagles and Goedert agreed to a restructured contract paying him $10 million for 2025, with $1 million in potential incentives. Pitts remains one of the NFL's most tantalizing "what if" players. At 24 years old and earning $10.9 million on his fifth-year option, he's nearly identical to Goedert in cost while offering significant upside. The former Florida star burst onto the scene as a rookie with 68 catches for 1,026 yards, becoming just the second tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 yards as a rookie. His physical tools at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds remain unquestioned. However, since that stellar rookie campaign, Pitts has struggled with both health and production. He has just 1,625 receiving yards over the past three seasons combined, managing only 602 yards and four touchdowns last season on 47 receptions. Those numbers pale in comparison to what the Eagles need from their primary tight end. While Goedert has dealt with injuries, missing 15 games over the past three seasons, his production when healthy has been consistently strong. Most importantly, he's delivered in the biggest moments. In 12 career playoff games, Goedert has 52 catches for 562 yards and four touchdowns. He led the Eagles with 17 receptions for 215 yards and a touchdown during their recent Super Bowl run, with those 215 yards ranking as the second-most ever by an Eagle in a single postseason. Advertisement The financial considerations also favor keeping Goedert. Reports suggest Atlanta would require at least a second- or third-round pick for Pitts. For a defending champion with limited draft capital, spending premium picks on a position where they already have a proven commodity seems counterproductive. The Eagles have improved their tight end depth with Grant Calcaterra's development and the additions of Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson. While Pitts undoubtedly possesses elite physical tools, the timing doesn't align with the Eagles' current priorities. Goedert represents a known quantity who has delivered in championship moments at a reasonable price. For a franchise focused on defending their title, the safer play is riding with the veteran who has already proven he can perform on the biggest stage. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
