Colin Trevorrow couldn't 'engage' with Star Wars after leaving project
The 48-year-old filmmaker was in the process of developing Star Wars: Duel of the Fates - which ultimately became Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker - when he parted ways with the studio over creative differences, and it is only now he is considering watching spin-off TV show Andor because he has had to distance himself from the franchise.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: 'My son and I have both decided that we are going to watch all of Andor this summer. But I do have to be honest; it has been a struggle for me to engage with anything Star Wars-related just on an emotional level.
'So, to the team that made Andor, I guess I can say that you're the ones who've finally brought me back in.'
Leaving Star Wars allowed Colin to work on Jurassic World Dominion, and while the 2022 film was pitched as "the epic conclusion of the Jurassic era", he isn't surprised that a new movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, will be released this year.
He said: "No, I wasn't [surprised. I was so deeply entrenched in what we were building over all of that time. It wasn't just the films and the two animated series on Netflix; we have the toys and the theme parks and everything else that we did.
"So we built something that's strong enough to move forward, and I'm very proud of that.
"I also know that pretty much every time a child is born, a new dinosaur fan is born. So I don't think the interest in seeing dinosaurs is ever really going to run out."
Meanwhile, Colin wants to help up-and-coming filmmakers further their careers through his production company Metronome.
He said: 'Because I've had some success in my career, my absolute top priority is not just paying it forward, but also being able to introduce new talent to move us forward.
"We don't have farm teams in Hollywood, and I think that it's a responsibility of filmmakers to identify who's next. A lot of these icons that we have now were identified by another filmmaker, and that's something I would love to have on my record.'

Comedian coming to Perth reveals most signed body part
There's only one conversation where boobs and Adam Sandler get mentioned — an interview with comedian Urzila Carlson. The Australian and New Zealand comedy star has been touring the country and on August 29 will bring her You Don't Say show to Perth's HPC across two days. Carlson, who grew up in South Africa, said Perth fans can expect an hour and a half of 'solid laughs'. 'You're not going to learn anything or cry, but I just talk about stuff that has happened in the year, and, yeah, it's a funny show, and people seem to love it, and I love it. I think it's my favourite show that I've done so far,' she said. The 49-year-old said one major standout for her this tour was the number of bosoms she has signed. 'I must say, this year, so far, I've signed more boobs than any other year in my entire career, maybe even accumulatively, I've never signed as many boobs,' she said. 'But yeah, one of the shows, because normally people just pull a blouse down and go, 'Can you sign my boob?' And then I sign the boob. But then this woman took her entire t*t out, and it was quite a sight.' While signing body parts may or may not be on the cards for Carlson's Perth visit, she has fond memories of WA that include a trip to the island paradise that is Rottnest Island. I just laid in the grass, and it came up, and it put its little nose against my nose. But I never touched it. It touched me, for the record,' she said. 'I just love Perth and I've even been on the outskirts of Perth, you know, when you're still in WA but you're like a 20 hours drive away, that kind of thing.' Another favourite adventure of the regular Have You Been Paying Attention? guest was the time she starred in Netflix film Kinda Pregnant alongside Amy Shumer which was produced by Adam Sandler. Carlson said she was 'star-struck' after meeting Sandler who she said gave her the ultimate compliment. 'He's really cool. He's kind of quiet but he just came up to me and goes, 'You're really funny, buddy. You're very funny.' I don't often feel starstruck, but yeah, meeting him and meeting him was the highlight for me during the whole thing. 'I don't need anyone else to tell me nothing else. I've got Adam Sandler in the pocket, and he says I'm funny. 'I've blocked all reviewers from coming to my show.' Carlson said filming her first movie was 'so much fun' especially getting to work with fellow comedians who she still texts and sends 'video notes' daily. 'We would just sit in the green room and crack each other up. Hardly anyone sat in their trailers,' she said. 'I said to them, you've ruined this experience because if I get to make another movie and those people aren't as amazing as these people are, I'm going to be furious.' Kinda Pregnant was viewed 25.1 million times in its first week, making it the most-watched title on Netflix from February 3 to February 10 and the number one movie globally. With her first film done and dusted, Carlson is set to tick off another bucket list item — performing at the Sydney Opera House for an encore show on December 13. 'The fact that I get to perform at one of those is one of the most iconic unreal feelings. 'But I think the worry that I have is, you know what Australia is like in summer and I'm going to be outside with bright lights on me, so you bet I'm going to have some bugs fly straight into my face at night. 'So I'm thinking I should get one of those hats with the corks on it. I've never actually worn one, you know. But I think if ever there was a time, it would be during that show.' Elsewhere, Carlson is working on two different, Australian produced TV projects that plan to be out early next year. She also plans to continue touring and appear on her usual TV shows unless 'I get a call from Adam Sandler or someone, then of course, I'll go.' Mark Hamill compares new film Life of Chuck to It's A Wonderful Life
Mark Hamill says his new film The Life of Chuck reminds him of It's A Wonderful Life. The 73-year-old actor - most famous for playing Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise - portrays Albie Krantz, the paternal grandfather of Tom Hiddleston's titular protagonist Charles "Chuck" Krantz, an accountant who grows up loving dance. Hamill says the fantasy drama - which tells the story of Chuck's life in reverse concentrating on the most important moments - has a lot in common with the acclaimed 1946 Christmas film which stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a kind-hearted man who contemplates his life one Christmas Eve and is shown what the world would look like if he had never existed by his guardian angel Clarence Odbody. Mark said: "It reminds me of It's A Wonderful Life for our times. Even though it's not mimicking that film, the effect of it is. When I saw It's A Wonderful Life it just warms your heart. "The way it teaches you that every moment that might seem insignificant until, in relation, they are the most important moments in your life. It's optimistic and the characters actually do the right things for the right reasons, I don't think there's any real villains." Hamill says that director Mike Flanagan has included so many layers to the story and hidden messages in The Life of Chuck that his wife Marilou has watched the film five times and still is finding new things in it. He shared: "My wife saw it five times and she says she always gets something new. "I have to confess I was in the film and it wasn't until the Toronto Film Festival that I went, 'Oh, I get that now.' They don't lay it in your lap. It's something that people will experience through their own lens, it's so relatable." When Hamill was contacted by Flanagan, 47, about playing Albie alongside "wonderful actors" like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mia Sara and Matthew Lillard among others he was told the film was based on a Stephen King novella. As it was a King story, Mark was convinced that he'd be acting in a horror movie and was totally surprised by the story for The Life of Chuck. In an interview on This Morning, he said: "I was unprepared for it. When Mike called and said, 'I have something for you in a new Stephen King novella,' I'm ready for the epic supernatural horror film ... It's unlike anything he's ever done."

Oscar Isaac would return to Star Wars as Poe Dameron
Oscar Isaac would reprise his role as Poe Dameron for the right Star Wars project. The 46-year-old actor played the Resistance X-wing pilot in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, first being introduced to a galaxy far, far away in 2015's The Force Awakens. Oscar is proud to have played Poe and be part of the iconic sci-fi series and he would be open to a return to that franchise if there was a film or TV series that appealed to him. When asked by Variety if he would return as Poe, he answered: "Yeah, I'd be a Star Wars again if there was something good to do with that.' Daisy Ridely is returning as Jedi Rey for a new movie which is a continuation of the Star Wars timeline which Poe is part of. Isaac can next be seen in Guillermo del Toro's new Frankenstein film for Netflix, which is based on Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel of the same name. He plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the scientist who creates a living creature from multiple human body parts, and Oscar admits his interpretation of the character is partly inspired by late Purple Rain singer Prince, in terms of how he moves. He said: "I saw him much more as an artist than as a scientist. I watched a video of Prince going to the Super Bowl in order to rehearse. And I just basically stole his walk when he's going up to the stage with his hands behind the back.' Isaac was Guillermo's first choice to play Dr. Victor Frankenstein opposite Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein's monster and he can recall being emotionally moved by the filmmaker's script for his version of the famous story. The pair first met over lunch and The Shape of the Water filmmaker Guillermo told his leading man he was "making a feast". That meeting was followed a year later when del Toro presented Isaac with a script and as the actor got to the last page the pair "were just crying". Isaac said: "There's just so much pain there.'
