ITV Shardlake: Full cast list and when it will be on TV
The historical mystery novels are set during the reign of King Henry VIII during the 16th Century.
This was brought to life in a four-part series, which was released on Disney in 2024, and now the episodes will be broadcast on ITV1 over the coming weeks.
The series will follow Matthew Shardlake (Hughes), a 16th-century lawyer tasked with investigating a murder at a monastery.
A synopsis on the Radio Times website says: "Idealistic lawyer Matthew Shardlake (Arthur Hughes) works for Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) and is dedicated to serving justice and the Crown.
"He is flanked by cocky assistant Jack Barak (Anthony Boyle), who could be a spy for Cromwell.
"Shardlake is living with scoliosis and is rudely dismissed as a 'crookback' by Tudor society as he carries out his duties.
"Weathering the verbal abuse, Shardlake and Barak travel to the remote town of Scarnsea to investigate the murder of a commissioner, who was gathering evidence for Cromwell to close the local monastery."
Discussing the show, writer Stephen Butchard explained how, despite the historical setting, there were plenty of aspects that could relate to modern times.
As reported by the Radio Times, he said: "We don't change. This is the 16th century, but the same things are going on today.
"With the dissolution of the monasteries, the money was supposedly going for the benefit of the common people, but that didn't happen, it ended up in the hands of the king and Cromwell.
"And that happens today. Contracts [...] end up going to friends of [politicians], and fast-tracks and stuff like that.
"We do not change, politicians don't change. But the good thing also is that there are always good people and that's what this is about. This is about good men, good women, it's about the good people just as much as it is about the villainous people."
Disney Plus confirmed in January 2025 that they were not planning to make another series of Shardlake, despite there being more books to potentially adapt.

The 'clever' way Disney World staff check for lice in kids
It may look like a kind and caring act, but Disney Word staff members actually have a sneaky way of checking for lice in children. Guests at the Happiest Place on Earth can pay to have their kids transformed into a dazzling princess or handsome knight through the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom. It comes complete with royal treatment including getting their hair, makeup, and nails done. One mom has now revealed the subtle method that employees, dubbed 'Fairy Godmothers,' use to ensure little boys or girls don't have any creepy crawlers in their hair before they get started - and it's left the internet shocked. The mom shared what appeared to be a sweet moment between a Fairy Godmother and her young daughter to TikTok back in March. The staff member was seen standing behind the little girl as she look at herself in the mirror. As she was chatting to the youngster, the woman casually played with her hair and showed her some of the styles she could get. 'You have Rapunzel hair,' she said to the delighted girl, as she held strands of hair out to the side, and then in pigtails. 'We could also bring your hair all the way to the top,' the Fairy Godmother told the child, holding her hair up at the top of her head. While on first glance it seems like she's just having fun with the girl, the mom explained that she was actually carefully checking her back of her head for lice. 'I didn't even realize what they were doing until I re-watched the video,' the mom wrote. 'Literally making every moment magical even while checking for lice at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.' The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom is a beauty salon for little ones that promises a fairytale look. As per the website, 'With the wave of a magic wand - plus a few hands-on tricks of the trade - our Fairy Godmother's Apprentices will pamper and primp your child until they look storybook stunning.' Viewers were impressed by Disney's sneaky trick, and rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts. 'That's a sweet and creative way to disguise it,' gushed one user. 'This is why hairstylist play with your hair when you're explaining what you want by the way! they taught us that in school,' a hairdresser commented. Someone else pointed out: 'It's not just checking for lice - it's also checking for any rashes, skin issues, cuts/broken skin. 'Anything that could react to whatever they're putting on your head. It's for their safety and yours.' On the website, it states that guests 'must be free of any scalp or skin conditions that may impact or interrupt the experience.' Last year, a different mom was left horrified after she claimed her daughter was told she couldn't undergo a magical makeover. Alabama mom Holly Kelley said she was told by cast members they couldn't style her child's hair because she had lice - but she claimed it was just dandruff. 'I told them, "No, it [is] dandruff,' Kelley wrote in an online review, as per an article on 'As a former elementary school teacher and as a current Girl Scout leader, I've seen children affected by lice, and I am able to tell the difference,' she insisted. Kelley claimed they then changed their tune and said her daughter had a 'skin condition.' 'They said they just observed a "skin condition" and that Florida law would not allow them to do her hair,' she continued. 'When I asked what the law was, no one could seem to give me a copy of the law or tell me exactly what it said other than it couldn't be anything [contagious].' 'I'm just really upset by this experience, mainly because it so sorely upset my daughter, so much so that for a while, she wanted to go home. 'They wouldn't tell me 100 percent if she had lice; they said they couldn't confirm it because they weren't qualified.'

Love Island star spent over £2,000 on clothes before entering villa
EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Shakira Khan has spent a huge amount of clothes, beauty products and other essentials to ensure she's villa-ready - and has opened up about her thoughts on sex in the villa Love Island's Shakira Khan, 22, has lit up the villa as the 12th series kicks off with the usual mix of drama, romance, and jaw-dropping twists. But before the cameras start rolling, Shakira's been busy preparing in true style - dropping over £2,000 on clothes, beauty must-haves, and other essentials to ensure she's villa-ready from day one. 'I wasn't messing about,' she tells us exclusively. 'I've got three suitcases packed with everything I might need. I even bought things last year just in case.' Clearly, this isn't Shakira's first rodeo when it comes to being camera-ready, and she's pulling out all the stops to make an impact. Away from the glitz and glamour, Shakira's real-life job is as a children's entertainer, specialising in kids' parties dressed as Disney princesses. Asked which princess she relates to most, she's quick to pick Princess Jasmine: 'She's rebellious, strong, knows what she wants, and she's adventurous - definitely Jasmine.' Her career has also seen her rubbing shoulders with some pretty high-profile clients. 'I've hosted parties for Premier League footballers, reality stars, and other big names,' Shakira admits. 'Can't say who, though - NDAs and all that! But trust me, we've seen some big houses.' Glow-boosting Liz Earle set that leaves skin 'dewy and refreshed' is slashed by £28 With ITV confirming they'll show any villa sex scenes this year, we couldn't resist asking Shakira about her stance on intimacy in the villa. 'I've talked to my mum and dad about it - it's a big no-no,' she says firmly. 'Personally, I wouldn't do it anyway. Eight weeks isn't that long for me.' Love Island fans, get ready. Shakira's arrival promises plenty of fun, fierce energy, and maybe a little bit of drama - but when it comes to love, she's playing it cool. But playing it cool could lead to heartbreak as a new bombshell arrives in tonight's episode. One Love Island star has already been dumped from the villa before the show even airs. Those tuning in this evening will see a cruel twist as one Islander is sent packing - just moments after arriving in the villa. It has been revealed that one girl will be sent packing this evening after the instant arrival of a bombshell. Just yesterday, it was announced that Toni - a VIP waitress who works in one of Las Vegas' fancy hotels - would be entering the villa. Asked what she was looking for, she said she needed "someone that can make me laugh - I'm super outgoing. And someone that's quite active. Maybe one day we could start our own family together. "It's time to try something new! I have some British friends and they're pretty charming. I think all Americans love a good accent. British men are just more polite, with better manners." Now, her arrival will mean that one of the initial Love Island stars will be axed within hours of arriving. With filming already underway, the person has been sent packing from the villa - with it set to air this evening during the launch show. "This girl will be sorely missed as was already proving to be a big character. The was absolutely gutted to leave. But the series has twists and turns at every stage and this isn't the usual dumping viewers might expect after a bombshell arrives," a source told The Sun. "Executive producer Mike Spencer-Hayter has promised drama for the tenth anniversary and this format point will not disappoint." Love Island 2025 begins tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
