Automotive Care Industry: An Old Industry in a New Digital-First Market

For over a century, the automotive care industry has hummed along, a vital part of our transportation infrastructure. From dusty garages offering oil changes to sprawling dealerships with state-of-the-art service bays, the core of the business has remained largely tangible: hands-on work on physical vehicles. But in today's rapidly evolving digital-first market, this established industry faces both exciting opportunities and significant challenges.
Here in California, and across cities in the United States, we're seeing this shift firsthand. Consumers, accustomed to instant information and seamless online experiences in nearly every other aspect of their lives, are now bringing those expectations to how they care for their cars. The old ways of relying solely on word-of-mouth or Yellow Pages listings are no longer enough.
The Digital Disruption is Here:
The internet has empowered car owners like never before. They research repair options, compare prices, read reviews, and even try DIY fixes armed with YouTube tutorials. They expect online booking, transparent pricing, and digital communication. Over 70% of car owners now search online before choosing a local auto shop or smog check station. For automotive care businesses, ignoring this digital transformation is no longer an option – it's a path towards becoming obsolete.
As platforms like Vehicle Care Network emerge, offering professional car care services with a focus on efficient solutions and skilled technicians, the industry is clearly moving towards a more accessible, digital-first approach. Similarly, for California-specific needs like smog checks, services like Smog Check Network are revolutionizing how drivers find and book certified stations, offering online payments, appointment management, and upfront pricing. This not only benefits the consumer but also provides powerful tools for stations to thrive in a competitive online environment.
The automotive care industry faces several significant challenges in today's digital-first market, starting with reaching the modern customer who spends more time online than physically searching for a mechanic. This necessitates finding effective ways to cut through digital noise and attract new clients. Another hurdle is building trust online in an industry where credibility is paramount; businesses must find ways to establish relationships with customers they haven't met in person, with online reviews and digital testimonials are becoming critical for demonstrating reliability and customer satisfaction.
Furthermore, transparency in pricing is now non-negotiable, as customers demand clear, upfront explanations and costs for services, pushing traditional businesses to adapt profitably. This shift also requires adapting to new technologies, from online scheduling systems to digital vehicle inspections, all of which demand significant investment and training. Finally, the rise of online retailers and DIY culture has empowered many car owners to order parts online and access repair information, enabling them to tackle more maintenance themselves.
Despite the challenges posed by the digital-first market, significant opportunities abound for automotive care businesses willing to adapt. A robust online presence can dramatically expand reach, attracting customers from a broader geographical area than traditional marketing methods. Digital communication tools, email marketing, and social media offer enhanced customer engagement, fostering stronger relationships and building loyalty. Operations can be streamlined through online booking systems, digital record-keeping, and automated reminders, leading to improved efficiency and reduced administrative burdens.
Moreover, tracking online activity and customer interactions provides invaluable data-driven insights for understanding needs and optimizing services. Building a strong brand reputation is also a key benefit, as online reviews and testimonials, often highlighted on platforms like Vehicle Care Network, become powerful tools for building trust and attracting new customers. Finally, the digital space facilitates specialization and niche marketing, enabling businesses to target specific customer segments and effectively promote their unique expertise, such as electric vehicle maintenance or specialized European car repair, while platforms like Smog Check Network, demonstrate how online tools can simplify compliance and transaction management.
For automotive care businesses in California and beyond to thrive in this new era, a strategic approach to digital transformation is crucial, encompassing the establishment of a professional online presence through a user-friendly website, active social media profiles, and listings in relevant online directories like VehicleCareNetwork and SmogCheckNetwork. This also involves embracing online booking and communication by offering convenient online scheduling and utilizing email and text messaging for appointment reminders and updates to enhance customer experience.
Prioritizing transparency is key, with businesses providing clear pricing information and digital vehicle inspection reports, as exemplified by SmogCheckNetwork's upfront listing of prices and California Certificate fees. Furthermore, actively soliciting and responding to online reviews is vital for managing online reputation and attracting new customers, while investing in digital marketing, online search optimization, and targeted online advertising can significantly increase visibility. Finally, continuous adaptation and learning are paramount, as the ever-evolving digital landscape necessitates staying informed about new technologies and best practices.
The automotive care industry may be rooted in tradition, but its future lies in embracing the digital-first market. By strategically leveraging online tools and technologies, as demonstrated by the innovative approaches of Smog Check Network (available at www.smogcheck.net) and Vehicle Care Network (available at www.vehiclecarenetwork.com), businesses can not only survive but thrive in this exciting new landscape, ensuring that they continue to serve the transportation needs of communities like ours for generations to come.

Unity's AI Platform Vector Shows Early Wins: Can Growth Accelerate?

Unity Software Inc. U delivered a strong second-quarter 2025, with its newly launched AI-powered ad platform, Unity Vector, emerging as a clear growth catalyst. Vector, a neural network-based upgrade to Unity's advertising engine, drove 15% sequential growth in the Unity Ad Network during the second quarter of 2025, with management guiding for double-digit sequential gains in the third quarter. This performance comes on top of stabilization in other ad products, setting the stage for mid-single-digit growth across the broader Grow makes Vector's early success notable is its scalability and potential longevity. The platform processes more data types in real time, delivering higher-quality installs and stronger return on ad spend for clients. Unity's reach, powering 70% of top mobile games, gives Vector unique behavioral data advantages, with the company planning to integrate runtime gameplay insights starting in Unity posted $440.9 million in the second-quarter revenue, down 1.9% year over year but ahead of estimates, while adjusted EBITDA of $90 million reflected 21% margins. Management emphasized that efficiency gains are enabling aggressive reinvestment into Vector and AI content creation without sacrificing key question for investors is sustainability. While Unity's early Vector adoption is broad-based and cannibalization is minimal (less than 10%), scaling returns across genres, geographies, and advertisers remains a multi-year effort. With high contribution margins and expanding partnerships in gaming, automotive, and healthcare, Unity has the runway to extend Vector's momentum — but execution in AI-driven ad optimization will determine if these early wins turn into a durable growth engine. Unity's Competitive Landscape Unity's rapid progress with Vector places it in direct competition with AppLovin Corporation APP and Digital Turbine, Inc. APPS — two established players in the mobile ad tech arena. AppLovin has built its reputation on advanced machine learning algorithms for ad targeting and monetization, with its AXON engine delivering strong advertiser ROI. While AppLovin enjoys scale and a broad advertiser base, Unity's deep integration into the game development pipeline offers a unique data edge that AppLovin Turbine focuses on mobile content discovery and app distribution, working closely with carriers and OEMs to deliver targeted user acquisition campaigns. Like AppLovin, Digital Turbine aims to maximize install quality and advertiser returns, but Unity's Vector benefits from first-party game runtime data that could give it a stronger long-term advantage. Outpacing AppLovin and Digital Turbine will require Unity to scale Vector's early performance gains across its entire ad ecosystem. YouTube Add New CTA Options for Promote, More Images in Community Posts

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. YouTube has announced a new update for Community Posts, while it's also adding new CTA options for in-stream promotions, and the capacity to edit auto-dubbed clips. First off, on Community Posts. YouTube's giving channel managers more ways to express themselves in their social-like updates, by increasing the number of images available in your posts. As per YouTube: 'Until now, creators could only upload five images per post on their channel. Now, creators will be able to upload up to 10 images per post.' So a pretty straightforward change, more images for your posts, which could facilitate more context, more engagement opportunities, etc. YouTube says that this option is being launched across all surfaces this week. YouTube's also making it easier to update clips in which you've applied auto-dubbing, with the system now able to re-process edited clips to ensure the dubbing is accurate. 'Creators will soon be able to use Studio Editor for videos that have automatic dubbing enabled. After changes are saved, the autodub tracks will be recreated to match the edits.' So you'll have more capacity to manage and maintain your videos that you've used auto-dubbing on, with YouTube now able to review those changes, and keep your content accessible in other languages. YouTube's gradually rolling out auto-dubbing to more users, with all verified creators now able to access the option. YouTube also notes that editing videos with manually uploaded multi-language captions is coming later this year. Finally, YouTube's also rolling out a new update for YouTube Promote, which will give creators more call-to-action (CTA) options for their promotions. As you can see in this example, YouTube will now provide more CTA button options to choose from when setting up your Promote campaigns. 'When a campaign is created with a goal of more website visits, creators can now identify a more granular desired outcome such as 'Book Now,' 'Get Quote,' 'Contact Us,' etc. This is currently available only on desktop.' Creators can use Promote campaigns to boost their Shorts and/or videos directly from YouTube or YouTube Studio, without needing to go to Google Ads. Creators can also use Promote to get more channel subscribers, increase video views, and more. Some handy updates, without being game-changing, but providing more capacity to manage and maintain your YouTube content.
