As part of its participation in the event, held from April 26 to May 5, 2025, MBRF has unveiled a distinguished collection of publications and books, underscoring its strategic vision to promote knowledge and encourage a culture of reading through global platforms. This reflects MBRF's commitment to highlighting the significance of language, thought, and creativity in shaping a knowledge-driven and prosperous future.
This year, the MBRF pavilion will host a wide array of events under its flagship initiatives, most notably the Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW). DIPW will feature an engaging series of discussion panels focusing on the experiences of young and emerging writers, the influence of creative writing workshops on literary successes, narrative form choices between short stories and novels, and the significance of critique workshops in refining literary taste.
Furthermore, DIPW will explore the dynamic relationship between storytelling and inspiration, the pivotal role of creative translation as a cultural bridge, and the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the future of visual art and human creativity. Additional topics include the intersection of art and writing, the influence of children's storytelling, narrative experiences for young adults, and the journey from creative education to literary recognition.
At the core of MBRF's initiatives is the Digital Knowledge Hub (DKH), which will discuss key topics related to digital transformation and the evolution of knowledge dissemination. Discussions will focus on the development of Arabic digital content and platforms, establishing the DKH as a pioneering model in modern knowledge management. Additional topics to be explored include the future of information and knowledge production in the age of AI, the importance of lifelong learning through digital platforms, and AI applications in libraries and information institutions. DKH will also present the latest specialized publications in the field of knowledge sciences.
Knowledge Lounge will offer a comprehensive program covering various intellectual and literary subjects. This includes the relationship between Arabic narrative and the stereotypical image in the eyes of others, the evolving collaboration between novelists and screenwriters, the future of literature between reality and foresight, the Arab comics experience, and storytelling as an act of awareness.
Additionally, Knowledge Lounge will explore themes such as publishers' insights into reader behavior, the role of reading in fostering critical thinking, the idea of the 'text as narrator,' and the personal journeys of writers in the world of fiction. Insights will be shared on audio storytelling through podcasts, along with discussions on empowering adolescents through reading.
KnowTalks will explore critical societal topics, including youth empowerment, social transformation, and the contributions of Arab scholars to the knowledge renaissance. The series will also include sessions on building personal brands through social media and the impact of female leadership.
The Bil Arabi initiative will host an inspiring session to reinforce the use of the Arabic language in everyday and cultural settings, emphasizing its importance in shaping contemporary Arab identity. Create Production brings Vox Cinemas' sonic identity to life with Hans Zimmer

Create Production has joined forces with Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment to unveil Fall in Love with Film, Vox Cinemas' latest brand film that signals a new chapter for the region's premier cinema operator. The cinematic tribute, released in celebration of Vox Cinemas' 25th anniversary, is underscored by an original score and sonic identity created by legendary composer Hans Zimmer. The emotionally rich film is a love letter to the power of cinema, weaving together themes of love, community, and escapism. At its heart is the story of a young boy growing up with the cinema as his lifelong companion. The narrative is brought to life by Zimmer's evocative score, blending Hollywood-style orchestration with 90s nostalgia and Arabic musical elements. As part of Vox's broader 'experience-first' strategy to reconnect with audiences, Create Production oversaw the entire creative process, from script development to full-scale production across eight regional markets. The campaign produced more than 85 assets in a variety of languages, formats, and platforms, ranging from IMAX screens to social media reels. Create also led localisation efforts across four languages and dialects, ensuring cultural resonance throughout the region. Muhammad Ashraf, Senior Producer at Create Production, said: 'Working alongside the Vox Cinemas team to develop a film worthy of Hans Zimmer's signature sound was a true privilege. We set out to craft a narrative that celebrates Vox's magic and elevates the region's sonic identity.' The brand film is currently screening in Vox Cinemas across the Middle East, with additional distribution on digital platforms, social media, and out-of-home advertising. The custom sonic branding developed for the campaign will continue to roll out throughout 2025, becoming an integral part of the Vox experience—from cinema lobbies to customer service interactions. This project adds to Create Production's portfolio of landmark regional campaigns, continuing its track record of high-profile collaborations, including previous work with Zimmer and large-scale productions across the Middle East.

170 Emirati authors drive cultural dialogue at ADIBF

The UAE's creative industry – centred around the authors – took centre stage at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) 2025, organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) from April 26 April to May 5 under the theme 'Knowledge Illuminates Our Community.' The fair reported wide participation from stakeholders across the UAE's cultural landscape, including publishing houses, authors, writers, thinkers, researchers, and intellectuals. Their active engagement was integral to the fair's diverse programme, designed to reach all segments of society and age groups, in line with the UAE's designation of 2025 as the 'Year of Community.' The ADIBF sought to promote the growth of the local literary industry and reinforce national cultural identity. It honoured a distinguished group of Emirati creatives who have made lasting contributions to the sector's growth over the years, while encouraging emerging Emirati talent from across various cultural fields. These efforts reflect a continued commitment to sustainable cultural development and the advancement of the publishing sector. The 34th edition of the fair witnessed notable local engagement, with over 170 Emirati intellectuals and writers taking part in the programme's sessions and workshops. A total of 275 Emirati exhibitors participated in the event, alongside 70 government entities, each contributing a range of activities. The Arts Corner featured 28 artists, 22 of whom were Emirati, while the World Cuisine Corner hosted 48 sessions, featuring contributions from 24 internationally renowned chefs, including 12 Emiratis. A range of initiatives were launched at the ADIBF 2025 to support Emirati talent, most notably the 'Self-Publisher' initiative, which brought together 20 Emirati writers. The initiative was designed to showcase the work of national authors, facilitate direct engagement with their audiences, and enhance their visibility within the publishing community. The initiative also aimed to foster sustainable partnerships with publishers and expand marketing opportunities for Emirati literary works. Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the ALC and Director of the ADIBF, said: 'The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair saw extensive local participation from all sectors across the UAE. This played a pivotal role in consolidating the fair's position as a global cultural and knowledge platform, through which the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre introduced a novel vision for spreading knowledge and ensuring access to it for all age groups and segments of the community. To that end, the fair's agenda featured a set of programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting the publishing sector and enriching the UAE's publishing ecosystem with everything necessary for its continued advancement.' 'The fair also provided an opportunity for Emirati publishers to engage with their international counterparts, facilitating the exchange of expertise and dialogue on key issues and emerging trends in the publishing sector,' Al Tunaiji added. 'The fair's rich array of panel discussions, specialised workshops, and high-quality content provided essential knowledge for professionals in the field. It also offered various forms of support to enable Emirati publishers to hone their skills and capacities, contributing to the overall development of the industry.' 'Emirati creatives across a range of cultural and intellectual fields, including publishers, writers, poets, researchers, speakers, trainers, and cultural influencers, also maintained a strong presence at the fair,' he noted. 'The fair's programmes were designed to empower emerging talents in literature, culture, and the arts, offering training sessions and workshops to enhance their skills and creative capabilities. Moreover, a series of youth-focused activities were also introduced to explore and nurture their interests, preparing them to participate actively in the cultural and creative spheres.' 'These efforts reinforced the fair's mission to foster a culturally engaged and creatively empowered generation, aligned with the UAE's strategic vision for sustainable development,' Al Tunaiji concluded.
