Energy Transition Minerals (ASX:ETM)
Energy Transition Minerals has a near-term production opportunity for critical minerals in Europe after winning a bid for the Penouta tin-tantalum-niobium mine in Galicia, Spain.
The offer of €5.2million (A$9.2 million) was successful for the mine and processing plant, which is being acquired within the insolvency proceedings of Strategic Minerals Spain.
Penouta last operated in 2024 and is the only developed tin-tantalum-niobium project in the European Union.
This aligns Penouta and ETM with the EU's goal to increase critical mineral production and enhance supply chain security.
ETM shares reached 5.4c, an increase of 22.73% on the pre-trading halt close, before closing at 4.8c.
The successful bid will expand ETM's strategy beyond a single asset in Greenland, its Tier-1 Kvanefjeld rare earths project, into a multi-asset, EU-based operator.
ETM said this represented a deep value opportunity, with the mine and processing plant acquired for well below the €28m (A$49.8m) cost of historical investment including processing infrastructure.
ETM managing director Daniel Mamadou said securing the Penouta tin-tantalum-niobium mine was a huge opportunity for the company as it was the only recent producer of these critical metals in Europe, making it a uniquely strategic asset.
'This acquisition represents a compelling entry point into a near-term production opportunity for tin, tantalum and niobium, all of which are critical to Europe's industrial and technological ambitions,' he said.
'Importantly, Penouta also stands as the only current source of tantalum and niobium in the European Union, adding a key ethical dimension to sourcing conflict-free critical minerals.
'The upside for tantalum, particularly as an essential input for the semi-conductor industry, further enhances the strategic value of the acquisition.'
Mamadou said ETM was drawn to Penouta due to its significant established infrastructure and its deep alignment with Spain's critical minerals strategy.
Penouta has a Foreign Mineral Resource calculated in 2021 comprising an indicated and measured resource of 76.3Mt grading 149ppm tantalum pentoxide equivalent (443ppm tin and 73ppm tantalum). It also has an inferred 43-101 resource of 57Mt at 129ppm Ta2O5.
Alara Resources (ASX:AUQ)
Successful commissioning by Alara Resources of interim tailings filter presses (TFPs) at the copper-gold processing plant of Al Washhi Majaza Copper-Gold Project in Oman has resulted in a production boost.
The project is operated by Al Hadeetha Resources LLC (AHRL), in which Alara holds a 51% interest, and AUQ shares lifted 34.3% to a high of 4.3c.
Two new TFPs were sourced from China in a bid to overcome limitations with the existing press and enhance plant output.
The units are currently operating in semi-automatic mode under supervision of the original equipment manufacturer's representatives.
Prior to the new TFPs coming online AHRL had achieved some improvements in plant performance from an earlier stage when operational efficiency was only around 50%.
Over the past six months AHRL's operations team made substantial adjustments and modifications to the original TFP, increasing plant availability to about 65%.
With the interim TFPs now in operation the plant is expected to achieve at least 85-90% of its design production capacity – due to a significant reduction in unplanned stoppages and improved throughput.
As a result, projected monthly copper-gold concentrate production is expected to increase to an estimated 3000-3200 dry metric tonnes (DMT).
Alara managing director Atmavireshwar Sthapak said: 'Commissioning of the new interim filter presses is a key milestone for the Al Wash-hi plant.
'This upgrade enhances reliability and boosts capacity, strengthening our ability to achieve consistent, high-volume production. It reflects Alara's ongoing focus on operational excellence and delivering near-term value for shareholders.'
The acquisition of a permanent TFP is in progress which, once installed, is expected to enable the plant to operate at or near full design capacity.
Alara is continuing exploration at its other Omani projects, including the Block 7 exploration licence under the Daris JV, Mullaq and Al Ajal licences under the Al Hadeetha JV, Block 8 licence under the Awtad Copper-Power Metal JV and the recently awarded Block 22B exploration licence under the Al Hadeetha Mining LLC JV.
Infinity Mining (ASX:IMI)
High-grade gold results from rock chips at the Sir Walter Scott prospect in northeast NSW have given Infinity Mining another focal point at the Cangai copper project and shares were up 30% to a daily high of 1.3c.
Twelve rock chip samples collected in July 2025 have returned nine gold assays over 1 g/t with a maximum assay of 68.6 g/t.
Sir Walter Scottt, which lies ~3km south of the historical Cangai Copper Mine, was mined in the 1890s, producing 1,790oz Au from 2,203 tonnes at an average grade of ~25g/t.
The John Bull project of Novo Resources (ASX:NVO) is ~3km along strike to the NW and has recently reported anomalous rock chip samples and drill hole intercepts containing gold.
Infinity's technical team will return to Sir Walter Scott to undertake more detailed geological/structural mapping and surface geochemical sampling in the coming months to better understand its exploration potential.
Marquee Resources (ASX:MQR)
Australia's largest undeveloped antimony deposit covering the Mount Clement and Eastern Hills projects in WA is set to grow with Marquee Resources returning strong antimony results from first phase drilling at Mount Clement.
There were 1,346 metres drilled across seven RC holes and antimony was intersected in every hole.
Best results were:
8m at 1.05% Sb and 2.85% lead from 137m, including 4m at 1.35% Sb and 3.55% Pb from 137m;
8m at 1.02% Sb from 81m, including 4m at 1.48% from 81m;
2m at 1.96% Sb from 144m; and
3m at 1.27% Sb from 24m, including 1m at 2.31% from 25m.
Mt Clement is contiguous on the eastern flank of the Eastern Hills antimony resource owned by Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8).
Black Cat states that its portion of this deposit is Australia's largest undeveloped antimony project and the fourth largest antimony JORC resource in Australia comprising 794,000t at 1.7% Sb.
Marquee's maiden resource is expected to be reported before the end of August 2025 and phase 2 drilling will begin later this quarter.
TG Metals (ASX:TG6)
The foundations of Gold City prospect within TG Metals Van Uden gold project in WA have been strengthened with a series of new drill targets.
Soil assays from recent sampling have been combined with historical drill results to expand the area of interest around historical workings and generate new targets.
Historical drilling returned results such as 14m at 2.26g/t gold from a depth of 20m and 13m at 1.09g/t from 40m.
Chief executive officer David Selfe said that while Gold City was known to have gold mineralisation associated with historical workings, the new soil results demonstrated a significantly increased mineralised trend.
'The new soil results are analogous to those already seen over the mineralisation defined by historical drilling, which is clearly a positive sign,' he added.
'This potentially opens up the Gold City prospect as a significant second gold centre for the Van Uden gold project and a future expansion of our substantial resources base as we progress towards first production.'

Resources Top 5: Critica confirms Jupiter as Australia's largest magnet rare earth clay-hosted resource
Multiple MREO zones at Jupiter contain neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium Testwork identifies potential to produce gallium as a by-product at Leliyn graphite asset OD6 has produced high-quality MREC and MREH from Splinter Rock REE project Your standout small cap resources stocks for Wednesday, August 13, 2025 Critica (ASX:CRI) In what it considers to be a step-change in understanding the value potential of its flagship Jupiter rare earths project in WA, Critica has confirmed the project to be Australia's largest and highest-grade clay-hosted magnet rare earth resource. The step-change comes as magnet rare earth oxides (MREO) are critical for high-performance permanent magnets used in EVs, wind turbines, electronics, medical devices and defence systems. Although accounting for only a small fraction of total TREO content, industry commentary frequently notes that the MREOs can contribute the vast majority, in the order of 85% or more, of total basket value at prevailing market prices, making them among the most strategically sought-after rare earths globally. Investors also recognise the value creation potential of MREOs with CRI shares increasing 34% to 2c and more than 62m shares exchanged. Building on a July 2025 heavy rare earth oxide (HREO) review, Critica identified multiple higher-grade MREO zones containing neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, the four rare earths essential for the magnets. This work was based on the February 2025 resource estimate of 1.8Bt of ore at a grade of 1700ppm total rare earth oxides calculated a little over 18 months after Jupiter was discovered. At a 400ppm MREO cut-off, Jupiter contains 640 Mt at 490 ppm MREO and 2,100 ppm TREO within the broader resource. The maiden TREO resource established Jupiter as Australia's largest and highest-grade clay-hosted rare earths deposit and the MREO resource adds value, highlights Jupiter's scale and its concentration of high-value magnet REEs that support long-term demand from sectors including EVs, wind turbines, medical and defence. 'This is a turning point in the Jupiter story. The size of the resource has always been compelling, but this updated analysis confirms that Jupiter also has quality, with significant quantities of neodymium, praseodymium, terbium and dysprosium,' Critica's CEO Jacob Deysel said. 'What sets Critica apart is our approach. Rather than rushing toward an end product at all costs, we are systematically and innovatively advancing our metallurgical plan. 'We are applying a smarter, more targeted strategy, starting with a beneficiation stage that has upgraded high-value REEs into a small-volume stream while rejecting ~95% of the mined mineralised mass. 'This approach has the potential to deliver a significant advantage compared to projects requiring full-volume leaching. By removing this stream early, we are improving our pathway to more efficient processing and potential economic benefits, reducing the volume of material requiring chemical processing.' Kingsland Minerals (ASX:KNG) A testwork breakthrough has identified the potential to produce high-value gallium as a by-product from Kingsland Minerals Leliyn asset, Australia's largest graphite deposit, and resulted in shares reaching 15c, an improvement of 15.4% on the previous close. Mineralogical testing has established muscovite mica as the principal host of gallium within the Leliyn graphitic schist, with biotite mica a secondary host. This work has been verified by CSIRO analysis. Kingsland Minerals managing director Richard Maddocks said this marked an important development in the company's strategy to unlock value at Leliyn. 'Now we know what mineral hosts the gallium, we can work towards producing a gallium concentrate,' he said. 'It is anticipated that once a gallium concentrate is produced, additional work will assess the viability of extracting gallium and/or gallium compounds from the concentrate. 'It should be noted that gallium production will not be considered in the Leliyn scoping study due for release later in the September quarter,' he added. Kingsland has already completed an exploration target for gallium at Leliyn and plans to publish a maiden gallium JORC resource later in 2025. Gallium is a soft metal with a melting point near room temperature (30°C) and is a critical component in semiconductors, optical-electronic devices, solar panels and several military applications. Classified as a critical mineral in Europe, America and Australia, its market is projected to grow from US$2.45b in 2024 to US$21.53b by 2034. It isn't mined as a primary ore but is typically produced as a by-product of bauxite and zinc cores. OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) OD6 Metals has produced high-quality mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) and mixed rare earth hydroxide (MREH) from Splinter Rock REE project in WA and reached a 6-month high of 5.9c, a lift of 68.6% on the previous close. What makes the results more significant were the low impurities and high payability potential. The results were from heap leach liquor via metallurgical testing conducted by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). MREC of ~56% TREO was produced via a simplified and scalable heap leach and impurity removal process flowsheet while MREH of ~59% TREO was also produced utilising the same process but using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to precipitate the saleable product. 'This is a significant milestone for OD6 and reinforces Splinter Rock's potential to become a competitive and scalable producer of high-value rare earth products,' MD Brett Hazelden said. 'Our innovative processing pathway – using a combination of nanofiltration, ion exchange and impurity control - has enabled us to produce a high-quality, low-impurity MREC and MREH product that meets or exceeds global benchmarks.' Bayan Mining and Minerals (ASX:BMM) As progress is made at the US projects of Bayan Mining and Minerals the company reached a 12-month high of 13c, a 51.2% increase on the previous close. Comprehensive exploration is progressing at Desert Star project in a prospective REE corridor in California's Mojave Desert. A total of 65 rock chip samples and 30 heavy minerals concentrate samples were submitted to ALS Laboratory in Reno for REE and multi-element analysis as well as gold fire assays with results expected shortly. At Desert Star North exploration is advancing 3km north of the 1.1Moz Colosseum gold mine. The claims are also along the same regional corridor as the Mountain Pass REE mine. Twenty one rock chip samples and 46 heavy mineral concentrate samples were also submitted to ALS with results expected in September. A desktop review of existing geophysical datasets from both projects is underway, leveraging high-resolution airborne magnetic, gravity and radiometric data along with satellite imagery to refine targets. At Bayan Springs South project in Nevada a second phase of fieldwork was completed and assays are anticipated within two weeks. Lion Energy (ASX:LIO) While there was minimal work on Lion Energy Port of Brisbane Green Hydrogen joint venture in the June quarter as a joint development strategy is refined, progress was made at the oil and gas operations in Indonesia. At the hydrogen project the JV received initial EPC cost estimates and continues to develop a strategy to optimise project costs. Hydrogen offtake discussions remain contingent on short-listing an EPC contractor and finalising development-cost assumptions. In Indonesia, production continued at Seram PSC in which Lion holds 2.5%. Gross quarterly production totalled 70,883 bbls of crude oil with Lion's share being 1,772 bbls. LIO also continued engagement on an East Seram PSC farm-in to secure funding for drilling Bula Karang prospect which is scheduled for Q2 of 2026. 'In the East Seram PSC, we continued to progress the high-graded Bula Karang prospect, which we view as a significant play opener,' chairman Tom Soulsby said. 'Across the hydrogen JV, our focus remains squarely on optimising development costs through rigorous EPC cost and risk management.'

Ten Bagger: Tin's fundamentals are still striking for John Forwood
Welcome to Ten-Bagger, where Lowell Resources Fund chief investment officer John Forwood gives us his take on a sector of the ASX resources market full of value. This month, John talks his conviction in the tin market. Tin is a small market. At around 350,000tpa of demand, the trade in tin close to 100 times lighter than copper and 10 times smaller than nickel. But it's no less important when it comes to the future of energy. Miniaturisation hurt tin prices as hand-held devices got smaller and their components more efficient over the course of this century, over half of the end user market coming from the solder that glues together electronic circuit boards. But rising technologies like electric vehicles, battery storage and AI have ensured demand is now on a solid platform. At the same time, supply has been fragile with Indonesia and Myanmar's large alluvial deposits subject to environmental crackdowns and few new hard rock mines brought online in recent years. While tin remains niche and will never be a big part of the Lowell Resources Fund (ASX:LRT) portfolio, its chief investment officer John Forwood says strength in the tin price – US$33,805/t today – and those fundamentals make it a market to watch closely. "Rule of thumb, what I work on is tin is worth 3x as much as copper," Forwood said. "Half a percent tin grade is one and a half percent copper equivalent, or slightly better at the moment. "Tin recoveries generally are significantly lower – if you're in the 70s you're happy but you probably wouldn't be happy getting that from a copper flotation plant. So there are some differences. "(But) the demand side and the price response in a long-term sense is very good for tin (and) the supply side is where it gets a little murky." That's a great fundamental setup for continued price strength, with China, Indonesia and Myanmar all countries with a lack of transparency when it comes to the status of their operations. Market movements Prices were spurred on by a clampdown on alleged illegal mining and the confiscation of five private smelters in Indonesia last year, although the conclusion of a long-running corruption investigation has stirred strong exports out of the South-East Asian nation in 2025. Myanmar's autonomous Wa State has also recently announced the award of licences after a two year ban, alleviating supply constraints for refiners in China. But prices remain strong, an indication customers are still concerned about their ability to ensure a stable source of supply. Forwood says it's a "head scratcher" as to why there haven't been more tin mines opened in recent years with prices at historically strong levels. The high-grade Bisie tin mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was the last hard rock operation of substance to open in 2018, and caused a supply shock when the temporary takeover of North Kivu province by Rwanda-backed M23 rebels prompted a short-lived closure earlier this year. A couple are still waiting in the wings. "The Achmmach project in Morocco, it was Kasbah Resources and now it's been privatised, that's moving towards production but that's been 15 years that's been talked about in feasibility terms," Forwood said.* "The Heemskirk tin project in Tassie (owned by Stellar Resources (ASX:SRZ)), it's been a long time trying to get that to a critical point into production." *Majority owner Atlantic Tin was recently acquired by Hong Kong based Xingye. Sky's the limit Forwood's stock of choice in the ASX tin market is Norm Seckold-chaired explorer Sky Metals (ASX:SKY). It owns two tin projects in historic alluvial fields in New South Wales. The first priority is Tallebung, a historical mine site near Condobolin which sits to the south of Aurelia Metals' (ASX:AMI) Peak and Hera gold-copper mines. The second is Doradilla, located to the south of Bourke in the state's northwest. Tallebung is the most advanced, carrying a resource of 15.6Mt at 0.15% Sn and 0.03% WO3 for 23,200t tin and 433,940mtu of tungsten trioxide. An exploration target has also been posted of 23-32Mt at 0.14-0.17% Sn. It seems low grade, but Sky thinks it may have cracked a long-running processing challenge at the project by testing Tomra ore-sorters to upgrade the material. "It does seem to be exceptionally responsive to XRF ore sorting, the Tomra technology. I went up and had a look at their pilot plant in Sydney at Castle Hill. It's quite remarkable," Forwood said. "Obviously it doesn't sort the fines component, but depending on where they set the dial, to put it in very simplistic terms ... they can increase the grade by more than 5x. "So it means you're going from a 0.2-odd per cent head grade to a 1% head grade. " If you think of that in copper terms, it's 3% copper, roughly, and treating a fifth of the amount of ore that actually gets mined." The trick will be to see if works on a commercial scale, but Forwood is also optimistic about the growth potential of the deposit, with drilling funding extensions to the tin resource as well as high grade silver around its edges. Seckold, best known as the chair of Indonickel giant Nickel Industries (ASX:NIC) and also the chair of billion dollar critical minerals play Alpha HPA (ASX:A4N), is joined on the company's board by young geologist Olly Davies as MD, former Aurelia MD Rimas Kairaitis and exploration veteran Richard Hill, most recently chair of the board of copper developer New World Resources (ASX:NWC) ahead of its takeover by Kinterra Capital.
