Mphasis share price jumps 5% in a weak market; what is driving the stock after Q1 results?

Mphasis share price jumped over 5 per cent in intraday trade on the BSE on Friday, July 25, defying weak market sentiment. Mphasis shares opened at ₹ 2,628.80 against their previous close of ₹ 2,655.10 and rose 5.2 per cent to their intraday high of ₹ 2,792.50. Around 9:55 AM, the IT stock traded 3.44 per cent higher at ₹ 2,746.40. Equity benchmark Sensex was 0.43 per cent down at 81,831 at that time.
The mid-cap IT company's Q1 results seem to have boosted investors' interest in the stock as it looks set to snap its seven-day losing streak on Friday.
On Thursday, July 24, Mphasis said it recorded the highest-ever deal wins total contract value (TCV) of $760 million in Q1FY26, of which 82 per cent were in new-gen services.
'We were early adopters and implementers of AI-based solutions for our clients, which has positioned us well to help with their AI journey, create efficiencies, cost savings and minimise project risks, while at the same time, accelerating our business. This is reflected in our highest-ever quarterly TCV of $760 million, of which 68 per cent is AI-led. Overall, it is a good start to the new financial year, which sets the stage for the year ahead,' said Nitin Rakesh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mphasis.
Mphasis's gross revenue for the quarter grew 0.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and 9.2 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in Q1FY26 on a reported basis and grew 1 per cent QoQ and 6.5 per cent YoY in constant currency.
Net profit, however, declined 1.1 per cent QoQ but grew 9.2 per cent YoY to ₹ 441.7 crore.

Nilkamal net profit declines 16.47% in Q1 FY26

NEW DELHI: Nilkamal a has reported a dip of 16.47 per cent in its net consolidated profit during the quarter ended June 30, 2025. Its profit after tax stood at ₹15.32 crore in Q1 FY26 as against ₹18.34 crore it registered in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, the company said in a BSE filing. The company's net consolidated total income stood at ₹886.94 crore in Q1 FY26, a growth of 18.83 per cent from ₹746.40 crore it recorded in the similar quarter last year. As on June 30, 2025, its net worth stood at ₹1,501.74 crore, current liability ratio was 0.62, total debts to total assets was 0.13, debt-equity ratio was 0.22, operating margin was 6.85% and net profit margin was 1.73%. On the recommendation of the nomination & remuneration committee, the board of directors of the company has approved the appointment of Gautam G. Chakravarti as an additional independent director on the board of the company, with effect from July 29, 2025, for a period of five consecutive years.

Elcid Investments to pick small stake in Zepto for Rs 7.5 cr

Agency: New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) Non-banking financial company Elcid Investments on Tuesday said it will invest up to Rs 7.5 crore and pick up a small stake in Zepto, which values the quick commerce player at nearly USD 6 billion. In a regulatory filing, Elcid pegged the quick commerce player's revenue at Rs 11,109.9 crore for FY25. There was, however, no official word from Zepto itself corroborating the revenue figures quoted by Elcid in a BSE filing. As per the Elcid filing, the deal, expected to close within 25 days, is structured as a cash consideration and values Zepto at USD 5.9 billion. 'The company (Elcid Investments Ltd) intends to invest up to Rs 7.5 crore approximately for subscribing to the compulsorily convertible preference shares ('CCPS') of the face value Rs 5 each, representing on a fully diluted basis 22,55,639 equity shares of the company for an amount of Rs 33.25 per share. 'The percentage of stake acquired pursuant to the investment of Rs 7,50,00,000 in Zepto is approximately 0.0146 per cent of Zepto's share capital," the filing said. The filing said Zepto reported a turnover of Rs 11,109.9 crore in FY25. Zepto had posted a revenue of Rs 4,454 crore in FY24, more than a two-fold increase from Rs 2,025 crore in the previous fiscal year. It had marginally brought down its losses to Rs 1,248.6 crore in 2023-24 from Rs 1,272.4 crore in 2022-23, as per data from Tofler. An email query sent to Zepto did not elicit any response.
