BBC News03-05-2025

There will be bank holiday disruption to the Supertram network in Sheffield to allow for rail replacement work. The changes to services between Saturday and Monday are to allow the replacement of worn tracks at the Gleadless Townend tram stop, Travel South Yorkshire said. Supertram's blue route will only run between Malin Bridge and Sheffield Station, with purple route services suspended. A replacement bus service will run between Fitzalan Square and Halfway, it added, with all other services due to be operating as normal.
For journeys to Herdings/Leighton Road or Herdings Park, valid Supertram tickets will be accepted on First Bus services 47 and 48.Travel South Yorkshire said the rail replacement works would "ensure trams can continue to operate safely for years to come".A South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority spokesperson said: "By scheduling works over the bank holiday weekend when the tram network has lower passenger numbers, we hope to minimise any passenger and traffic disruption and keep people moving while this work progresses."
