Northern Ireland must learn from Denmark loss

Northern Ireland's Trai Hume believes the lessons from Saturday's 2-1 friendly defeat to Denmark can be of benefit during the side's 2026 World Cup qualifying O'Neill's side begin their efforts to make it to the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer with trips to face Luxembourg and Germany in taking the lead in Copenhagen, Sunderland defender Hume said the fact that his side were made to "suffer" without the ball for long periods can be instructive."We're going to have to go away to tough teams and probably suffer a bit without the ball the way we did [on Saturday] and try our best to be organised and disciplined," said the 23-year-old who captained the side for the third time."It was a very young team out there, especially when the subs came on."Obviously, that wee bit of inexperience [was telling], but that's stuff you have to learn from because we are going to go away and it's going to be probably even tougher than what it was."Northern Ireland will conclude this international window with another friendly against Iceland at Windsor Park with the visitors arriving in Belfast off the back of an away victory over Scotland on Friday night."The home record has been very good of late and we don't want to lose that," Hume added."Iceland's going to be a tough test, it'll be another tough game, but we've got to be ready for it."

EXCLUSIVE Manchester City inch closer to the completion of £33.7m move for Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri as the defender is spotted leaving his medical

Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri has been spotted leaving his Manchester City medical as his £33.7million move to the Etihad nears completion. The defender has been admired by scouts at City for over 12 months as they looked for reinforcements to their back line. Ait-Nouri is now deemed to have enough Premier League experience under his belt to make the move following an impressive campaign at Molineux. The 23-year-old scored five goals in 41 appearances last season bringing his total at Wolves to 12 goals in 157 games. He has also provided 19 assists since moving to Molineux in 2020. His former club Angers negotiated a 50 per cent sell-on clause but that will be bought out by Wolves for £9.7m before the deal is complete. He is expected to join Pep Guardiola 's side in time to be part of their Club World Cup campaign which gets underway on June 18. Ait-Nouri has a year left on his contract in the west Midlands, although Wolves also have an option to extend his stay. City plan to wrap up the £35m signing of midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon next. The 21-year old has already agreed personal terms and wants to join City before Tuesday's deadline for the Club World Cup. Cherki scored 12 goals in 44 games this season, including two against Manchester United in the Europa League. He made his senior debut for France last week, scoring as Les Bleus fell to a 5-4 defeat to Spain. He was also part of the France U23 team that won a silver medal at last summer's Olympic Games. City will also sign AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders pending a medical on a five year deal after they agreed an initial £46.3million fee with the Italians. The fee can rise with bonuses to £58m.
