Donnarumma speaks out after private Man Utd talks and take it or leave it offer
Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with a move to Manchester United as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain enters its final year, with the Italian now speaking out on his future Gianluigi Donnarumma has insisted he wants to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, despite reports he was discussing a move to Manchester United. The commanding goalkeeper played a starring role as PSG won the Champions League this season to claim the treble. But his contract in the French capital will expire in the summer of 2026. That has led to a rising uncertainty over his future at the Parc des Princes, attracting the attention of a number of top clubs. One of those potential suitors is United, who are keen to replace current keeper Andre Onana. The Cameroon international endured another miserable season, keeping just nine clean sheets in the Premier League. United boss Ruben Amorim is keen to bring in a new No.1, with the chance to sign Donnarumma too good to turn down. As well as winning the treble this season, the 26-year-old was also player of the tournament as Italy won Euro 2020. With a year to go on his contract, clubs around Europe had hoped to capitalise on that indecision with an audacious approach. Manchester rivals United and City were among those linked, with L'Equipe suggesting he had talked about moving to the Premier League with his international colleagues. But he has now confirmed that his desire is to remain in Paris, with the keeper predicting few obstacles in negotiations over a new contract. "My priority is to stay at PSG, I don't think there will be any problems in the negotiations," Donnarumma told Sky Sports Italia after Italy beat Moldova on Monday night. "We're a great team." Negotiations between Donnarumma's representatives and PSG began several months ago. He arrived in France four years ago from AC Milan, though earlier this week it was reported that there were doubts over whether an agreement would be reached/ According to L'Equipe, PSG had made a final 'take it or leave it' contract offer that includes a reduction in his salary. However, that now looks premature, with the player himself suggesting there should be few issues. Donnarumma's agent had already ruled out a return to Serie A, with Napoli having also been linked with the keeper. Instead, Enzo Raiola is focused on securing a new contract with PSG for his client. "It's pure fantasy. I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna at [Napoli], but we've never discussed Gigio," Raiola told Radio CRC via Calciomercato. "It's an obvious question; many would like him, but only a few can afford him. "He feels good in Paris, we're at the European champion club, so we have no complaints. We are working on a renewal. I have never ruled out interest from the top Italian clubs, but there has never been a negotiation, let's see. "He is still young, I have to squeeze him for at least another 10 years. At the moment, however, it is very difficult to see Donnarumma in the Italian championship, I'm not just talking about numbers but also about the sporting project. "In Italy, beyond Inter who reached the Champions League final, there are Milan and Juve who are struggling, they are in the process of reorganizing: these factors are fundamental." Viktor Gyokeres sends message to Sporting after Man Utd handed new asking price
Viktor Gyokeres is 'furious' with Sporting CP after the Portuguese giants made the decision not to sell him for a reduced fee this summer. Gyokeres, 26, emerged as one of Europe' most prolific centre forwards last season, finishing the campaign with 52 goals in 54 appearances. It followed a thrilling first campaign in Portugal where he netted 43 in 50 appearances under current Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. The Sweden international fired Sporting to a league and cup double in May and has remained coy on his future, even failing to rule out the possibility of another season at Lisbon. But privately, Gyokeres has fully expected to be sold by the club this summer. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. The former Coventry City star has a release clause of €100million. But last year, in return for him staying on for another season, Sporting agreed to sell him this summer for a fee below that clause. It was agreed if Sporting received an offer of at least €60m with a further €10m in add-ons, they would not stand in his way. Record report however Sporting president Frederico Varandas has decided not to honour that agreement. While the Portuguese champions are still waiting for official bids, clubs who have made enquiries have been told it will cost at least €80m to do business. Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Gyokeres having seemingly turned their attention elsewhere in recent weeks. Manchester United are also interested in signing him this summer but would likely need to raise further cash this summer to move forward with a bid with O Jogo reporting there still have been no official approach from Amorim's side. The situation has left Gyokeres 'furious', feeling the club have gone back on their word and abandoned promises made to him last summer. More Trending The striker has also removed references to Sporting from his Instagram account – although he also appears to have removed mentions of sponsor Nike and the Sweden national team. Gyokeres is a bunch of different strikers blended into one. He's a bulldozer, but he's also got that turn of pace and knack of finding himself in shooting areas. Some strikers, you can see they overthink things, but he'll shoot first and ask questions later. At 6ft 2in, he could definitely add an aerial presence to his game to take himself to the next level, but he's very good at using his chest as a magnet to win these aerial duels. He may not be as fearless as others when it comes to aerial duels, but he knows how to use his strengths to his advantage to hold up the ball and bring others into play. He's not someone like Roberto Firmino who is going to be dropping deep, so if Arsenal need to change certain things to get the best out of Gyokeres then they should. Zach Lowy, European football expert With Chelsea signing Liam Delap and Arsenal focusing on Benjamin Sesko, Gyokeres' options in the Premier League may have narrowed to United. The player has also turned down what would be a hugely lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. United have no European football on offer this season but that did not prevent them from signing Matheus Cunha from Wolved. Bryan Mbeumo has also favoured a move to Old Trafford ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle with United expected to make a second bid for the Brentford star soon. Erik ten Hag tried to STOP £86m Antony transfer - former Man United boss' agent reveals what REALLY happened during club's disastrous deal
A sensational new report has now claimed that former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag tried to block the signing of Antony, rather than endorse it. The new Bayer Leverkusen boss is widely reported to have been a key figure in the £86million acquisition of the Brazil forward back in 2022, when United welcomed Ten Hag to the dugout. He was not the only player to make the move from Ajax, joining Argentina centre back Lisandro Martinez in joining United, with Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord), Cristian Eriksen (free) and Casemiro (Real Madrid) also signing on. However, the move has hardly gone as planned, with Antony yet to deliver on the huge outlay splashed on his services, and was recently sent out on loan to Real Betis after struggling to break into Ruben Amorim 's set up. As such, it had appeared to reflect badly on Ten Hag given the claims that he had been a key part of the signing, yet the co-founder of the manager's agency, has claimed in a new book that they tried to block the move. 'Ten Hag and Vos were not in favour of this and wanted to stop the transfer,' writes Kees Vos of the Antony transfer in the book, Liverpool and the Dutch. 'But the club wanted to push through at all costs, because Arsenal was also interested in Antony. 'The risk of a stronger competitor would be great. Ultimately, Manchester United paid almost 100 million euros for Antony. 'Although Ten Hag did not support this transfer, it stuck with him throughout his entire time in Manchester that he took over the attacker from Ajax for this ill-fated amount, who was never able to fulfil his promise.' Antony's stint at Old Trafford has thus far been far from inspiring, with just 12 goals and five assists in 96 games for the Red Devils. Yet a brief sojourn in Seville in the second half of the season seems to have reinvigorated the player, who came up with 14 contributions in 26 appearances - just five shy of his entire United tally in nearly a quarter of the time. However that could come to help United this summer as they look to move him on, and an upturn in form may at least have reminded potential suitors that there is at least a talented attacker still in Antony. Rene Meulensteen, who worked under Ferguson between 2007 and 2013, has ripped into wingers Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, insisting they must be the first to go. Incredibly, Meulensteen also brutally labelled Antony, who spent the six months of the season on loan at Real Betis, 'selfish' while declaring Garnacho is 'bad' for United. He also claimed Ajax were 'doing cartwheels' after agreeing to sell Antony for a whopping £80million in August 2022 - with United now braced for a significant loss. 'I wouldn't bring Antony back because I've seen enough of him that he's not cut out for the club and not good enough,' Meulensteen told Tipman Tips. 'His performances are fuelled by his personality and are not for the good of the team, he's selfish. 'You will never get your £80m back from Antony. I thought it was stupid business at the time when I heard it was happening. 'I know that when they heard about the deal in Amsterdam, they were doing cartwheels. It shows again that players in those lower leagues, like Holland, are completely different. They're playing very different styles, a slower tempo. 'Teams like Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord are the best, so it's easy for them to look good. 'But coming into the Premier League is so much different. What is Antony's return? How many goals and assists has he got? He's probably got as many, if not more, in Spain than in England, that different kind of football is more ideal for him.'
