'One of the greatest': Dustin Poirier's UFC 318 retirement prompts sea of tributes from MMA's best
Despite coming into the bout up 2-0 in his series with Holloway, Poirier closed out his UFC run with a unanimous decision loss (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) in another back-and-forth brawl that nevertheless served as a worthy and emotional sendoff for the longtime fan favorite.
Poirier, 36, hangs up his gloves as one of the most celebrated fighters of his era. Despite never capturing an undisputed UFC title, "The Diamond" strung together a Hall of Fame résumé over the course of a 14-year Octagon career, defeating a legendary list of top fighters across two divisions. Poirier's catalog of conquests include Conor McGregor (x2), Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, Anthony Pettis and Dan Hooker, among many others.
He also exits the sport tied for the fourth-most post-fight bonuses in UFC history (15), tied for the fifth-most finishes in UFC history (15), tied for most the finishes of current/former/future UFC champions (6), and tied for the sixth-most wins in UFC history (22) — a slew of records that speak to his uncommon longevity atop the game's most talent-rich divisions.
Following his emotional farewell, a wave of Poirier's peers within the fighting community paid tribute to "The Diamond" and the vast body of work he contributed to the game.

Tyreek Hill: Tua Tagovailoa's comments were needed
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has made some pointed comments at training camp about needing to hold wide receiver Tyreek Hill accountable, and Hill says he accepts those comments. Hill said today that he's trying to hold himself accountable as well and appreciates Tagovailoa's leadership. "I think Tua's comments were needed," Hill said. "He's obviously the leader of our team so he sets the standard, so I'm just trying to be the best teammate, best version of myself I can be. Showing up to meetings, coming out here every day and busting my tail in practice, I think it's important. If you want to be able to leave a legacy, you've got to be able to consistently do those things." Hill said he knows he needs to be a good presence in the locker room and on the practice field, and not just a playmaker on game days. "I think it's very important because football is a team sport," Hill said. "It is important." Getting Tagovailoa and Hill on the same page will go a long way toward getting things moving in the right direction for the Dolphins this season.

Wrigley Field, Chicago Cubs to host MLB's 2027 All-Star Game
Wrigley Field, the home field of the Chicago Cubs, will host the 2027 All-Star Game, Major League Baseball announced Friday. The 97th edition of the Midsummer Classic will be played Tuesday, July 13, 2027. The 2026 game is set for Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on July 14, 2026, and will be broadcast nationally by FOX. "I applaud the Ricketts family, the entire Cubs organization, the City of Chicago and the Chicago Sports Commission for presenting an impressive vision for 2027 All-Star Week," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "The hard work put in to transform all of Wrigleyville into an outstanding destination deserves to be celebrated and shared on a national stage. We look forward to bringing the Midsummer Classic back to historic Wrigley Field and working alongside the Cubs, city and state officials, and the local organizing group to bring an extraordinary experience to the baseball fans of Chicago." The 2027 game will be the fourth time the Cubs host the All-Star Game and Chicago's eighth time playing host to the game. Wrigley Field was the site of the game in 1947, 1962 (the second of two All-Star Games played that year), and 1990, and it will become the third stadium in history to host the All-Star Game for a fourth time, following Cleveland's Municipal Stadium and the old Yankee Stadium in New York. The American League has won all three of the previous All-Star games over the National League played at Wrigley Field. The Junior Circuit won 2-1 in 1947, 9-4 in 1962, and 2-0 in 1990, with the NL being held to just two hits in that game. The AL leads the all-time series 48-44-3.
