Pittsburgh Steelers captain and defensive standout Cameron Heyward is stuck in a childish war of words of sorts.

The Steelers star is entering his 15th season in 2025, while Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson will embark on just his second.
During an appearance on his teammate Maxx Crosby's "The Rush" podcast, Powers-Johnson described his "Welcome to the NFL" moment in his rookie season. He said it stems from a Week 6 matchup between Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
"I'd say playing against Cam Heyward and giving up my first sack ... ever ... in my entire life," Powers-Johnson said. "I would have to say that. He didn't beat me, I beat myself. I beat myself, I overset. And he got me, and said some choice words after, and I really hope he comes back for another year. That's all I'm gonna say."
Heyward took to his own podcast, "Not Just Football," to provide the proverbial slap back to reality for Powers-Johnson.

"Hey man, I was close a lot of times. I just, you know, I delivered the baby at that moment," Heyward said. "I don't remember what I said. You know, I tend to black out in those moments, but that wasn't the only time he got beat. I'm gonna be honest.
"I'm gonna be honest too, this is the other thing," Heyward said. "He's saying this, and we don't even have him scheduled this year. That's kind of funny. So now you're talking stuff when you had all this time to even bring this up."
It was one of just two sacks that the former Oregon Ducks offensive lineman gave up last season during his rookie campaign. And the fact that he wants another shot at Heyward is admirable, but it won't happen in 2025 unless one of them is traded to another team.
The Steelers and Raiders aren't on each other's schedule next season. So we may have to wait a while before we see how this thing ends.

That leads to the positional battles in OTAs and minicamp to determine who will get the job, or at least temporarily, in the new season. The Dolphins will look to replace Kendall Fuller, who was released in February after playing his first season with the team, and Jaylen Ramsey, who is likely to be traded at some point this offseason. Both players were top 10 tacklers for the Dolphins in 2024. Ramsey had two interceptions, and Fuller had a forced fumble. In college, Smith had an impressive final two years, combining for 91 tackles, 18 passes defended, and four interceptions. Marshal was the Dolphins' fifth-round draft pick, and Bonner and Johnson are former undrafted free agents. Bonner has impressed coaches and reporters at OTAs, earning the orange jersey one day for being the best player from the previous day. There's still plenty of offseason to go, but it seems like Duck and Smith are the leaders to win the two open cornerback spots.
