UFC 316's Kevin Holland calls out Colby Covington: 'I like beating up on sorry people'
UFC 316's Kevin Holland calls out Colby Covington: 'I like beating up on sorry people' Kevin Holland sets his sight on former UFC title challenger Colby Covington. Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Kevin Holland post-fight interview UFC 316 winner Kevin Holland spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his second-round submission of Vicente Luque. NEWARK, N.J. – Kevin Holland just called for a fight that could have the most trash talk in MMA history. Holland (28-13 MMA, 15-10 UFC), who's referred to as "Big Mouth" by UFC CEO Dana White due to his trash talking in and out of the cage, called out arguably the biggest villain in UFC welterweight history, Colby Covington. Holland shot his shot following his submission win over Vicente Luque on the main card of Saturday's UFC 316 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. "Colby Covington, you're the worst guy in the welterweight division," Holland said on the microphone in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. "I like beating up on sorry people." Following the win, Holland spoke to reporters backstage where he elaborated further on his callout. He thinks that a fight between him and Covington would be one of the biggest non-title fights you could make today. "I think it will be a good one," Holland said at the UFC 316 post-fight news conference. "I know they're doing 'The Ultimate Fighter' house right now with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen, but to be honest with you, they can just cancel that one and just do me and Colby. Me and Colby could do whatever. Anything me and Colby do would sell. "It can be fun. It can be a lot of sh*t talking. It can be whatever it needs to be. I think me and Colby do numbers, and it would be the highest Fight Night. If we were to be on a pay-per-view event, we'd help sell that thing out. You wouldn't even need a stacked undercard." Holland is now 2-0 since making a return to the welterweight division. Prior to submitting Luque, Holland had defeated UFC staple Gunnar Nelson in a hard-fought decision. Meanwhile, Covington hasn't fought since December when he was stopped by Joaquin Buckley. Covington, a two-time UFC welterweight title challenger, is on a two-fight losing streak and 2-4 in his past six trips to the octagon.

Agent calls Yankees series a hurdle for Juan Soto's transition to Mets
Agent calls Yankees series a hurdle for Juan Soto's transition to Mets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Apparently, Juan Soto is still dealing with his exit from the New York Yankees. In an ESPN article earlier this week, Scott Boras, the uber agent who represents Soto, said that last month's torturous three-game series back at Yankee Stadium was a 'hurdle' for the Mets'' superstar in his acclimation process. Advertisement Boras explained that it was the first time Soto faced many of his former teammates since leaving the Yankees after their shared successes. 'It's psychological,' Boras said. 'It's different. You're treated differently because of your contract status. Everybody's aware, and you kind of want it to be how it was, not how it is. And you have to learn the 'is' part, and it's a new part of the process.' It was certainly a different experience for Soto that weekend. He was booed relentlessly, viciously for three straight games. The 26-year-old looked shellshocked by Sunday night, when he backed out of a commitment to be mic'd up for the ESPN broadcast, reportedly because he was tired of being asked about Aaron Judge. New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (22).John Jones-Imagn Images For Yankees fans, that was the first chance they had to voice their frustration and anger that Stoto bolted the Bronx after just one season, and not just for a $765 million payday with the Mets, but that he talked some trash on the way out. He commented on the Mets having a brighter future than the Yankees, a comment that got under the skin of Judge and others as well. Advertisement Soto's departure left a giant void in the Yankees' lineup. He hit 41 home runs last season and helped the Yankees get back to the World Series for the first time since 2009. But the Yankees pivoted after he signed with the Mets. They signed Max Fried and traded for Cody Bellinger. They signed Paul Goldschmidt and traded for Devin Williams. Many have said the Yankees are a better, more balanced team now compared to last season with Soto. He is an incredible talent, and he told ESPN he is beginning to feel more settled in the Mets' lineup. Now that he is over the 'hurdle' of facing the Yankees in the Bronx, maybe Soto can put that chapter in the past.
