Nainar lauds Stalin for attending Niti Aayog meet; Seeman slams
Chennai: Welcoming
M K Stalin
's participation in the
Niti Aayog
meeting in Delhi on Saturday,
BJP
state president Nainar Nagenthran said the
Tamil Nadu
chief minister was keen to work closely with BJP govt at the Centre.
NTK chief coordinator
Seeman
, however, raised doubts about CM's visit and linked it with ED searches in Tamil Nadu.
"The CM did not participate in any of the programmes last year, but this year he did. Whatever schemes Stalin is bringing to Tamil Nadu, all credit goes to him. Stalin should have a good relationship with Union govt to secure funds for the state and for the benefit of people," Nainar told reporters here.
For his part, Seeman said, "There were many instances in the past when Stalin could have met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but now question arise as to why you (Stalin) are attending the meeting, especially after skipping the previous Niti Aayog meetings.
You should have clarified. There is a doubt whether an Enforcement Directorate (ED) search could have been the reason for your visit."
Questioning the reason behind Stalin holding a rally to support Operation Sindoor when other state CMs, including BJP allies, remained silent, Seeman said, "BJP is thinking that even if their allies such as Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JDU opt out of the alliance, DMK will support with its 22 MPs."
DMK allies such as MDMK and VCK defended Stalin's visit to Delhi.
MDMK founder Vaiko said, "Stalin is not fearful of ED raids. Opposition parties are blabbering."
VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan said, "The bitter truth is that a state govt cannot completely stand aloof or oppose Union govt. If we do, the loss is for us. Our CM might have considered the Niti Aayog meeting as a chance to meet the PM and Union ministers to express our concern directly to them."

Vidarbha Mukti Morcha's two-day dharna in Chanda for statehood
Chandrapur: The Vidarbha Mukti Morcha and its youth wing, Vidarbha Mukti Yuva Morcha, will hold a two-day dharna (sit-in agitation) on June 9 and 10 at the statue of barrister Rajabhau Khobragade, here, to press for the long-pending demand of a separate Vidarbha state. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The announcement was made by Vidarbha Mukti Morcha leader Kishore Potonwar during a press conference. Potonwar recalled that a resolution in support of a separate Vidarbha was unanimously passed during the BJP's national convention held in Bhubaneswar in 1997. At the time, several senior BJP leaders from Vidarbha, along with Jambuwantrao Dhote, had taken to the streets. The BJP had promised that it would create a separate Vidarbha state once it comes to power. However, that promise remains unfulfilled, and the BJP has kept silent on the issue. He added that even though leaders like Jambuwantrao Dhote, Rajesaheb Vishweshwar Rao Maharaj, TG Deshmukh, Tirpude, and Biyani are no more, the struggle for Vidarbha continues. Potonwar alleged that the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra deliberately sidelined the Vidarbha statehood issue by projecting Shiv Sena at the forefront. He further noted that the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti had staged a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and submitted memorandums to Members of Parliament. While BJP facilitated the creation of three new states — Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand — it treated the Vidarbha issue differently from Telangana. Later, Congress carved Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh, but ignored Vidarbha's demand. "There is growing unrest among unemployed youth, farmers, workers, and government employees who can no longer bear the injustice inflicted upon Vidarbha. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now People are preparing for a decisive struggle to save their resources — Surjagad and Manikgarh mines, the rivers Wainganga and Painganga, and the lifeline Godavari," he said. Potonwar called upon to the youth of Vidarbha to join the movement, stating that a separate Vidarbha would pave the way for employment opportunities for educated youth, industrial growth, affordable access to coal, water, and electricity, and an end to load-shedding. He asserted that self-reliance will reduce farmer suicides, and once Nagpur becomes the capital, tribal communities will save on travel expenses and access justice more easily. He also remarked that the EVM machines will be "shut down," hinting at systemic change. Dr Tirumal Mujam, Sunil Junghare, Adv Vilas Mathankar, and Dheeraj Chikte were also present during the press conference.

Gehlot blames govt for power cuts, energy min says ‘no load shedding'
Jaipur: Former chief minister Sunday criticised the Bhajan Lal govt for frequent power cuts in the state. In a post on X, he said, "When the BJP govt in Rajasthan completed one year, they loudly proclaimed that Rajasthan was a surplus state in terms of electricity. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, as soon as the heat began to rise, power cuts started occurring everywhere, in both villages and cities." "Power cuts in a surplus state directly indicate govt mismanagement. The electricity distribution infrastructure in Rajasthan collapsed, causing distress to the common people," he added. Energy minister Heeralal Nagar dismissed Gehlot's claims as "misleading". Nagar stated that there was no load shedding across the state during this year's summer and power supply was only interrupted in a few areas for maintenance, and that too with prior notice. He credited the absence of power cuts to improved management and infrastructure upgrade carried out by the BJP govt. Highlighting achievements, Nagar said over 1,000 MW of solar power had been integrated into the state grid in the past 18 months, and projects worth more than 10,000 MW were in the pipeline. Rajasthan was set to receive 4,000 MW of battery storage support from the Union government, he said, adding that BJP govt completed 80 GSS projects.

Revanth Reddy releases Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography, calls him ‘Ajata Shatruvu'
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday released the autobiography of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, titled 'Prajala Kathe-Naa Atma Katha', at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad. The event witnessed the participation of several prominent leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu, former President Ramnath Kovind and former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu who heaped praise on Dattatreya's public life and legacy. Speaking at the book launch, the Chief Minister described Dattatreya as an 'Ajata Shatruvu', one who has no enemies, and likened him to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that the Haryana Governor stands as a role model for budding leaders, having risen from humble beginnings in Gowliguda, a small locality in Hyderabad, to occupy high constitutional office while maintaining close ties with the people. The Chief Minister made interesting comments on his political journey, describing it as 'Schooling in the BJP, college in the TDP, and now working with Rahul Gandhi'. 'I never hide my relationships,' Mr. Revanth Reddy said, adding that he had close ties with the families of both Mr. Dattatreya and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.. He said, 'Leaders cutting across the political lines admire whether or not he holds power,' citing the annual 'Alai Balai' event hosted by Dattatreya. The Chief Minister also said that his government draws inspiration from leaders like P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) and Dattatreya in making people-centric decisions. Naidu described Dattatreya as the embodiment of a true gentleman and lauded his commitment to secularism and public welfare despite working as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak, stating that his 'letters to the Chief Minister' reflect both purpose and principle. 'Dattatreya is fondly called as simply Dattanna. He is an Ajata Shatruvu,' Naidu added. Naidu also showered praises on Dattatreya. He said such leaders exemplify value-based public service. 'Those who violate democratic norms must be rejected through democratic means,' he said. Reddy, Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, former Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, and Governors Jishnu Dev Varma (Telangana), S. Abdul Nazeer (Andhra Pradesh), Kambhampati Haribabu (Odisha) and N. Indrasena Reddy (Tripura) were among the dignitaries present. This autobiography chronicles Dattatreya's seven-decade journey, from helping his mother sell onions in Gowliguda to becoming an RSS pracharak, his involvement in relief work during the 1977 Diviseema cyclone, his arrest during the Emergency, and his tenure as a Union Minister and now as Governor.
