Texas A&M's first SEC opponent reportedly facing uncertainty at QB

Texas A&M's first SEC matchup during the 2025 season will be against the Auburn Tigers inside Kyle Field on Saturday, Sept. 27, after the Aggies' first bye week of the season. While defeating UTSA, Utah State, and Notre Dame on the road is coach Mike Elko's primary focus, Auburn's ongoing quarterback dilemma has likely piqued the interest of the staff before hosting the Tigers a little over a month from now. On Monday, 247Sports beat writer Nathan King released coach Hugh Freeze's brief quote regarding Auburn's QB uncertainty after King asked if three Auburn signal callers would see playing time during the Tigers' season-opener on the road against Baylor. The Bears return one of the better defenses in the Big 12, which could spell danger if Freeze can't decide on who will lead the offense. 'Yes. Yeah. There's strengths — you put on Ashton's film from Stanford, and he ran away from some really good teams.' This offseason, former five-star Oklahoma starting quarterback Jackson Arnold, who has yet to live up to his prolific recruiting ranking, transferred to Auburn with the hopes of regaining his swagger and playing with one of many of us consider to be the best wide receiver duos in college football with Cam Coleman and Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singelton Jr. Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels has also leaped this preseason, earning Freeze's praise. Still, having two elite receivers without a reliable quarterback is similar to Texas A&M's issues during the 2022 season, and the fact that Ashton Daniels and freshman Deuce Knight are neck and neck with Arnold does not sound great for the Tigers' offense. Either way, just like Notre Dame's uncertainty as the position before the Aggies travel to South Bend on Sept. 13, Mike Elko's veteran defense could enter both game with a significant advantage in the secondary. Texas A&M is a finalist to land rising 2026 4-star SG out of St. Louis (MO)

Entering his first season at the helm, new Texas A&M basketball coach Bucky McMillan has already assembled his 2025 roster, made up of 13 transfer additions, freshman guard Jeremiah Green, and international Spanish shooting guard Ruben Dominguez. On the recruiting trail, McMillan has strategically spread out his offers, which include rising 2026 four-star SG Quentin Coleman, who recently placed Texas A&M in his top 4 program list. Sitting at the top of Coleman's list, McMillan and his staff have been with the St. Louis (MO) native since the very beginning, watching his rise in the rankings and developing a strong and consistent communication channel that could pay off with a commitment down the stretch. Right now, landing three or four commitments in the 2026 cycle is the goal, especially before his first season with the program. Standing at 6'3" and 170 pounds, Coleman is one of the top shooters in the country. Like many of the prospects McMillan has offered, Coleman shot over 45% from the field during his 2024 junior season, averaging 19.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. This summer, Coleman's scoring averaged slightly decreased to 14.1 points per game during Nike's Peach Jam Tournament, but also led to his rise with nearly every blue-blood representative in attendance. According to Rivals, Coleman is currently positioned as the 61st-ranked shooting guard and the 8th-ranked prospect in Missouri. Coleman will choose between Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Iowa, Wake Forest, Illinois, and St. Louis.
