Noni Madueke to undergo Arsenal medical TODAY ahead of sealing £52m move from Chelsea - as Gunners set their sights on Eberechi Eze NEXT

Daily Mail5 days ago
Noni Madueke will undergo a medical at Arsenal on Monday ahead of his £52m switch from Chelsea.
The Gunners also look to be eyeing up a move for Crystal Palace 's Eberechi Eze as their next target.
Arsenal and Chelsea are in agreement for the transfer of the 23-year-old Madueke, with a £52million deal close to being completed for the wide man.
Personal terms over a five-year deal are already in place.
The England international trained with his Blues team-mates on Thursday morning in New York ahead of their Club World Cup final victory against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Madueke was a regular for Chelsea last season, including playing the entirety of their Conference League final which they won against Real Betis.
The Gunners have been looking to bolster their attacking options this transfer window, with a move to sign Victor Gyokeres close.
The clubs are now close to agreement on a deal worth an initial £55m, with a further £7.4m in add-ons, while Gyokeres has agreed a five-year contract.
Arsenal also been on the hunt for a winger - it is understood their preference was a left-sided wide man, but one who can play on either side, like Madueke, was also an option.
The Gunners then approached the player and there were no hurdles in terms of personal terms and the negotiations with Chelsea went smoothly too.
Madueke is left-footed and prefers to play on the right - a position occupied by Bukayo Saka at Arsenal.
But he is also capable of playing the left and has featured there recently for the Blues.
He will likely compete with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli for a starting spot in the Arsenal team next season.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has acknowledged that Madueke is heading for the exit.
'Noni is in contact with a new club,' Maresca said. 'I guess that he's going to leave in the next hours.
'I said in one of the last press conferences that at the end, if players want to leave, at the end, it's difficult for the club and for the manager.
'Noni decided to leave, nobody told Noni he had to leave. If he is happy, we are happy.'
Should Madueke's move go through without complication, he would be the fourth player to join Arsenal this summer - and second from Chelsea.
Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has already moved across London in a £5m deal, while former Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and ex-Real Sociedad man Martin Zubimendi have joined him at the Emirates.

Thomas Frank refuses to put timeline on Tottenham's Premier League title quest

Thomas Frank has no issue with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy calling on the club to win the Premier League, but is not ready to set a deadline on when he will achieve the improbable dream. Spurs claimed Europa League success in May to end a 17-year wait for silverware, but Levy ruthlessly dismissed Ange Postecoglou after a difficult domestic campaign where the club finished one place above the relegation zone. Despite Tottenham's Premier League struggles after an injury-ravaged season, Levy made the bold claim last month that they 'need' to win the title. Frank said: 'I share his ambitions for the club. A club of this size should have that ambition. 'How far away we are is probably very difficult to say, but we should throw it forward and go for it. 'No doubt that needs to be the aim for the future. What are to odds for us winning the PL this season? 'I'm not allowed to gamble either, so I think we're probably not the favourites. Probably three teams at least ahead of us but we will do what we can to build a strong and competitive team.' During a busy first press conference as Spurs boss, Frank regularly stated his desire to improve the robustness of the squad to ensure they can handle four competitions. There were also plenty of questions about the future of key duo Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero. Son achieved his own goal of winning silverware at Tottenham in May and there has been a suggestion if he wanted to leave the club would not stand in his way. But Frank, who refused to confirm if Son would remain captain, insisted: 'It's always tricky situations like that. 'If a player has been at a club a long time, then there will always be a decision for the club to take of course. 'And of course, the head coach and the guys who are in charge and this case will be with Daniel and Johan (Lange), because there is something in it if someone wants to leave at a certain stage, then there can be something there, but the club will always decide in the end.' Postecoglou's first summer at Spurs was overshadowed by Bayern Munich's protracted pursuit of Harry Kane, which eventually ended a day before the start of the season. Frank would not want a repeat, but added: 'First and foremost, he's (Son) here now. I'm not worried too much about it.'

St Mirren close to securing Jalmaro Calvin, says boss Stephen Robinson

The Jamaican winger, who plays for the island's Premier League outfit Cavalier, will become the club's seventh signing should the deal go through. St Mirren are closing in on the signing of Jamaican winger Jalmaro Calvin. ‌ The capture of the pacey 22-year-old is expected to be confirmed with securing a work permit thought to be the hold-up. ‌ Calvin, who has represented the Reggae Boyz as well as Antigua and Barbuda on the international stage, will become the club's seventh signing when the deal with Jamaican Premier League outfit Cavalier goes through. ‌ Boss Stephen Robinson is excited to have Calvin on board but wants to temper any expectations about the Jamaican making an instant impact. 'We're just waiting for paperwork now,' said the Northern Irishman. 'It's the usual paperwork. We're just waiting for that to hopefully happen in the next 48 hours. 'But you take nothing for granted in this world until it's done and dusted. But we believe he's a really quick, electric player who needs to get up to the speed of the game and the physicality of the UK game, especially in Scotland.' ‌ Robinson is battling in a small market as he looks to wheel and deal his way through the summer transfer window. He is in the process of trying to replace a string of starters from last season who have all made big moves out of Paisley. The Buddies boss continued: 'I keep saying we've lost nearly 50 per cent of our starting line-up. 'We've lost Zach Hemming, we've lost Ryan [Alebiosu], we've lost Richard [Taylor], we've lost Caloan [Boyd-Munce] and we've lost Toyosi [Olusanya]. ‌ 'And them boys are now on huge money playing in the Championship [whose clubs are] paying six, seven, £8,000 a week. We're not replacing like for like and people have to understand that. 'We're right back at the start of the cycle again with our replacements and it takes time to build up and that's what this football club is.' It is a return to Paisley on Saturday for the Buddies and the fans with League Two Annan Athletic arriving in the hope they can cause a shock. ‌ Saints have drawn with Arbroath (losing 5-3 on penalties) and beaten Forfar Athletic 2-1 at Station Park to top their Premier Sports Cup group. Midfielder Liam Donnelly is the only injury absentee while keeper Ryan Mullen could get the nod after recovering from a bug. Mark O'Hara is back from suspension. Robinson insists this time of the year is the hardest as he is still trying to figure out his strongest team ahead of the league campaign. He said: 'I find it difficult because you're expected to win when you're still experimenting, you're still trying different things. People are still trying to find their form and obviously, people say, are all the rest of the teams. 'But the other teams aren't expected to win. They're not expected to win four or five-nil. So, it's something we have to deal with and have dealt with; and, ultimately, try and get through and then it takes care of itself.'
