Tamil Nadu Governor doing ‘cheap politics' than Opposition: CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday (August 17, 2025) declared that there will be a 'Dravidian Model 2.0' to take the State to newer heights in the upcoming 2026 elections. Launching an instant crop loan scheme under the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) on a pilot basis in Dharmapuri, Mr. Stalin said, 'The next government will yet again be the Dravidian-model government. Dravidian Model 2.0 will come back to take the State to new heights.' 'The BJP-led Union Government's own statistics have debunked the various allegations levelled against Tamil Nadu by the Governor (in his I-Day eve customary address). Today, Tamil Nadu is a trendsetter for the various schemes introduced here and now emulated by other States,' the Chief Minister said. Listing out his government's flagship schemes for women, Mr. Stalin said the best emissaries for those schemes were the beneficiaries themselves and there were numerous naysayers (AIADMK) who said the Vidiyal Payam would eventually mean a reduction in the number of bus services and a hike in bus tariffs. 'But my first sign was on costless bus rides for women, which we saw not as an expenditure but as an investment in women. Similarly, the Magalir Urimai Thittam has enabled women to save close to ₹50,000 since its inception,' according to Mr. Stalin. The Chief Minister also launched a blistering attack on Governor R.N. Ravi and alleged the latter peddled fear and anxiety to malign the DMK government. 'There is a person sitting in Governor's bungalow, whose 'cheap politics' surpasses that of the Opposition. He sits there and mocks Dravidian Model, the Dravidian language, and cooks up a non-existent Thirukkural. It is for all these reasons, I say, Governor should remain in Tamil Nadu; his presence and his constant assault on our way of living will ensure our love for our culture and language doesn't fizzle out,' he said. Responding to allegations of poor law and order, Mr. Stalin said Mr. Ravi has 'discovered' that there is no security for women in Tamil Nadu and crimes against women are rising. Editorial | Safe havens no more: On growing crime against women 'The Union Government's own National Crime Records data reveals the BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh tops the crime list against women in the country. He is giving expression to his frustration on every stage he is on. If the security was bad, how did we attract ₹10 lakh crore investments since we came in?' posed the Chief Minister. Instant Crop loan Earlier, the Chief Minister launched an instant crop loan scheme under PACS, whereby online loan applications will be processed and loan amounts credited on the same day to the farmers' accounts. 'This replaces the system of the in-person applications in PACs and the time lag of over a week for the loan grant,' said the Chief Minister. This was launched at Balajangamanahalli Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society in Adhiyamankottai in Dharmapuri. Launched as a pilot scheme through select PACS, the scheme would eventually be rolled out across the State. Mr. Stalin issued cheques to 5 beneficiaries unveiling the Scheme. The Chief Minister also unveiled various completed projects and launched the commencement of new development works on the occasion.

Attacking RSS a ‘guarantee solution' for CM to save his chair: BJP

Bengaluru: Taking a dig at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for attacking the RSS, the BJP leader R Ashoka has said it has become a 'guarantee solution' for the former to save his chair. The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly was reacting to Siddaramaiah targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for describing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the 'world's biggest NGO', during his address to the nation from the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day on Friday. Siddaramaiah had on Friday claimed the RSS is 'the world's biggest for-political-profit, for-hate, and most divisive organisation-unregistered, non-tax-paying, and conspiring to pit Indians against each other.' 'It's no surprise CM Siddaramaiah jumps at every chance to attack the RSS. It's not conviction - it's compulsion. It's not ideology - it's insurance. It's not belief - it's survival,' Ashoka said. In a post on 'X', he claimed that Siddaramaiah attacks the RSS to impress the Gandhi family and prove loyalty to the Congress high command, to keep the CM chair safe from the factional knives in his own party, and to distract from his government's failures, by demonising an organisation that serves the nation selflessly. 'Smear RSS = Please Gandhis + Protect Chair + Distract from Failures. A guarantee solution for CM Siddaramaiah's -- how to save the chair -- problem!' he added.

‘Nandhan' sparks social transformation, Sasikumar and director Saravanan express happiness, video goes viral

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country on Friday (15.08.2025). The national flag was hoisted in all government offices, schools, and colleges, and people celebrated together in patriotism. But for many years, in some parts of Tamil Nadu, panchayat presidents from certain communities were denied permission to hoist the national flag in their offices. A strong voice was raised about this situation in the Tamil film 'Nandhan', which was released last year. Sasikumar calls it a historic change As a symbol of this change, on Independence Day this year, Panchayat Presidents of a particular community hoisted the flag in their offices without any restrictions. The 'Nandhan' team is happy to see this as their success. 'Nandhan' hero Sasikumar wrote on his Instagram page, "All the Dalit Panchayat leaders in Tamil Nadu have hoisted the flag on the 79th Independence Day. This is a huge change. On behalf of 'Nandan', we would like to thank everyone who supported us. " Director Saravanan credits govt action and Nandhan's impact 'Nandhan' director Saravanan also expressed his gratitude. He said, "The demand made by the film Nandan was fulfilled. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Police protection was also provided at some places. In an unprecedented change, this year, all the Dalit leaders in charge have hoisted the national flag on Independence Day. This is a great pride for us," he said, sharing a related video on social media. Seeman hails milestone Meanwhile, Naam Tamilar Party leader Seeman said, 'The news that the leaders of the Aadithamizhgudi Panchayat Council hoisted the flag on Independence Day without any hindrance this year is heartening. The Tamil Nadu government issued a special order for this, and the main reason for that was the movie Nandan, which was released last year. The impact of that movie was the impetus for this social change,' he said. This has once again proven how great an impact a work of art can have on society.
