Aanchal Munjal 'Regrets' Rejecting Aamir Khan's Dangal: 'I Felt Disheartened'
Aanchal Munjal is currently seen in Pocket FM's mini-series Gambler. She is also known for television shows like Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi and Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. Aanchal Munjal has revealed that she was offered Aamir Khan's 2016 movie Dangal, but she could not do it because she was shooting for another project back then. In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18 Showsha, the actress claimed that she was finalised for the role of Babita but when she opted out of it, Sanya Malhotra was considered. 'Not just offered. I was almost finalised. But there was another project that I was busy with and they needed just a couple of days more. Dates were going to clash. I feel like I should have done it (Dangal). I could have done it. Maybe there is something better in store for me," she told us. 'I felt disheartened when I couldn't do it. Maybe there was a little bit of heartbreak also. But when I watched the film, I loved what Sania and Fatima pulled off. I loved how the film came out. I was really happy," she added. While Aanchal could not be a part of Dangal, she made a special appearance in Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 in 2024. Talking about being a part of Sukumar directorial, the actress shared, 'I think it took my name to a bigger level. I was sceptical that people in the Hindi film industry would not take it well that I was doing a character role because they typecast you as a character artist. But my whole idea was – I am going to proceed with with as a special appearance and that's what I am going to get to the audience. When the film was released, I wasn't expecting too much out of it. But the whole world has seen. I got calls and messages from all over the world. My Instagram was filled with messages. I couldn't open it because I would get so many notifications, so many DMs, so many stories in the day. It was flooded." Aanchal, who is also known for television shows like Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi and Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, revealed that even though her character initially had dialogues, it was cut during the final edit. 'Initially, in the script, there was no dialogue. I went on sets and Sukumar sir loved my whole appearance so much that he added 2-3 dialogues, but when they sat on the final edit table, he realised that this can't be put because it was from where Pushpa's graph was changing. He was going international. Then he decided to drop my dialogues," she shared. Aanchal Munjal is currently seen in Pocket FM's mini-series Gambler. The actress concluded while talking about it and said, 'My first reaction to doing this show was excitement because I had never really done a vertical serial before. I was like, I would love to work with Pocket TV, and it is a short drama, something that I have never tried before. The moment I heard about the concept and the script, I was like, this is game on.
