Female student believed murdered at Cyberjaya condominium
SEPANG: A student of a local university was found dead, believed to have been murdered, in a condominium in Cyberjaya on Tuesday (June 24).
Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said a police team went to the scene after receiving a report regarding the discovery of the 20-year-old female student at 10.28am.
He said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene, and initial investigations found that there were no signs of a break-in.
Further examination of the body found there were injuries to the head due to blunt force trauma, he said in a statement on Thursday (June 26).
Norhizam said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and urged those with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer, ASP Mohd Husny Hussien, at 012-930 7860 or a nearby police station.
"The police are taking this incident seriously and advise the public to remain calm, not to speculate or share false information, which could affect the investigation and not to take any action that could violate the law," he said. - Bernama

IPOH: The post-mortem results of a man found dead with stab wounds to the abdomen at a house in Taman Tasek Damai here on Tuesday have revealed a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. The victim's son, upon returning home from work, found the house in disarray and immediately alerted the authorities. Initial forensic findings indicated that the victim had suffered stab wounds to the right side of the abdomen and slash injuries to the right side of the chest. A wooden-handled knife, approximately 22cm long, was found in the kitchen sink. Although it had been cleaned, forensic swab tests suggest it may have been the murder weapon. Following this, police arrested a 31-year-old man to assist in the investigation into his father's death. He was detained at 12.15am yesterday. The man, who has no criminal record, has been remanded for seven days until next Tuesday.

He was alleged to have received RM3,000 in bribes from a restaurant manager as an inducement not to take legal action against the premises for breach of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009. JOHOR BAHRU, June 26 (Bernama) -- An Assistant Environmental Health Officer pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to a charge of accepting a bribe of RM3,000 last year. Mohd Azrul Nazwan was charged with committing the offence at a restaurant in Merlin Tower, Jalan Meldrum here between 8 pm and 9 pm on July 25 last year. The charge, under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 (Act 694), provides a prison sentence not exceeding twenty years and a fine of not less than five times the amount or value of the bribe that is the subject matter of the offence if the bribe can be assessed or is in the form of money, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction. Judge Ahmad Kamal allowed him bail of RM5,000 with one surety and also ordered him to report to the Johor Bahru MACC office once a month and surrender his passport to the court.
