Eamonn Holmes breaks down over heated clash with boss who threw mug at him
Eamonn Holmes has opened up about a distressing encounter with a former boss that left him in tears back in his early journalism days. The GB News presenter has a stellar career behind him, gracing screens on GMTV, Sky News, and This Morning.
Although he hasn't always had a smooth journey to becoming the renowned broadcaster he is today. He shared a particularly tough memory from when he was aged just 22-years-old.
Eamonn recalled, "My sports editor called me in and he said 'what's wrong with that script?' I read it, and I remember it was about darts. I went 'I don't know'. The next minute he fired a ceramic cup bang against the wall behind me. It smashed."
However the confrontation didn't end there, as Eamonn was quizzed again about the errors in his script. Despite his confusion, the situation escalated according to reports in the Mirror.
"He then lifted up a telephone, which had a wire on the end of it. He fired it and it hit the wall behind me," Eamonn recounted to his colleagues at GB News who were said to be left astonished.
Trying to maintain composure, he struggled with his emotions. "I am beginning to feel my top lip shudder and I am going, don't cry, don't cry here. He said 'what is wrong with that script'."
Eamonn couldn't identify any problems despite quivering under pressure, which only angered his boss further. The incident reached a peak when his boss threw a heavy typewriter.
"He then lifted this Adler typewriter – metal Adler typewriter – and threw it down at my feet that I had to jump for," he shockingly revealed. "I then started to cry. I was 22-years of age and I thought this is awful."
In another revelation, Eamonn disclosed that a producer, who he regarded as his "protector at the building", intervened on his behalf. "He just went up, and went into the office and this guy was a very big sports guy and he punched him," Eamonn disclosed.
The former This Morning host confessed that he never discovered the reason behind his script's controversy despite the chaos it triggered. However, this incident wasn't an isolated encounter with tension among his colleagues.
Just last month, Eamonn described certain ex-colleagues as "horrible" and "false, false, false". In a recent episode of his podcast, Things We Like, Eamonn chatted with co-host Paul Coyte and actor Ray Winstone.
Ray shared stories of his life in LA and the Hollywood buzz that drew him back to the UK. Eamonn leapt on the topic, launching a scathing critique of the entertainment industry.
Using a mocking tone, Eamonn commented: "I don't like this character, I don't like so and so, I like that person, I didn't get on with them. That's what the business is based on. I mean, I'm like you [Ray]. I get myself into trouble because if I don't like someone, they'll know I don't like them."
The broadcaster continued to vent, saying: "And there are so many horrible people that you end up with. People say: 'Oh, he's lovely, he's fantastic'. If they say to me: 'What's that Ray Winstone like?' I'll say he is lovely and he is fantastic and people will believe me because I wouldn't say it if you weren't, but so many are just false, false, false."

Josie Gibson furiously defends Olivia Attwood over This Morning backlash
Josie Gibson shares her thoughts on Olivia Attwood's latest presenting role on This Morning amid huge backlash by trolls as some threaten to boycott show Josie Gibson has hit back at trolls in defence of Olivia Attwood after she became the victim of cruel jibes following her new presenting role on This Morning. Fans of the ITV daytime TV show have even threatened to boycott the show reportedly due to her rise to fame from Love Island, in 2017. The 34 year old TV personality, who has since gone on to be a panellist on Loose Women and host her own podcast, had appeared on the third series of the reality TV show. But Olivia is not the first person to have a reality TV background, so too has Josie Gibson, Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark. Both women were on Big Brother and Rylan shot to fame from X Factor. So it's perhaps understandable why Josie, 40, has decided to break her silence. It comes after it was announced that Olivia had landed yet another huge TV job. In an interview with The Sun, the mum of one who appeared on Big Brother in 2010, said: "Oh my God she's brilliant. It's brilliant she gets to do this and I think she's really good. Yeah, really good. Honestly, you get some backlash like that in this industry and I really don't know why people do it." She added: "I'll never understand why people do it, you know. To me, I've always loved to see people do well and I genuinely love it. I love it when people succeed and I want to bring everybody up and make sure everybody has a go on the horses, do you know what I mean? " While on This Morning to discuss her new TV show The Price of Perfection in June, Olivia revealed her news to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd. Engineering the conversation, Ben told the former Love Island star "We've got some big news about This Morning and you in the summer." In response Olivia said: "I have some news yes, it's very exciting. I'll be joining you guys on the hosting team on the other side of the sofa." The TV duo then gestured for Olivia to sit on their side of the sofa to "feel what it's like." Getting up to switch her seat, the newbie said: "This is even more surreal." Complimenting the new addition to the presenting team, Cat said: "We look amazing together." And this prompted Olivia to ask Cat: "Shall we do a show together?" The Loose Women panellist add more detail to her announcement as she said: "So it's a couple of shows, I'm very excited, it's a huge honour. I've grown up watching this show, and being part of the ITV presenting team with Loose Women has been a great experience so this just feels like a very natural progression." Olivia was brought in to replace Ben and Cat when they take time off for their six week holiday. But her new role divided fans. One person wrote: "So Attwood is going to be co-hosting #ThisMorning over the summer. FFS like we don't get enough of her on #Loosewomen, surprised they haven't asked that talentless Sam Thompson to step in as well!" Another added: "How many more viewers do they want to lose? Attwood joining the team is really poor decision." A third said: "Just when you think the presenters can't get any worse they decide to take on Olivia Attwood." Meanwhile a fourth penned: "Well done … That's another step downhill for this show! I wonder who else will be hosting over the summer?" But not everyone thought her inclusion was a bad idea. One fan of the ITV show wrote: "It's great that Olivia Attwood will be a presenter on This Morning, she'll be fantastic." And a second said: "Love Olivia, will definitely be tuning in."

Olivia concluded by acknowledging her journey, "It's been a lot of hard work, but I've always stayed focused on my goals and believed in myself and I'm very thankful for ITV in believing me." Ex-drug mule Michaella McCollum signed up to Celebrity SAS to ‘push myself'
McCollum, from Dungannon, Co Tyrone, in Northern Ireland, was caught trying to smuggle 24lb (11kg) of cocaine worth £1.5 million out of Peru with accomplice Melissa Reid in 2013. The pair, known as the 'Peru Two', were jailed for six years and eight months after admitting the crime but were freed in 2016 after striking a deal with Peruvian authorities. McCollum told ITV's This Morning: 'Reality type TV series, I've never really been interested in doing anything like that, but I think SAS, there's no other show like that. 'So I thought it would be a really good way to test myself and try and push myself and do something completely different. 'So it was the one show I was like, you know what? I feel like I've been pushed to my limit through other experiences. Why not try this? Never in my life am I gonna face these type of challenges.' The Channel 4 reality spin-off series follows 14 famous faces as they endure special forces training in an attempt to make it through SAS selection. McCollum said: 'I did that show for me. I wanted to improve myself and push myself. It wasn't, 'I'm doing this because I want people to like me.'' Asked if she was worried about being subject to scrutiny, she said: 'Not really, because I know that's always going to exist. 'And any kind of decisions and things I make, there's always that kind of scrutiny. So I thought, whether I do the show, there'll always be some kind of talk about that.' Speaking about what it was like to stay in prison, she said: 'It's obviously extreme, but I feel like I was incredibly adaptable, like I just kind of got along with it. 'And I think for the first part, I felt so guilty and bad. I kind of just thought: 'OK, I deserve it. I'll just suck it up. I'll just get along with it.' 'But I feel like it made me an amazing person. I came back when I was 23.' Among the other famous faces taking part in the programme are professional boxer Conor Benn, S Club star Hannah Spearritt and the first celebrity deaf recruit, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri. Airing across eight one-hour episodes, the seventh series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins will be available to watch on Channel 4 every Sunday and Monday from 9pm starting on August 3.
