Two events held by Zakat Authority Branch & Jiblah University to commemorate Wilayah Day in Ibb

Saba Yemen22-06-2025
Ibb - Saba:
The branch of the Zakat Authority in Ibb Province organized a cultural event on Sunday to commemorate Wilayah Day, the auspicious Eid al-Ghadir, under the slogan "For whomsoever I am his Mawla, Ali is his Mawla."
During the event, Sheikh Muqbil Al-Kadhi, a member of the Yemeni Scholars Association, emphasized that sincere and practical allegiance to the Wilayah (guardianship) of Imam Ali guarantees the dignity of this nation. He pointed out that following the divine Wilayah protects the nation from aligning with its enemies, the Jews and Christians.
Al-Kadhi reviewed the events at Ghadir Khumm, where a massive gathering of Muslims witnessed a solemn scene during the Prophet's (PBUH) return from the Farewell Pilgrimation, under divine command. He recalled the Hadith of Wilayah, which is documented in both Sunni and Shia sources.
The event featured speeches and poetic recitations highlighting the importance of commemorating this day as a great occasion that strengthens allegiance to the path of Wilayah—devotion to Allah, His Messenger, and Imam Ali—for its profound impact on preserving the nation's honor, dignity, and unity.
In a related event, Jiblah University of Medical Sciences and Jiblah University Hospital organized a speech and cultural event to mark Eid al-Ghadir, the day of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib's (AS) Wilayah.
University President Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari stated that Wilayah Day represents an exceptional and pivotal occasion that established the divine Wilayah as the nation's path, extending beyond the Prophet's (PBUH) passing.
He stressed the urgent need for the nation to return to the path of Imam Ali's Wilayah, which is an extension of the Prophet's guardianship and, in turn, an extension of Allah's Wilayah—ensuring the nation's protection from deviation or division.
Dr. Al-Matari praised the stance of the revolutionary and political leadership, along with the free people of Yemen and the Yemeni Armed Forces' heroic military operations in support of Gaza. He noted that this stance is a natural outcome of their adherence to the path of allegiance to Allah, His Noble Messenger, and Imam Ali.

Women's Authority in Hajjah organizes solidarity vigils with Palestinian people in Gaza

Hajjah – Saba: The Women's Authority in Hajjah governorate organized on Friday several solidarity vigils with the Palestinian people under the slogan: "Steadfast with Gaza... Our Readiness Is High to Face All Enemy Conspiracies." Participants in the vigils held in various areas raised both Palestinian and Yemeni flags, along with banners expressing disavowal of the enemies of Islam, traitors, and collaborators. The participants condemned the horrific crimes committed by the Zionist enemy against children and women in Gaza, including its policy of starvation and thirst aimed at exterminating the people of the Strip and using humanitarian aid as a trap for killing. They also denounced the ongoing efforts of the usurping Zionist entity to Judaize Jerusalem through the expansion of settlement outposts and demolition of Palestinian homes. The vigils strongly condemned the disgraceful stances of Arab and Islamic regimes regarding the brutal crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza and the West Bank, and the aggression against Lebanon, in full view of the world. A statement issued by the vigils affirmed continued broad-based activity as part of a principled stance of jihad for the sake of Allah, fulfillment of responsibility, and steadfastness in a comprehensive, clear, firm, and escalating position in support of the Palestinian people. The statement called on all Muslims to support the courageous resistance in Gaza with weapons and everything that would strengthen their steadfastness, considering it the sound and wise option. It also warned that the Zionist-American enemy's activation of its agents inside and outside the Ummah to pressure the resistance in Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon — using local and regional tools under the guise of 'interests' — is merely part of the broader aggression against the Ummah using deceptive tactics. The statement concluded by calling on all Arab and Islamic peoples to rise up, raise their voices, protect al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites, and stand in solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian people. Houthis continue to attack education in Yemen

The Houthis are targeting education in northern Yemen, using schools to force their extremist ideology on young, impressionable Yemenis. Teachers and principals who refuse to comply with the Iran-backed terrorist group's initiatives face arrest. To ensure ideological conformity in teaching, the Houthis force schools to teach notebooks from the group's founder, Hussein al Houthi. In addition to learning from sectarian textbooks, students are now required to recite Houthi slogans each day. They include the infamous scream, 'God is the greatest, death to America, death to Israel, a curse upon the Jews, victory to Islam.' For example, in Taiz Governorate, the Houthi education office issued a document mandating that the scream be recited in a morning assembly and documented. Schools submit video evidence to Houthi authorities of students reciting the slogan. Beyond forcing ideology into the classroom, the Houthis have also pulled students out of school and compel them to participate in the group's marches. Middle and elementary school students have been required to attend these marches during a weekday, in some cases multiple times within a week. The Houthis have threatened teachers and students when children haven't participated. Unfortunately for vulnerable students, teachers and administrators routinely face serious repercussions if they fail to comply with Houthi directives. According to the Yemeni news site Yemen Shabab, in the week of July 27 alone, 13 'teachers, mosque imams, and other respected figures' were detained in Taiz Governorate. The week prior, another campaign targeted at least seven teachers and other influential individuals, most of whom were involved in education. Additional regions in Yemen have also reported arbitrary detentions targeting educators. The Houthis have no legal justification for these 'arrests,' and individuals are held without trial or charges. The Iran-backed terrorist group has a long history of arbitrarily detaining civilians. The Houthis have also targeted the higher education sector. Fares al Hemyari, a journalist specializing in Yemen, reported that university academics and administrators have been required to attend both ideological and combat training sessions. The combat courses include weapons training, and the participants are required to pledge loyalty to the Houthis. These recent efforts aren't the first instances of the Houthis using the education system to expand their ideological reach since taking power in northern Yemen. For example, the group previously placed family members of Hussein al Houthi in leadership positions within the Ministry of Education. Throughout the years, the Houthis have also made numerous decisions that undermine the independence of the education systems in the territory they control. At the end of April 2025, the group decided to terminate English courses for students before fourth grade, opting instead to use that time for Quranic lessons and Arabic instruction. The group has also attempted to reach students through annual summer camps. These camps provide another avenue for the Houthis to indoctrinate Yemeni youth, beginning at age six. Young boys also receive military training, and the group is known to recruit child soldiers, with some human rights groups reporting recruits 'as young as 13.'

Taiz: Graduation ceremony held for economic empowerment project beneficiaries in Taiz & Lahj

Taiz - Saba: The General Authority of Zakat branch in Taiz province organized a graduation ceremony on Tuesday for the beneficiaries of the Economic Empowerment Project, marking the launch of professional and production toolkits for the graduates under the slogan 'Building and Empowerment.' The project, implemented by the Zakat Authority's branch, targeted 374 beneficiaries from the governorates of Taiz and Lahj. Professional toolkits were distributed to them at a total cost of 344 million Yemeni riyals, funded by the local Zakat branch. During the event held at Al-Rasoul Al-Azam Square in the province center, and attended by several Shura Council members, the Chairman of the General Authority of Zakat, Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, congratulated the graduates of the Economic Empowerment Project, which aims to address the conditions of a broad segment of the poor, including youth and women. 'We are here today, by the grace of God, implementing one of the pillars of Islam—Zakat,' said Abu Nashtan. 'No individual deserves credit for this project except Allah, and the revolutionary and political leadership that has worked to implement God's law through the proper disbursement of zakat.' He added, 'Zakat projects are now emerging into the light, including the Economic Empowerment Project in the proud governorate of Taiz.' He praised the graduates' engagement and the steadfastness of the people of Taiz, who have demonstrated that plots against them will be defeated by their resilience. Abu Nashtan emphasized that the Economic Empowerment Project aligns with the vision of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and President of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat. 'We at the Zakat Authority are honored to implement this project under the patronage of the Leader of the Revolution, the strong supporter of Yemen's vulnerable people, and the President of the Supreme Political Council,' he said. He explained that the project included initiatives for 'professional empowerment, supporting productive families, and small-scale projects,' benefiting 374 people, ensuring their right to zakat. He confirmed that the beneficiaries are now qualified to be integrated into the labor market after training at vocational institutes. He noted that the project contributes to combating unemployment through value chains, helping to achieve self-sufficiency by empowering youth across various fields. 'Zakat was previously neglected and its law abolished by former regimes, but today, we witness the anxiety of our enemies in the face of zakat initiatives that reach the poor and the weak,' he stated. Abu Nashtan also highlighted future zakat projects for Taiz, particularly those targeting people with disabilities. In his remarks on behalf of the local authority, Taiz Mobilization Official Mohammad al-Khalidi congratulated the male and female graduates, noting that the project was carried out under the supervision of the local authority and the Zakat Authority. He emphasized that the graduation is a powerful indication of the Zakat Authority's commitment to the poor and underprivileged youth seeking a better life. He praised the Revolution Leader's dedication to restoring the rightful role and function of zakat. Al-Khalidi also called on merchants and those obligated to pay zakat to fulfill this duty, noting the visible impact it has had on beneficiaries. During the event, which was also attended by Zakat Authority officials Mohammed Al-Ayani (Banks Sector) and Ali Al-Zurafi (Awareness and Training Sector), the Director of the Zakat Branch in Taiz, Shawqi Mughlis, expressed his happiness at the graduation and toolkit distribution, which will help graduates enter the workforce in technical and vocational professions. 'Zakat has succeeded in lifting many families from need to productivity. It is now a blessing thanks to the sincere efforts of the Authority's leadership and the patronage of the Revolution Leader,' said Mughlis, adding that the country had been deprived of such blessings for decades. He described the Zakat Authority as one of the fruits of the September 21st Revolution, fulfilling the third pillar of Islam and translating major projects into reality with fairness and a commitment to restoring people's dignity. On behalf of the graduates, engineer Razaz al-Sumaydi delivered a speech affirming that their graduation followed months of education, hands-on training, and professional practice to prepare for integration into the labor market and embark on a new chapter in life. He added that the training involved lectures, workshops, and practical experience to make the most of time, develop abilities, and build skills. The ceremony concluded with a poem by poet Ahmed Abbad, followed by honoring Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan and Mohammad al-Khalidi by Dr. Ahmed al-Amiri, Head of the Taiz University – Al-Huban Branch.
