Amit Kumar reveals Kishore Kumar was asked to pay a bribe by someone in the Ministry in exchange for a National Award: ‘He was told, give something, we'll nominate you'
's legacy as one of India's most iconic and versatile playback singers is undisputed. But what continues to baffle fans and music lovers is the fact that the legendary artist never received a National Film Award.
In a recent interview, his son and fellow singer
Amit Kumar
shed light on a shocking reason behind this:
Kishore
was once asked to pay a bribe in exchange for an award nomination.
During a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Amit Kumar confirmed that his father came close to winning a National Award for his directorial venture Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein in 1964. The film, a commercial and critical success, marked a turning point in Kishore Kumar's career after his acting projects began faltering.
Revealing the behind-the-scenes politics, Amit said, 'Yes, that happened. He got a call from Delhi from someone in the Ministry. At that time, Haqeeqat, Dosti, and Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein were being considered (for the National Award). They told my father, 'If you do something, give something, then we can get you nominated.' My father was like, 'Why are you after my life? My film is a hit.''
Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, which featured both Kishore and a young Amit Kumar in key roles, was an Indian adaptation of the 1958 Hollywood film The Proud Rebel.

The Hindi version struck gold at the box office, especially in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, where it enjoyed a silver jubilee run. Ironically, while the Hindi version didn't win the National Award, its Tamil remake Ramu, made by a filmmaker to whom Kishore sold the rights, went on to win the prestigious honour.

'The film ran for 23 weeks at Super Cinema. In Delhi-UP, the film was a silver jubilee. Then he sold the rights to a Tamil filmmaker.
The remake was called Ramu. That won the National Award,' Amit added, highlighting the bitter irony.
Though best known for his soulful voice and unique singing style, Kishore Kumar was also a passionate filmmaker. He directed 12 films in his career, out of which eight were released and four remained incomplete. His final directorial, Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein, considered a spiritual sequel to Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, was released posthumously in 1990 and featured Amit Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, and

Tollywood actor Jagapathi Babu uploaded a video called Preminchukundham Randi (let us love) on YouTube in which he addressed fan queries and comments on his life, career and Tollywood. When a fan commented that Telugu cinema was 'boring' and that nepotism in the industry was hindering new talent from succeeding, here's how he responded. Jagapathi Babu uploaded a video titled Preminchukundham Randi in which he addressed fan questions and comments. Jagapathi Babu on Telugu cinema being 'boring' and nepotism Jagapathi read the comment out loud and stated that he does not agree with either statement made by the fan. He said, 'If Telugu cinema is boring, don't watch it then.' The actor then addressed the nepotism comment, talking of how being producer-director VB Rajendra Prasad opened doors for him, but he had to struggle to sustain. He said, 'It's not true that nepotism is stopping new talent from entering the film industry. You see so many new actors thriving on OTT and in small films today, and how some kids from film families don't succeed. Take me for example, I am from a film family, and it did not help me with anything other than to enter the industry. I have to struggle to sustain myself.' Tollywood's biggest stars hail from film families like Konidela, Allu, Akkineni, Ghattamaneni, Daggubati, and more. While actors like the late NTR, ANR, Krishna, or Chiranjeevi were pioneers in films, their children and other family members have followed in their footsteps to become the film industry's biggest stars today. About Jagapathi Babu Jagapathi has worked primarily in Telugu films but also in a few Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. He debuted as a lead with the 1989 film Simha Swapnam and tasted success in the 1990s and early 2000s. After seeing the lead roles dry up, he turned to playing antagonist roles, starring in the 2014 Balakrishna-starrer Legend. He has had a second innings in cinema since then. Last seen in Pushpa 2: The Rule, Jagapathi will soon star in Peddi with Ram Charan.

After Mrunal Thakur, Kareena Kapoor Khan gets trolled on the internet for her comments on other actors in old interviews, netizens call her the 'OG mean girl'
Mrunal Thakur , who was recently seen with Ajay Devgn in 'Son of Sardaar 2', has been in the news after an old video of her resurfaced online. In the clip which was from her television days when she was doing 'Kumkum Bhagya', Mrunal mocked Bipasha Basu for her 'muscles' and said she was 'far better'. After facing backlash from netizens, she apologised. Now, another actress is being criticised online for being very mean to other actors as a Reddit post recalls all the rude comments she's made. A viral Reddit thread has dug up snippets from Kareena's old interviews. A user shared a magazine cover of the actress with some of her quotes about other actresses and in the caption, called her the 'OG mean girl'. After losing 'Devdas' to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Kareena had called Sanjay Leela Bhansali a 'confused director' with 'no morals and principles'. She also once claimed that Sridevi 'never had a historical hit'. Talking about 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' (2000), which was meant to be her debut before she walked out, Kareena said Rakesh Roshan focused more on Hrithik Roshan , while Ameesha Patel had 'pimples and under-eye bags' in some scenes. The actress had once called Bipasha Basu 'kaali beeli'. When she was asked about it on 'Aap Ki Adalat', she said, she will call herself 'gori billi'. Kareena didn't stop there. She called Salman Khan a 'bad actor' in one interview and also stated that 'being fat is not sexy'. Netizens are now reacting strongly. One wrote, 'Pooh in real life!' Another commented, 'I always point that out. Her fans pass her mean behaviour as 'Sassy' and call her real life 'Poo' as if it's an achievement 🙄.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night?
