JPJ to audit 500 high-risk vehicle operators nationwide
Its director-general, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, said the operation was carried out in line with the directive from the Transport Minister Anthony Loke to investigate PSV and GCV operators to ensure compliance with the audit process stipulated under the Land Public Transport Act (APAD).
He said the main focus of the operation is to assess the company's compliance level with safety aspects, vehicle maintenance, driver management, and compliance records under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and related regulations.
'The enforcement of the JISA Special Op involves the implementation of Safety Inspection and Audit Reports that focus on compliance with the Industrial Code of Practice (ICOP) regarding safety in the transportation industry.
'Additionally, there will be the review and resolution of outstanding issues for vehicle owners and drivers, as well as compliance with the Vehicle Technical Plan,' he said at a press conference after officiating the Penang-level MyLesen B2 Driving Licence Programme 2025 presentation ceremony here today.
Aedy Fadly emphasised that the action was taken following the recent frequent accidents involving heavy vehicles, including the bus crash that claimed the lives of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students on June 9.
Commenting further, he said his team had also identified the list of involved companies obtained from the APAD and JPJ list through a review of outstanding summonses.
'Based on statistics, the JPJ has identified a category of high-risk operators, which includes 300 lorries, 100 tour buses and 100 express buses,' he also said.
He added that strict action will be taken against any operator found to be violating regulations or neglecting safety aspects, including issuing notices of violation, suspension, or cancellation of vocational driving licenses (PSV/GDL) or company operator licences.

Company director fined RM10,000 for submitting false bank statement
KUALA LUMPUR: A company director received a RM10,000 fine from the Sessions Court today for submitting a falsified bank statement during a commercial vehicle licence application. Judge Suzana Hussin imposed the penalty on thirty-eight year old Loh Jui Chew after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge. Loh promptly paid the fine following the court's decision. He faced charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using a counterfeit Maybank statement during his application at the Land Public Transport Agency office. The offence carries a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment or a fine or both upon conviction. Loh submitted the fraudulent document to APAD on 15 September 2022 while applying for a commercial vehicle licence. Court documents revealed that Loh operates JC Tech Advance Auto Sdn Bhd, a management service business established in 2019. His company provides services related to APAD, the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre and the Road Transport Department. A man approached Loh at his Melaka office on 10 August 2022 seeking assistance with a commercial vehicle licence application. The application required several documents including a Companies Commission of Malaysia submission, three-month bank statements, a vehicle parking site letter and a work contract letter. Loh proceeded to falsify the man's Maybank account statement between August and September 2022. He submitted the fabricated documents along with the application to the Central Region APAD counter officer. The APAD Licensing Committee approved the application on 21 September 2022 before discovering the fraud. Deputy Public Prosecutor Elyza Amira Habeeb Rahman from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuted the case. KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Road Transport Department (KL JPJ) impounded three stage buses at tourist hotspots in the city centre on Sunday (Aug 17).
