Candlelight Vigil in San Francisco Commemorates Tiananmen Massacre Victims

Epoch Times05-06-2025

On the evening of June 3, hundreds of people gathered at Portsmouth Square in San Francisco to hold a candlelight vigil in memory of the pro-democracy movement that occurred in China 36 years ago.
On June 4, 1989, in what is now known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) deployed large numbers of troops and tanks to violently suppress students who were participating in pro-democracy protests at Tiananmen Square. The communist regime subsequently covered up the number of deaths and injuries.

House bipartisan bill directs NSA to create 'AI security playbook' amid Chinese tech race

FIRST ON FOX – Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Ill., is introducing a new bill Thursday imploring the National Security Administration (NSA) to develop an "AI security playbook" to stay ahead of threats from China and other foreign adversaries. The bill, dubbed the "Advanced AI Security Readiness Act," directs the NSA's Artificial Intelligence Security Center to develop an "AI Security Playbook to address vulnerabilities, threat detection, cyber and physical security strategies, and contingency plans for highly sensitive AI systems." It is co-sponsored by House Select Committee on China Chairman Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Mich., Ranking Member Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., and Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J. LaHood, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee and the House Select Committee on China, told Fox News Digital that the legislative proposal, if passed, would be the first time Congress codifies a "multi-prong approach to ensure that the U.S. remains ahead in the advanced technology race against the CCP." The new bill follows another bipartisan legislative proposal, the "Chip Security Act," which he introduced in late May. That proposal aims to improve export control mechanisms – including for chips and high-capacity chip manufacturing – protect covered AI technologies with a focus on cybersecurity, and limit outbound investment to firms directly tied to the Chinese Community Party or China's People's Liberation Army. Chinese Bioweapon Smuggling Case Shows Us 'Trains Our Enemies,' 'Learned Nothing' From Covid: Security Expert "We start with the premise that China has a plan to replace the United States. And I don't say that to scare people or my constituents, but they have a plan to replace the United States, and they're working on it every single day. And that entails stealing data and infiltrating our systems," LaHood told Fox News Digital. "AI is the next frontier on that. We lead the world in technology. We lead the world when it comes to AI. But what this bill will do will again make sure that things are done the right way and the correct way, and that we're protecting our assets and promoting the current technology that we have in our country." Read On The Fox News App LaHood pointed to evidence uncovered by the committee that he said shows the CCP's DeepSeek used illegal distillation techniques to steal insights from U.S. AI models to accelerate their own technology development. He also pointed to how China allegedly smuggled AI chips through Singapore intermediaries to circumvent U.S. export controls on the technology. "As we look at, 'How do we win the strategic competition?' I think most experts would say we're ahead in AI right now against China, but not by much. It is a short lead," LaHood told Fox News Digital. He said he is confident his legislative proposals will put the U.S. "in the best position to protect our assets here and make sure that we're not shipping things that shouldn't go to AI that allow them to win the AI race in China." "Whoever wins this race in the future, it's going to be critical to future warfare capabilities, to, obviously, cybersecurity," LaHood continued. "And then, whoever wins the AI competition is going to yield really unwavering economic influence in the future. And so we're aggressive in this bill in terms of targeting those areas where we need to protect our AI and our companies here in the United States, both on the commercial side and on the government side, to put us in the best position possible." The "Advanced AI Security Readiness Act" calls on the NSA to develop a playbook that identifies vulnerabilities in AI data centers and developers producing sensitive AI technologies with an emphasis on unique "threat vectors" that do not typically arise, or are less severe, in the context of conventional information technology systems." The bill says the NSA must develop "core insights" in how advanced AI systems are being trained to identify potential interferences and must develop strategies to "detect, prevent and respond to cyber threats by threat actors targeting covered AI technologies." Amazon Announces $20B Investment In Rural Pennsylvania For Ai Data Centers The bill calls on the NSA to "identify levels of security, if any, that would require substantial involvement" by the U.S. government "in the development or oversight of highly advanced AI systems." It cites a "hypothetical initiative to build covered AI technology systems in a highly secure government environment" with certain protocols in place, such as personnel vetting and security clearance processes, to mitigate "insider threats." Though not directly related, the new bill is being introduced a week after FBI Director Kash Patel sounded the alarm on how the CCP continues to deploy operatives and researchers to "infiltrate" U.S. institutions. Patel laid out the risk in announcing that two Chinese nationals were charged with smuggling a potential bioweapon into the U.S. LaHood said that case further highlights "the level of penetration and sophistication that the CCP will engage in," but he added that his bill focuses on putting a "protective layer" on U.S. AI tech and "restricting outbound investment to China." He pointed to how the CCP also has bought up farmland around strategic U.S. national security locations, particularly in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. "If everything was an even playing field, and we were all abiding by the same rules and standards and ethical guidelines, I have no doubt the U.S. would win [the AI race], but China has a tendency and a history of playing by a different set of rules and standards," LaHood said. "They cheat, they steal, they take our intellectual property. Not just my opinion, that's been factually laid out, you know, in many different instances. And that's the reason why we need to have a bill like this." The bill comes as the Trump administration has been pushing to bolster artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States, and major tech companies, including Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, OpenAI, Oracle and others, have made major investments in constructing AI-focused data centers and enhancing U.S. cloud computing. Last week, Amazon announced a $20 billion investment in constructing AI data centers in rural Pennsylvania. It followed a similar $10 billion investment in North Carolina. In late May, the NSA's Artificial Intelligence Security Center released "joint guidance" on the "risks and best practices in AI data security." The recommendations include implementing methods to secure the data used in AI-based systems, "such as employing digital signatures to authenticate trusted revisions, tracking data provenance, and leveraging trusted infrastructure." The center said its guidance is "critically relevant for organizations – especially system owners and administrators within the Department of Defense, National Security Systems, and the Defense Industrial Base – that already use AI systems in their day-to-day operations and those that are seeking to integrate AI into their infrastructure."Original article source: House bipartisan bill directs NSA to create 'AI security playbook' amid Chinese tech race

Former Chinese Military Doctor Leaks CCP Plan to Use Taiwanese Troops as Organ Bank

A former Chinese military doctor, who witnessed the Chinese communist regime's crimes of live organ harvesting, has warned that Beijing has outlined an intent, as well as the equipment and technology, to extract the blood and vital organs of surrendered Taiwanese troops in the event of a Taiwan invasion—in violation of international laws dictating the humane treatment of prisoners of war. Zheng Zhi, a former Chinese military doctor currently living in exile in Canada, traveled to Taiwan to answer audience questions at screenings of the award winning documentary 'State Organs' from June 4–15, which features Zheng's eye-witness account of the regime's forced organ harvesting crimes as a military doctor in China. The documentary, directed by Raymond Zhang, focuses on the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) systemic forced live organ harvesting that primarily targets Falun Gong practitioners in China in its more than two decades long persecution of the faith group that teaches living in accordance to the universal principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. The live organs-for-profit industry has become a massive industrial-scale supply chain facilitated by the CCP's extrajudicial powers in China, bringing in a huge amount of money for the regime. Lion Films, the Taiwanese distributor of 'State Organs,' invited Dr. Zheng as a special guest. Zheng and Ming Chu-cheng, an honorary professor of political science at the National Taiwan University, spoke at the post-screening Q&A session after the Taipei screening on June 4. Hsu Chih-chieh, a legislator in the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China (Taiwan) who was the main promoter of a legislation to combat and prevent organ harvesting, also came to the event to show support and call for joint efforts to end the atrocities by the CCP. Zheng said he was happy to visit Taiwan and to contribute to protecting it from the CCP. Related Stories 6/10/2025 6/11/2025 'I hope everyone will support the Legislative Yuan in passing the 'Anti-Organ Harvesting Act.' For the sake of the more than 23 million Taiwanese people, I am willing to travel to every region to tell everyone that I hope the evil of organ harvesting will no longer harm Taiwan,' Zheng said. 'The CCP's organ harvesting is real, and it's killing people on a large scale by taking their organs. This is horrific.' Surrendered Taiwanese Soldiers as Potential Organ Bank Zheng revealed that 'the CCP military makes a combat plan against Taiwan every year.' 'Once a war breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, the greatest pressure for them will be on logistics support because millions of troops may be mobilized to the front line of the Taiwan Strait,' he said. 'In addition, two to three million logistics personnel will be needed to provide support in order to fight.' He said that from the CCP's view, 'the most difficult part of the logistics to supply the front is the storage, refrigeration, and transportation of blood, as many soldiers will be bleeding or burnt in combat. So blood supply will become the biggest pressure.' For that reason, 'the CCP's military came up with a solution,' Zheng said. 'That is, when attacking Taiwan, they planned to put the surrendered Taiwanese officers and soldiers in detention and draw blood from them and give it to the wounded CCP soldiers, and also take pieces of skin from the Taiwanese soldiers and transplant them to the burnt CCP soldiers.' So if communist China invades Taiwan and the Taiwanese military surrenders, 'the first thing they will face is having their blood taken by the CCP because the Chinese military needs a large amount of blood locally,' Zheng warned of the extent of the CCP's military plans. No Morality, 'No Technical Barriers' Zheng said the regime has turned its back on morality and basic ethics. 'The CCP no longer has any bottom line of how to treat human beings. As long as the Taiwanese military surrenders or they are still alive, they are the best blood supply bank and organ bank for the CCP,' Zheng said. China has 'no technical barriers to harvesting organs from the surrendered Taiwanese troops who are alive,' considering 'current medical technology and the CCP's organ harvesting industry chain,' according to Zheng. 'It is quite easy. It's just a matter of the number of living people to be 'killed on demand,'' Zheng said. He added that the CCP's military, the PLA, has developed modular blood processing equipment, 'including blood testing and blood processing equipment, all of which are placed in containers for easy transportation.' When the CCP starts to invade Taiwan, 'it can be quickly transported to the front battlefield via container trucks, airplanes, etc., and can be set up immediately, just like a 'field hospital,'' Zheng said. Falun Gong practitioners re-enact illegal payment for human organs in Washington on April 19, 2016. Jim Watson/AFP via Getty Images Professor Ming agreed in the Q&A that 'the bottom line of the CCP's thinking is far lower than we imagined.' 'I just heard Zheng Zhi say a lot of things, which are still beyond my imagination,' he said, referring to the CCP's leaked plan to use surrendered live Taiwanese soldiers as a blood and organ bank in the event of invasion. Ming said that he was shocked after watching 'State Organs' to learn that live organ harvesting is still happening in China. He noted, as Zheng said, that the CCP's organ harvesting crimes are 'killing people on demand.' He said he wants to tell those Taiwanese people who are ready to surrender to the CCP in the hope of saving their lives that this may be the fate that awaits them. Lawyer Chen I-shen told The Epoch Times, responding to the CCP's military plans revealed by Zheng: 'Taiwanese, do you think you will be safe after surrendering to the CCP? Absolutely not!' 'What the Taiwanese can do is to unite and fight against the CCP! Let more people know the truth about the CCP! Only by fighting against the CCP can we protect a democratic and free Taiwan! Only then can there be true peace!' he urged his compatriots. Zhong Yuan contributed to this report.

Rep. Luna: China is dangerous, behind funding of protests

(NewsNation) — Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican, announced the House Oversight committee will be calling China-based billionaire Neville Singham to testify regarding the funding of a group that organized protests in Los Angeles. 'If he refuses to appear, he will be subpoenaed, and if he ignores that, he will be referred to the DOJ for prosecution,' Luna said in a post on social platform X. She alleged that the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a Communist political party to which Singham has previously donated, is also receiving funding from the Chinese Communist Party. The committee will be looking into links between Singham and the CCP, as well. Luna joined NewsNation's 'CUOMO' on Wednesday to discuss the investigation. She said she believes Singham and the CCP are purposely trying to create division within the United States. Hogg forgoes reelection for DNC vice chair 'I do believe the Chinese government knows what they're doing; they're smart and they're dangerous,' Luna said. She added that she believes they are creating a ruse with the protests and making Hispanic-Americans think the unrest going on is all about the recent ICE raids. Luna said during the Biden administration, then-Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Lindsey Graham asked then-U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Singham over Foreign Agents Registration Act violations and ties to China, but the administration did not follow up. 'It's not just me, but the entire Oversight committee in Congress,' Luna said. 'This is a different administration. We are not playing games. What you are seeing in real time is things are heating up. China is not our friend.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
