Former Dante and Irish Champion Stakes winner Economics has been ruled out of Royal Ascot - in the latest blow to ante-post punters

Last year's Irish Champion Stakes hero, who saw off former Derby king Auguste Rodin in an absolute thriller, was 9-2 second-fav for the blockbuster Group 1.
But Haggas said a pulled muscle means he is out, leaving Aidan O'Brien's Los Angeles clear at the head of the market at 5-2.
Haggas said: "Unfortunately, Economics won't make Royal Ascot and is out in the short term but it's no big deal and hopefully he can be back in action soon."
Economics has won four of six career races but hasn't been seen since bleeding when finishing sixth in last October's Champion Stakes at Ascot.
Speaking on the market move, William Hill's Lee Phelps said: "News that William Haggas' Economics has been ruled out of Royal Ascot has shaken up the Prince Of Wales's Stakes market.
"With one of his key competitors out, we have clipped Los Angeles from 7-2 to 3-1 at the head of the market.
"One horse we're now fearing could be a popular pick is Anmaat after a strong reappearance behind Los Angeles at the Curragh and the Champion Stakes winner could be the punters' pick at 4-1.
"Economics had been third in the betting but that place now belongs to Wathnan Racing's French raider, Map Of Stars (5-1)."
Economics' KO came less than 24 hours after O'Brien's Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Lake Victoria was ruled out.
Deemed by many to be the banker of the festival, she was odds on for the Group 1 Coronation Stakes over a mile.
A post from owners Coolmore on X read: "Lake Victoria will not run at Royal Ascot.
"She will have an easy few weeks and will return for a late summer/autumn campaign."
O'Brien, who won the Oaks and Derby last week, has seen three big favourites ruled out now.
Lake Victoria adds to former Gold Cup superstar Kyprios and Coventry fav Albert Einstein in being pulled.
Another Group 1 globe-trotter ruled out is four-year-old filly Porta Fortuna.
She had been as short as 6-1 for the Queen Anne on the first day, next Tuesday, but is out now following a 'small setback in training'

Major Shohei Ohtani pitching update leaves fans delighted as Dodgers manager drops bombshell
Dodgers fans were left delighted on Tuesday as manager Dave Roberts offered a huge update on Shohei Ohtani's pitching status. The two-way star still has not pitched for the Dodgers following his Tommy John surgery in September 2023. His recovery was later complicated when he tore his labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder during last year's World Series. However, Roberts told reporters on Tuesday that Ohtani has a 'north of zero' chance of joining the team's rotation ahead of the All-Star Break, which will begin for the Dodgers after their July 13 game against the Giants. And fans were thrilled with that news, which came as Ohtani took a major stride in his comeback and threw 44 pitches in three simulated innings before facing the Padres, according to ESPN. 'we've waited all year … best athlete in the world gonna be going his thang again soon,' one wrote on X. 'Let's goooo,' another said. Roberts said it was 'tempting' to bring Ohtani back sooner due to the team's pitching injuries And a third added: 'ITS TIME!!!!' in response to the update on Ohtani's health. Others cautioned the Dodgers not to rush Ohtani - who first faced hitters (in a simulated setting) on May 25 at Citi Field - back to the Dodgers' rotation. However, as ESPN pointed out in their report, the Dodgers currently have a whopping 14 pitchers on their injured list. 'It's tempting,' Roberts said of Ohtani returning sooner. 'I'm sure Shohei is tempted to just rip the Band-Aid off for a big league game. But I think we've done a good job of just being patient. And truth be told, I don't know if anyone knows the right time to get him in a big league game. But we're still being very careful.' Ohtani's ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) was repaired for a second time two years ago. The procedure was performed by renowned sports surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who Roberts said will determine the timeline of Ohtani's comeback in conjunction with the team's training staff. Ohtani is seen with his wife, Mamiko Tanaka. He surprised fans last year when he revealed he had gotten married. The Japanese player received surgery for his torn labrum on November 4 after injuring it in the Dodgers' World Series win over the Yankees. He first began throwing bullpen sessions at spring training in February before taking a break from pitching until late March. Regardless of when his return to the mound comes, he's proven to be well worth the $700million that the Dodgers signed him for in late 2023. Across 224 games for the team in the regular season, he's blasted an incredible 77 home runs and 169 RBIs, including 23 home runs so far this season.

WNBA star Cameron Brink issues furious response to fan who accused her of prioritizing 'red carpets' over ACL injury rehab
Cameron Brink offered an angry response to a fan who accused the WNBA player of prioritizing 'red carpets and schmoozing' over her injury rehab. Brink, the No. 2 pick in last year's WNBA Draft, has been sidelined since she tore her ACL in a game last June. And with the forward yet to play for her LA Sparks this season, one fan suggested on social media that her focus was in the wrong place. 'She should've been back on the court now, and something tells me that if she put as much work into rehab as she puts into walking down red carpets and schmoozing, she'd be back by now,' the fan wrote in the comment, which Brink shared to her Instagram story on Monday. The commenter also wrote that Brink made 'public appearances with no brace, crutches or anything' after her left ACL procedure last year. And while the former Stanford star claimed she 'usually' doesn't 'give energy to this type of stuff,' she wrote to her 1.4million followers that the commenter was 'not a real fan.' 'I'm working INCREDIBLY hard every day,' Brink wrote. 'I would give anything to be out on the court right now. Basketball is my passion and everything to me… to say this you aren't a real fan. 'Thank you to those who understand ACLs can take a year & giving me grace. I cannot wait until I get to play again.' Brink, who became a massive beneficiary of the new NIL rules while in college, has kept busy off the court while recovering from her injury. Last year, she posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's 2025 issue and also went to France for Paris Fashion Week. More recently, she graced the cover of PLAYERS magazine, as she donned a black suit and opened-up grey undershirt with a cigarette in her mouth. Skims also modeled for SKIMS last year alongside fellow WNBA players like Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kelsey Plum. Although Brink has missed her team's first 10 games of the season, she has traveled with the team and cheered them on in some eye-catching outfits. Her coach, Lynne Roberts, said after a practice earlier this month that Brink was doing on-court work, but added that there was no date set for her return. The Sparks lost in overtime on Monday to the Valkyries to fall to just 3-7 on the year. Their next game is at the Aces on Wednesday.

Mazda Drops Killer Mazda3 Sedan Lease Offer for June
Mazda's sedan offering just got better with the newest lease deal from the Japanese automaker. Another reason to get a sedan You've likely heard it plenty of times by now from us and other outlets that sedans aren't as popular as they once were. Given the advent and widespread adoption of crossovers and SUVs, smaller cars like the sedan have largely been forgotten about by manufacturers. That isn't to say that the segment is completely dead, with the Mazda3 sedan being one of the ones still standing. Yes, its hatchback sibling is the more popular choice, but the sedan still has its place with those looking for old-school, four-door space. If you're one of those people, Mazda's current lease offers on the Mazda3 sedan might be for you. 0:05 / 0:09 2025 Ford Maverick: 4 reasons to love it, 2 reasons to think twice Watch More The lease offers for the 2025 model year Mazda3 Sedan apply to various trims, depending on where you live. Los Angeles and Denver residents can get the higher 2.5 S Select Sport trim for $353/month for 48 months with $2,999 due at signing and a 10,000 miles/year limit. Miami residents can only get the base 2.5 S trim for $339/month for 36 months, with $2,499 due at signing and a 10,000 miles/year limit. New York residents get the same base trim but with a slightly altered deal of $279/month for 36 months, with $4,409 due at signing and a 10,000 miles/year limit. The two trim levels that Mazda's lease offers apply to, the 2.5 S and 2.5 S Select Sport, serve as the first two in the Mazda3 Sedan's range. Both use the same 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder with VVT and Cylinder Deactivation that makes 191 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission with FWD. That powertrain is rated at 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. The 2.5 S starts at $24,150 and gets more basic features like regular air conditioning, cloth-trimmed seats, and different wheels. The 2.5 S Select Sport brings a touch of luxury to the Japanese sedan, with leatherette-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, Alexa Built-in, and 18-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish. Being a sedan, versatility and everyday usefulness are still key. Helping that factor is 92.8 cu. in. of passenger space and 13.2 cu. in. of cargo space in the trunk.
