Katy Perry nearly plummets from floating butterfly as giant prop malfunctions during San Francisco show
The 'Part of Me' singer was in San Francisco on Friday night performing as part of her Lifetimes Tour, when a giant butterfly prop she was riding malfunctioned as it hung suspended over the crowd.
As seen in several video clips shared by audience members on social media, Perry was in the midst of performing her 2013 hit 'Roar' at the Chase Centre when the prop — on which Perry was rigged — jerked and dropped suddenly.
Perry immediately stopped singing and managed to regain her balance and composure, at first looking up at the contraption that connected the butterfly to cables above.
As the prop swung, Perry soon began performing the song again.
The near-mishap is at least the second such incident at a major tour this summer, after a flying car prop featured in Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour tilted midair during a concert in Houston last month.
The singer was quickly lowered down and without injury, according to Beyoncé's entertainment and management company at the time.

Teen ‘scalped' in horrifying carnival ride accident
An evening of fun at a carnival on England's south coast has quickly turned into horror after an 18-year-old girl's hair got caught in one of the rides. The teen was one of the many ride goers at the Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show near Southampton, in Hampshire on Saturday when she slipped and fell backwards while inside the 'Fun House' ride. One shocked onlooker, Emma Perry, told the Daily Echo that the girl's hair got caught in the rollers on the oscillating floor. 'Her friend came off the ride and said she was bleeding, so I offered my services as a first aider,' she said. 'When I got up there, I saw that three quarters of the girl's scalp had been ripped off in what we call a degloving incident.' Ms Perry said the girl was 'screaming' and 'very distressed' as fire crews had to cut a section of the ride away in order to safely place her on a stretcher before she was rushed to hospital for treatment. 'It was so traumatic.' A Hampshire Police spokesperson said they were called to the fair at 10.53pm on July 26 with reports that an 18-year-old woman had sustained 'potentially life-changing injuries' to her head while on a ride. Event organiser, Charles Cole, told the Daily Echo that the 'freak accident' was under investigation. 'Nobody wants to hurt anyone, and we are a family business. Last night was very upsetting, especially for the man who owns the ride. 'Safety is our priority, and we sympathise with the girl and her parents.' The Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show is yet to comment on the incident.

Crowds were jumpin' jumpin' in Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium after Beyonce surprised thousands of fans by briefly reuniting Destiny's Child. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined Beyoncé onstage Saturday night during the final show of the Cowboy Carter tour, their first performance together in seven years. The women walked out together, clad in gold, while singing Lose My Breath. The trio performed a brief medley that included smash single Bootylicious and one of Beyonce's own songs, Energy. Matthew Perry's ketamine doctor to plead guilty
The doctor charged with giving Matthew Perry ketamine in the weeks leading up to the Friends star's overdose death is expected to plead guilty. Salvador Plasencia would be the fourth-of-five people charged in connection with Perry's death to plead guilty. Plasencia was to have gone on trial in August until the doctor agreed last month to plead guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine, according to the signed document filed in federal court in Los Angeles. He had previously pleaded not guilty, but in exchange for the guilty pleas prosecutors have agreed to drop three additional counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of falsifying records. Plasencia's lawyer's emphasised in an email after he reached his agreement that he "was not treating Matthew Perry at the time of his death and the ketamine that caused Mr Perry's death was not provided by Dr Plasencia". The remaining charges can carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, and there is no guarantee he'll get less, but he's likely to. Plasencia has been free on bond since shortly after his arrest in August. He will not be sentenced until a future hearing. The only remaining defendant who has not reached an agreement with the US Attorney's Office is Jasveen Sangha, who prosecutors allege is a drug dealer known as the "Ketamine Queen" and sold Perry the lethal dose. Her trial is scheduled to begin next month. She has pleaded not guilty. According to prosecutors and co-defendants who reached their own deals, Plasencia illegally supplied Perry with a large amount of ketamine starting about a month before his death on October 28, 2023. According to a co-defendant, Plasencia in a text message called the actor a "moron" who could be exploited for money. Perry's personal assistant, his friend, and another doctor all agreed to plead guilty last year in exchange for their co-operation as the government sought to make their case against larger targets, Plasencia and Sangha. None have been sentenced yet. Perry was found dead by the assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. The medical examiner ruled that ketamine, typically used as a surgical anaesthetic, was the primary cause of death. The actor had been using the drug through his regular doctor in a legal but off-label treatment for depression, which has become increasingly common. Perry, 54, began seeking more ketamine than his doctor would give him. Plasencia admitted in his plea agreement that another patient connected him with Perry, and that starting about a month before Perry's death, he illegally supplied the actor with 20 vials of ketamine totalling 100mg of the drug, along with ketamine lozenges and syringes. He admitted to enlisting another doctor, Mark Chavez, to supply the drug for him, according to the court filings. "I wonder how much this moron will pay?" Plasencia texted Chavez, according to Chavez's plea agreement. After selling the drugs to Perry for $US4500 ($A6852), Plasencia allegedly asked Chavez if he could keep supplying them so they could become Perry's "go-to", prosecutors said. Perry struggled with addiction for years, dating back to his time on Friends, when he became one of the biggest stars of his generation as Chandler Bing. He starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 on NBC's mega hit.
