Ahmedabad Plane Crash: After Air India flight AI-171 crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after its takeoff, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, addressing the media, said that the last two days have been very difficult regarding the aftermath of the horrific crash.
In the tragic incident, many people lost their lives, and several were injured. The Civil Aviation Minister also emphasised that the black box has been recovered from the debris.

Before the Union Minister, Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, also reiterated the constitution of the high-level Multi-Disciplinary Committee by the government to examine the causes leading to the crash of the Air India Flight AI-171.
"The Committee will examine the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued to prevent and handle such occurrences and suggest comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the future," MoCA had informed in a post on X.
Crash Details
The Air India flight had departed from the airport at 1:38 pm and was travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. The aircraft crashed into the building of BJ Medical College, resulting in more injuries and deaths.
Air India later confirmed that out of 242 passengers on board, only one survived. The sole survivor of the crash jumped from the flight before its crash and saved his life miraculously.
Ex gratia by the Tata Group was announced for the families of the victims of the crash.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the site of the crash and met with the injured and the survivor in the Civil Hospital. He later held a meeting with the officials.
In the flight that crashed, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also on board. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi expressed grief over his death.

Karnataka leads country in adding wind power capacity
BENGALURU: Karnataka has topped the country in wind power capacity addition for 2024-25, adding 1,331.48 MW — the highest among all states. The achievement was recognised at the Global Wind Day 2025 celebrations, held under the theme 'Pawan-Urja: Powering the Future of India'. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat followed, with additions of 1,136.37 MW and 954.76 MW, respectively. Energy Minister KJ George, who received the award from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, mentioned that Karnataka's total installed wind power capacity has now reached 7,351 MW and that the state has a commitment to the national goal of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, including 100 GW from wind. Joshi said, 'As a proud Kannadiga, it's meaningful to celebrate Global Wind Day in Karnataka — the land of Hanuman, the original symbol of wind power. Just as he embodied the power of the wind, we are now capturing it through modern offshore turbines.' Highlighting India's growing capabilities, Joshi said, 'In 2014, our solar manufacturing capacity was just 2-3 GW. Today, we manufacture 90 GW worth of modules. The same is happening in wind – nacelles, gearboxes, turbines – all are now being made in India.' He added that domestic manufacturing of high-end electronics like mobile phones, including Apple devices, has risen significantly because of government policy. 'Today, 97% of Apple phones exported to the US in March and April came from India,' he noted. Industrial parks will be set up in AP: Piyush
Guntur: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said the Centre and State governments will jointly set up industrial parks in the state. Along with the Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, he conducted a review meeting on National Industrial Corridor Development at the Tobacco Board office here on Sunday. Later, addressing the media, he said industrial parks set up in the state will benefit 1.6 crore families and generate employment opportunities. He urged the farmers not to cultivate tobacco more than limit and added that during the last four years, tobacco farmers got better prices and their income doubled. He assured that he will take steps to solve the problems of the tobacco farmers and expressed satisfaction over the meeting held with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on industrial development and exports promotion. He said they had discussed tourism promotion. He discussed with the Tobacco Board officials on how to extend helping hand to the Burley tobacco farmers who suffered losses due to falling prices. He directed the board officials to take up skill development programmes with reputed institutes for the children of tobacco farmers and teach French, Japanese and German languages. Minister for R&B and Infrastructure BC Janardhan Reddy, Tobacco Board chairman Chirupothu Yashwant and others were present.
