Knoxville's Kenny Chesney to be inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Country Music Hall of Fame announced that Kenny Chesney from Knoxville will be part of their Class of 2025.
In addition to Chesney, Tony Brown and June Carter Cash are also being inducted into the Hall of Fame, the Country Music Association announced on Tuesday. All three will be formally inducted during a medallion ceremony later this year at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's CMA Theater in Nashville.

A Knoxville native, Chesney released his first record in 1994 and first had a song hit number one in 1997. Since then, he's released a triple Platinum album and won multiple Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year awards. He has performed, and sold out, NFL stadiums in multiple cities. He also sold out the Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee. He is famous for his 'voracious' fan base known as 'No Shoes Nation,' according to the Country Music Association.
Chesney spoke during the announcement in which he highlighted other Hall of Fame members from East Tennessee including Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins and Dean Dillon.
'It is a big thrill and a big honor for me to stand up here knowing that I am going into the Hall of Fame with three people from East Tennessee,' he said. 'That means the world to me.'
He explained that he wants to spread love and positive energy with his music.

'It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I was a kid in East Tennessee,' Chesney said. 'If you would have told that kid… that this was going to happen, I would have told you that you were crazy.'
Fellow inductee June Carter Cash also has a Knoxville connection, her family having been regulars on Knoxville's radio show 'Tennessee Barn Dance,' according to the Country Music Association.

Before jetting off from the grounds, Mickelson dug a pair of gloves out of his bag and offered them to the police officers who walked the course with him on Friday, June 13. Fans rushed to the comments section to show love for the polarizing golfing star. "There is no one like Phil. At 55, this might be his last US Open. I hope people can start to put aside the petty arguments and just appreciate a legendary career!" one person said. "One of the most appreciative players to ever tee it up. Edison graduates enjoy one more concert together
The graduates of Edison High School gathered in the corner of 'Cap' Sheue Field on Thursday afternoon to vibe to music. An Edison High musical group comprised of Saxon Baltzer, Ava Coggins, Kayla Do, Koa Hord, Sam Johnson and Nathan Lopez performed 'Revival,' by Zach Bryan. The song definitely encourages dancing, so the Chargers got one last dance in together before heading out into the world as the Class of 2025. Edison graduated 430 students during the ceremony. Edison ASB President Ben Berger shared remarks with the crowd. 'As difficult as the low points or the not-so-fun times of high school were, I can say I wouldn't trade them for the world,' Berger said. 'Seating charts that placed me farther from my friends brought me closer to new ones. My time spent riding the bench on [the] baseball [team] may not have been so fun, but I grew my friendships and character through those inactive innings.' Tobias Robertson and Kyle Huang were the other student speakers for Edison, while the Edison choir performed the national anthem. Edison Principal Danny Morris honored the magna cum laude and summa cum laude graduates, who were wearing gold gowns, as well as eight who will be enlisting in the military following graduation. 'Thank you to all in the stands for being here today, one last time before it's time to go,' Morris said. 'Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the pep talks and even the tough love. The annual PFT Live hiatus starts now
We do it every year, right around now. The two-hour weekday show devoted to all things NFL embarks on a hiatus. This year's break begins today. PFT Live returns on Monday, July 28. Obviously, nothing changes here. We'll have many daily updates, every single day. I'll also be doing #PFTPM episodes on most of the weekdays during the upcoming break. Only days after we return, we'll be in Canton for the Hall of Fame game. And then comes the preseason. And the regular season. And on and on it goes, through Super Bowl LX on NBC and Peacock. Since the last hiatus ended, we've had a cast of co-hosts including Chris Simms, Devin McCourty, Rodney Harrison, Michael Holley, Charean Williams, and Myles Simmons. With a dash of Peter King.
