It Features a Partner Dynamic That Really Works
As Ranger Vazquez, Lily Santiago does an admirable job of portraying the newer ranger's eagerness to learn from Turner despite his rough and brooding demeanor. She becomes a de facto partner to the ISB investigator, and watching their relationship unfold is one of the true pleasures of the show.
Alongside Vazquez, we learn about a tragic incident from Turner's past that shattered his marriage to Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt), which has a significant impact on their Jane Doe investigation. His nearly obsessive fixation on finding justice feels truly motivated, rather than him just playing into the 'brooding cop with a dark past' stereotype.
Though a 'grizzled older cop with an idealistic rookie' is also a familiar trope, Vazquez and Turner's dynamic doesn't feel rote. Instead, their relationship feels refreshing, especially since Vazquez is also hiding secrets of her own.
It's a Quick Binge with a Satisfying Ending
This may sound like a backhanded compliment, but it's true — at only 6 episodes, Untamed is a show you can get through in a weekend. Surprisingly, it moves at a fast clip without leaving too many loose ends.

'It's been a journey of working my way back to this feeling of confidence and this feeling of, I've got some shit to do,' she explained. 'I've been through trials and tribulations, but I think it's really an important part of the actor's journey to share that it's not always going to be the 'hurry up.' Sometimes it's going to be the 'wait.'' This isn't looking like a 'wait' season for Sunday, however. In February, Deadline announced that the actor would be joining the HBO limited series DTF St. Louis. And ahead of its Season 2 premiere, Netflix renewed Wednesday for a third season. Going forward, Sunday is prepared to show the industry more of what she's made of. She's eyeing more fantasy and supernatural roles and some action. (She's specifically manifesting Interview With the Vampire and Ghost Dog 2.) In this era, Sunday knows she's more than good. 'I feel empowered to say I am that much more extensive of an artist, and I'm not afraid to show that,' she said. 'In Season 1, I was kind of afraid of having to fit in the boxes. I wanted to make sure that everything would go well, but I'm not afraid any more. I'm excited.'

Lady Gaga leads 2025 MTV Video Music Awards with 12 nominations
NEW YORK — The nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Tuesday and Lady Gaga leads the pack with a dozen nods. The Oscar, Grammy and Emmy Award winner, who kicked off her highly anticipated Mayhem Ball Tour last month, already has 18 VMAs to her credit. This year, she competes in categories including artist of the year, video of the year and best album. This year marks the third time Gaga has led the nominations. Her 'Die with a Smile' collaborator Bruno Mars follows closely behind with 11 nominations. The duo's 2024 soft-rock ballad — which took home the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance earlier this year — also garnered nods for best collaboration and best pop song. 'Apt.,' Mars' collaboration with Blackpink singer Rosé, is also up for a slew of awards, including best direction and best visual effects. The breakout K-pop star netted a total of eight VMA nominations. Other top nominees include Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar (with 10), pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter (eight), 'Wicked' powerhouse Ariana Grande and pop crooner the Weeknd (both with seven). Alongside Gaga and Lamar, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Morgan Wallen and the Weeknd are competing for artist of the year. Online fan voting is now open in 19 categories. Votes are also available for video of the year, artist of the year and best new artist through the comment sections under pinned posts on the VMAs official Instagram account. For the first time ever, the VMAs will air on CBS. The show, set for Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m. ET, will simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. For the second consecutive year, the event will be broadcast live from UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
