SINGER Hazama has launched his latest single, Aku Bukan Narsisis (I'm not a narcissist), which centres on narcissistic personality traits, Kosmo! reported.
However, Hazama, whose full name is Hazama Ahmad Azmi, is uneasy with the term.
'I actually don't agree with the word narcissistic. To me, it's negative and I've never worked with, met or labelled anyone that way.
'Even if someone shows those traits, I just assume they're having a bad day. If we label them permanently, we don't give them a chance to change,' he said.
Hazama said the theme was requested by Sony Music and composer Farouk Roman, so he went along with it despite his discomfort.
Reflecting on his career since winning Akademi Fantasia (AF) Season 9, Hazama credited the three-month reality programme with teaching him the fundamentals of quality in performance and professionalism.
'I don't chase controversy. AF didn't teach us how to create drama; it taught us how to deliver good music,' he added, emphasising that lasting talent comes from substance, not sensationalism.
> The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) made the nation proud by winning 19 gold medals at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 (WPFG) in Birmingham, United States, Harian Metro reported.
The contingent also bagged 17 silver and 10 bronze medals, placing Malaysia ninth overall in the prestigious international tournament.
JBPM director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad praised the athletes' performance, citing their extraordinary discipline and fighting spirit.
'This achievement surpasses our target of 18 gold medals and breaks JBPM's previous record at the 2023 games in Winnipeg, Canada,' he said.
Three gold medals were from the bodybuilding event, while seven golds were from tenpin bowling, six from golf and three from darts.
Golf also contributed eight silver medals, followed by six from bowling, two from darts and one from the push pull and bench press event.
Ten bronze medals were earned through bowling (six), golf (three) and darts (one).
JBPM's bodybuilding team leader Snr Asst Supt Hasmadi Jusoh said the team had trained intensively for five months leading up to the games.
'We faced major challenges on the first day, especially competing against more experienced international athletes,' he said, crediting the team's success to their discipline and preparation for the tournament.
> Motorists travelling along Jalan Felda Aring to Tasik Kenyir, Hulu Terengganu, were startled when a full-grown Malayan tiger was seen crossing the road in broad daylight, Harian Metro reported.

Malaysian couple defy norms, celebrate love despite disability

KLANG: "I don't look at physical appearance; what matters is the heart, because I want to be married for a long time and go through good and tough times together." This was said by Salasiah Sazali, 33, regarding her decision to accept Muhammad Khairul Hibatullah Fitri Omar, 32, as her life partner, even though her husband is a person with disabilities (OKU) due to a facial disfigurement and blindness in his right eye. The couple's story garnered attention from netizens after Muhammad Khairul Hibatullah Fitri uploaded a video with photos of him and Salasiah before and after their marriage. Salasiah said she met her husband through a chat application on social media five years ago before they became close and decided to marry in 2021. "My husband initiated the conversation on that chat application. He said he wanted to be friends, and at first, I didn't even see his face because he used a picture of his hand. "Then we continued messaging on WhatsApp, and not long after, my husband shared his picture, and I was fine with it. "We never met, even though we both lived in Perak. When he said he wanted to be closer friends, I asked my husband to meet my mother. I didn't expect my husband to come with his mother to propose three months after we met," she said when met by Harian Metro at her residence in an apartment in Taman Sentosa Perdana, here. According to Salasiah, her family did not object and instead gave her the option to decide on her life partner. "The physical aspect was not an issue, but my mother advised me that even if my husband and I argued, I should never bring up his physical appearance. "My family truly accepts and loves my husband, but when we go out, people do stare at us. To me, what's so strange about it? It's just his face that looks like that; everything else is normal," she said. Salasiah said that every individual has strengths and weaknesses, and she accepts her husband as he is. She added that she is happy living her married life, especially after being blessed with a child, Muhammad Arif Luqman, who is now two years old. "I don't care what people say because, no matter what, he is my husband, and so far, he treats me well; he is not fierce with me at all. "I hope and pray that our relationship will last until the end of our lives," said Salasiah, who works as a production operator at an electronics factory. Meanwhile, Muhammad Khairul Hibatullah Fitri, who works as an administrative assistant, said he does not dwell on his physical shortcomings as he has been an OKU since birth. "I never really thought about finding a soulmate, because if it happens, Alhamdulillah, and if not, life still has to go on. "But I am grateful that my wife accepts me, and I feel my life is complete with a family and a job that provides a stable income," he said. Regarding his condition, Muhammad Khairul Hibatullah Fitri said he had undergone several surgeries, including one in Australia when he was four years old, to improve his facial structure. The former lecturer of computer networking at a private college also used to have examinations every six months at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) in Kuala Lumpur due to his condition but stopped in 2016, as he saw no need to continue. "Actually, it was worse before, and my face now is much better after several surgeries. "Because I've been like this since childhood, it doesn't affect my confidence, although I was teased in primary school. It didn't affect me much because my family and friends gave me a lot of encouragement. "My wife also accepts me because she said she doesn't look at my physical appearance but at my sense of responsibility. Recently, I shared our photos on TikTok, and I didn't expect such a high number of views. There was one comment saying we didn't look happy, but I just ignored it because more people were praying for us," said Muhammad Khairul Hibatullah Fitri, who also uses his skills to repair laptops for a fee.

#SHOWBIZ: Khai of AF1: Didn't even have RM10 to donate to the mosque

KUALA LUMPUR: Falling on hard times after their debut in the first season of Akademi Fantasia (AF1) in 2003 taught singers Khai and Rosma a valuable lesson: diversify their income beyond entertainment. Despite the initial buzz from the reality show, performance offers weren't always consistent, leading the couple to struggle financially in Kuala Lumpur. They often questioned their career choice as artistes. Khai, whose real name is Mohammad Khairul Nizam Mohammad Wahi, 46, acknowledged the unpredictable nature of an artiste's income. "As artistes, we don't have a steady income; there are times when there are lots of offers and there are times when there aren't any. "Sometimes it takes several months to get paid. We've been through that phase and there were times when we felt like looking for a permanent job," he told Berita Harian. Khai, known for his song 'Dambaan Pilu', even considered returning to banking, where he worked for six years before AF1. A particularly difficult period for Khai was in 2007 when a severe sore throat prevented him from singing, forcing him to decline all performance invitations. This led to a financial crisis, which he vividly remembers. "I still remember, at that time, I finished praying at a mosque in Putrajaya. But I couldn't even afford to give RM10 in charity at the mosque. "In fact, I saw foreign workers giving charity and putting money in the mosque's treasury. I thought, even I, who am an artiste, can't do that." Realising the need for a more stable income, Khai and Rosma decided to venture into business. "I think we need to start a business because in the art industry, we can't just survive," Khai explained. They began slowly, even selling "jelly" pillows that could be heated or cooled. Their efforts gradually paid off. Rosma, whose real name is Rosmayati Sidik, 40, emphasised their teamwork in overcoming challenges. "Khai and I always sit together and discuss to find a solution." She recalled that even before they were married in 2008, they supported each other. Rosma's own career saw a boost with a duet, 'Joget Cinta Sakti', with Haziq Rosebi, which led to a year of non-stop performance offers. She commended Khai's resilience: "Even in difficult times, we help each other. I still help Khai… I know he is someone who is always trying to change his life. Praise be to God. He doesn't just talk, but proves it with his own efforts." Today, Khai and Rosma, who have three children – Muhammad Amzar Danish, 19; Nur Amani Damia, 11; and Nur Alya Dhania, 6 – are the founders of health products, Magic Slims, and run Coffee Rich Cafe. Their journey underscores the importance of perseverance and diversification in life's unpredictable moments.

#SHOWBIZ: Awie to Amy Search: 'Take responsibility, tell the truth'

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian rock icon Datuk Awie has urged Datuk Amy of Search to step forward and provide a truthful explanation regarding an issue currently being hotly debated by netizens, which has also implicated him. In a post on his Facebook page, the 57-year-old vocalist of the band Wings, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, said that Amy's explanation was crucial to clear his name. He added that he was weary of continually explaining himself, especially as several netizens on social media had mentioned his name. "Amy Search, tell the truth. Stop all these foolish people from accusing me. Take responsibility for this; tell the truth. "I'm tired of having to read and answer for what you've done," he wrote. However, Awie did not elaborate on the specific issue his name was associated with. Earlier, the police confirmed receiving a report from singer Shila Amzah, who claimed she was publicly insulted by a legendary artiste during a concert rehearsal on Thursday. In a Harian Metro report today, Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad, confirmed that a report was made by Shila, whose real name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah, on July 10, at 5.31pm at the Dang Wangi Police Station. Awie, Amy and Shila had performed together at the MR. D.I.Y 20th Anniversary concert, held at Stadium Merdeka, here, last night. Awie's direct appeal to Amy now puts the onus on the 'Isabella' singer to shed light on the unfolding drama.
