Hong Kong should play all future matches at Kai Tak Stadium, goalscorer Pereira says
Hong Kong's match-winner Stefan Pereira said he hoped the city's football team could make Kai Tak Stadium their regular home after more than 42,000 fans roared them to victory there on Tuesday.
A 1-0 defeat of India on the team's debut appearance at the new venue rewarded a crowd that dwarfed the 6,092 who showed up for a scoreless friendly with Nepal at Hong Kong Stadium last week.
And Pereira, whose stoppage-time penalty earned Hong Kong three crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifying points, was keen to harness the fervour on show.
'I hope this can become our home ground – the atmosphere is amazing and everyone saw how we played,' Pereira said. 'We've never felt something like this.
'When we saw so many people screaming and supporting us, and shouting 'ga yau', it was an amazing feeling. We will win games here if we have these people supporting us.

2025 events at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park, from National Games to Football Festival
Hong Kong's Kai Tak Sports Park has been notching up firsts since its main stadium was officially opened in March, and the milestones are set to continue during 2025. More than 42,000 spectators shared the euphoria of watching the city's footballers beat India at Kai Tak Stadium on Tuesday, in the first outing at the venue by the Hong Kong representative team. The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens was staged at the stadium for the first time in late March, by which time the HK$30 billion (US$3.9 billion) park had already hosted international 15-a-side rugby at its 5,000-seat sports ground. National Games of China Hong Kong will co-host the 15th National Games with Guangdong and Macau from November 9 to 21, with three of its seven medal events – rugby sevens, fencing and men's handball – to be held at Kai Tak. The sevens will be held at the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium from November 12 to 14, after handball takes over Kai Tak Arena from November 1 to 10.

Contestants in Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon will get chance to run on Central Kowloon Bypass
Ten thousand local and overseas runners will get their chance to be among the first to run on the yet-to-open Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei section) when they compete in the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon in November, organisers said on Thursday. The 10th anniversary of the Streetathon, which features a marathon and a half-marathon, will be held on November 23, with participants starting at the Island Eastern Corridor near East Coast Park. Runners will run on the HK$42.36 billion Central Kowloon Bypass, heading into Kowloon Bay and Kai Tak, before finishing at the Yau Ma Tei Interchange. Expected to be completed by December, the 4.7-kilometre Central Kowloon Bypass would see drivers needing only about five minutes to travel between Kowloon Bay and Yau Ma Tei. Public registration for the race opened today and will continue until the 20,000 quota – across seven categories – are snapped up. Registration fees range from HK$150 to HK$620 (US$19 to US$79). Apart from the marathon and half marathon, the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon will also feature a 10-kilometre race, with runners going via the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Bridge and Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel.
