Update: Jared Curtis, a 5-star QB, picks Georgia football over Oregon
Jared Curtis is set to make his commitment between Georgia football and Oregon.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound five-star quarterback revealed his choice at 4:30 p.m. today in a live announcement at Nashville Christian.

Curtis announced at a school press conference that he has committed to Georgia.
Curtis, a former Georgia commitment, is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class and No. 2 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite.

He had also been considering Auburn, South Carolina, Alabama and Ohio State before trimming his list on February 25.

Curtis finished his junior season 179-of-255 passing for 2,830 yards passing, 40 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also led Nashville Christian (12-1) in rushing with 637 yards and 18 touchdowns on 88 carries.
Curtis led Nashville Christian to the TSSAA football Division II-A state title in December and raked in multiple accolades. He was voted as Tennessee Titans DII-A Mr. Football and also claimed the Gatorade Tennessee football player of the year award.

Curtis committed to Georgia in March 2024, maintained he was firm with the Bulldogs in August as schools kept calling, then reopened his recruitment months later in October.

There have been countless NFL teams in recent years who have cracked the method to drafting: selecting players from powerhouses works more often than not. The Oregon Ducks have become one of these teams that pro organizations poach from, having 10 players drafted just this year. Now considered among college football's elitists, Oregon constantly replenishes their talent stockpile, so they'll have a number of stars taken in the 2026 draft as well. ESPN's Field Yates recently concocted a preseason mock draft for next year, where he has the Ducks having two players selected in the first round. Yates predicts that the Green Bay Packers will select Matayo Uiagalelei with the No. 19 pick. The five-star edge rusher made a drastic improvement last year compared to his rookie season thanks to more involvement and some impressive development. 'Uiagalelei is hard to miss on tape, thanks to a massive 6-foot-5, 272-pound frame. He aligns from a variety of spots along the defensive front and causes havoc from all of them, with 10.5 sacks in 2024. He wins with power and relentlessness, said Yates.' One of the most dominant defenders in the nation, Uiagalelei has all the tools to post another dominant season. If he continues developing at the rate he's going, he could fly even further up draft boards. The other Duck projected to go in the first round next year is their new offensive tackle, Isaiah World. Yates has the Nevada transfer falling to the Kansas City Chiefs with the 30th overall pick. The reigning AFC Champions have made a concerted effort over the last few years to keep Patrick Mahomes upright and the massive Oregon tackle would do just that. 'He brings premier length at 6-foot-8 and moves very well -- especially as a pass protector. Oregon Ducks have three of top 100-ranked players in college football for 2025 season
In the same week that a trio of Oregon Ducks were named 2025 AP Preseason All-Americans, those same three players have been named to ESPN's top 100 players in college football prior to the 2025 season. Safety Dillon Thieneman was the first Duck to appear on the list at No. 44. The former Purdue Boilermaker was one of the team's lone standouts, finishing with a team-leading 104 total tackles (70 solo) and six passes defensed. Next was running back Makai Hughes, who also transferred to join Oregon's program this offseason. Coming in at No. 30 on the list, Hughes established himself as one of the top running backs in the country during his two seasons at Tulane — regardless of conference. "Hughes rushed for 2,779 yards combined the past two seasons, more than any other returning back in college football," ESPN's Jake Trotter wrote. "Hughes should bring a level of physicality to the Oregon offense; he broke 38 tackles last season, tied with North Carolina's Omarion Hampton for fifth most in the nation." Tops on the list for the Ducks is defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei, who's ranked as the 20th best player in college football. It should come as no surprise, as he was an All-Big Ten selection as a sophomore and notched 10.5 sacks in the regular season. That led the conference. "The Ducks lost several key players off last season's defense, including tackle Derrick Harmon, a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers," Trotter wrote. "But Uiagalelei is a big reason the Ducks could be just as disruptive up front after ranking third in the Big Ten with 40 sacks in 2024." With less than two weeks to go before Oregon kicks off their season against Montana State, the preseason accolades continue to roll in for the Ducks' trio of stars. What will No. 7 Oregon do to build on its stellar Big Ten debut? ‘Double down'
Oregon made a splash during its first year in the Big Ten, going undefeated in the regular season and winning the conference title with a victory over Penn State in the championship game. So what do the Ducks do for an encore in season No. 2? Well, that's coach Dan Lanning's theme for the season: double down. Lanning is in his fourth year at Oregon and, while a national championship has eluded the Ducks, they went 13-0 overall and 9-0 in the Big Ten last season. The No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, they fell to eventual champion Ohio State in the quarterfinals. 'We have done an unbelievable job of building this team over time. You look at our success season to season, and as this team has grown, the process works. We're close. We've been able to accomplish a lot,' Lanning said. There are some big changes this season. Ten Oregon players from last season went to the NFL. Among them was senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is now with the Cleveland Browns. His likely replacement is Dante Moore, a sophomore who played for UCLA as a freshman before serving as Gabriel's backup last season and eventually taking a redshirt. The former five-star recruit appeared in five games last season, completing 7-of-8 passes for 49 yards. But while the faces have changed, the goal remains the same, and for Lanning that's just continuing the process. 'What's the best version of us? If we're playing our best football, if we're being the best that we can possibly be, then that's something I'm excited about. The results kind of take care of themselves,' Lanning said. 'What's our goal? I mean, we have high standards. We came here to win championships. Obviously, we got an opportunity to taste that last year with the Big Ten championship. We want to win them all, not just some of them.' Oregon opens the season ranked No. 7 in the AP Top 25. Questions at receiver Senior receiver Evan Stewart was expected to be a prime target for Moore this season but he injured his knee in the offseason and is recovering from surgery to repair a torn right patellar tendon. He was Oregon's top returning receiver with 48 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns last season. It is unclear whether he'll play this season, although it seems unlikely. Oregon's receiver corps was further depleted when Jurrion Dickey was suspended indefinitely during preseason camp. Dickey, a former five-star recruit, played in 15 games in two years with the Ducks, but had just two catches for 14 yards. Lanning did not specify the reasons for Dickey's suspension. Departures Besides Gabriel, some of the other players who have moved on to the NFL include receiver Tez Johnson, who went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tight end Terrance Ferguson, now with the Los Angeles Rams, defensive lineman Derrick Harmon, drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and offensive lineman Josh Conerly Jr., who wound up with the Washington Commanders. Other departures included edge Emar'rion Winston and safety Tyler Turner, who transferred to Baylor, cornerback Rodrick Pleasant transferred to UCLA and defensive lineman MyKeil Gardner transferred to Arizona State. Key additions One big — as in 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds — addition to the Ducks is offensive tackle Isaiah World from Nevada. He's considered a potential first-round NFL draft pick. Also joining Oregon is safety Dillon Thieneman from Purdue. Then there's junior running back Makhi Hughes, a transfer from Tulane who rushed for 2,401 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. The schedule Oregon opens the season at home on Aug. 30 against Montana State. The Ducks will host former Pac-12 rival Oregon State on Sept. 20. The next week, Oregon visits No. 2 Penn State in probably the marquee conference game of the season, given that a meeting with Ohio State isn't on the schedule. The Ducks host No. 20 Indiana on Oct. 11. They wrap up the season on Nov. 29 on the road against Washington
