Sam Thompson's love life after Zara split and his response to girlfriend rumours
Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott split after five years together, with Zara now dating One Direction's Louis Tomlinson - who will be playing in Soccer Aid alongside Sam
Sam Thompson has been participating in a strenuous challenge ahead of this year's Soccer Aid for UNICEF. The Made in Chelsea star and I'm A Celebrity winner has been competing in Match Ball Mission throughout this week, with his progress being broadcast on ITV's This Morning.
He's been transporting the Soccer Aid match ball over 260 miles from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford in preparation for this year's game. Every mile, whether on foot or by bike, Sam is aiming to raise as much money as possible to support UNICEF's work for children worldwide - and he's set to cross the finish line on Friday, June 6, which will also be televised on This Morning.
Before he completes his colossal task, we delve into the 32-year-old's love life following his recent break up with Zara McDermott. Reality star turned documentary maker Zara is now dating One Direction's Louis Tomlinson - who coincidentally will be participating in the Soccer Aid match alongside Sam on Sunday, June 15 at Old Trafford.
Sam and Zara's romance
Sam and Zara started dating in early 2019, shortly after she had finished her stint on Love Island where she was involved with self-proclaimed ladies' man, Adam Collard, reports Wales Online.
At that time, Londoner Sam was in a relationship with fellow Made In Chelsea cast member Sophie Habboo (now married to fellow MIC and Strictly star Jamie Laing and expecting her first child) but it wasn't long before Zara and Sam became official and Zara soon joined the cast of the E4 reality show.
In a dramatic twist to their love story, Zara and Sam weathered a storm back in late 2019 amid allegations that Zara had strayed with music mogul Brahim Fouradi during her stint on X Factor: Celebrity, as reported by Hello! magazine.
Initially dismissing the rumours, Zara ultimately poured out her heart on social media with an emotional confession in October 2020. That same month, viewers of Made in Chelsea watched as Zara implored Sam for forgiveness - footage that has since morphed into meme-worthy material.
Happily, the couple later laughed off the incident. Choosing to put the past behind them, Sam reconciled with Zara, and the pair settled down together in their Chelsea pad, right next to Sam's sister Louise, sharing TikToks enjoyed by their fans.
Why did Sam and Zara split?
Five years on, whispers of a breakup began swirling at the start of 2025 after the duo spent Christmas Day and New Year's Eve separately. While Sam dedicated his Christmas to volunteering for a charitable cause, Zara joined her kin in Upminster, East London.
Sam was seen revelling with mates at Kensington Roof Gardens to ring in the New Year, leaving Zara to embrace a quieter celebration. The crux of their separation seemed rooted in their hectic, clashing timetables.
The last sighting of this reality TV pair together was in December 2024, celebrating Zara's birthday. It was then that Sam took to Instagram with loving words for his girlfriend, dubbing her his "soulmate".
Who is Sam dating now?
Sam, who recently opened up about his autism diagnosis, has reportedly been in a relationship with Love Island's Samie Elishi since April. However, when questioned about her support during his Soccer Aid challenge, he told MailOnline: 'I feel like... this is so much more than who I'm dating or hooking up with. And I feel like it would take away from what it is going on. You know what I mean?
'You know, If I had a wife or something like, like a girlfriend of years it might be a different. I just think that I don't want to do anything that will take away from this challenge and UNICEF - the spotlight needs to be on them.
'Like, I'm literally a vehicle. That's how I'm seeing it. I'm just a thing that is running to try and make money, so I want to keep it that way. ".
Zara has been dating One Direction's Louis Tomlinson following her break up with Sam, and Louis is set to return to the Soccer Aid line-up.
This Morning is on ITV1 weekdays at 10am and ITVX. Soccer Aid is on ITVX on Sunday, June 15

Made In Chelsea icon slams men as she freezes eggs and vows to find sperm donor
Single Made In Chelsea star Sophie Hermann doesn't hold back as she reveals why she 'hates' dating apps - and has given herself a deadline before going it alone when it comes to motherhood Viewers of Made In Chelsea have watched Sophie Hermann 's ups and downs on her quest to find love since she joined the show a decade ago, which follows the lives of bright young things set in one of the most exclusive areas of London. Now 38 and single, the reality star, fashion designer and influencer, who lives in a beautiful Georgian home in London, exclusively tells OK! that she's putting herself out there on the dating apps. However, she is less than impressed with what she's found so far - and she's not alone in her opinion. 'It's really hard, you know, and I feel my girlfriends are successful, beautiful and strong women, but they are all single,' she says. 'Everyone is single! Men are not the same any more. It's not us – it's them. They are the problem. I also think London is not good for dating. It can be quite cut-throat'. She adds, 'I actually hate the dating apps, because it feels like a job interview when you're talking to a guy. I mean, honestly, I just can't believe how some of those people are on there, so I am just not going to date right now using any app. It's just not for me, unless I see someone truly amazing!' Sophie, who is originally from Munich in Germany, joined the posh E4 reality show in 2013, but took a three-year break, before stepping back on set for more high drama last year. Over those 12 years, she has seen a number of friends and castmates (and some enemies, most notably Maeva D'Ascanio) find love, get married and go on to have children. Sophie has been flexing her maternal muscles ever since two of her closest Made In Chelsea pals, Ollie and Gareth Locke, made her godmother to their twins, Ollie and Cosima, who were born prematurely via a surrogate in 2023. And with her milestone 40th birthday just two years away, Sophie tells us she has taken measures to give herself an 'insurance' policy, should someone fail to sweep her off her feet any time soon. She recently made the decision to freeze her eggs, and – delighted she took the plunge – has a clear message for other women in a similar situation. 'Please do it. It's not 100 per cent insurance but it is better than nothing. I am much more at ease. I don't stress myself so much with deadlines and dating. I recently turned 38, and I'm just two years away from the big 40 and I can't f*****g believe it. It gives me anxiety', she says. 'I did mine with Amilis Fertility Clinic in London. It's a women's fertility founded platform, where they vetted over 20 clinics in London. They are amazing! I had to give myself injections every day during the process and, although that didn't get any easier, I'm still glad I did it.' Sophie reveals that she managed to retrieve seven eggs from each ovary, but that the procedure was made more complicated than normal, due to doctors needing to remove a cyst. She adds, 'They say you need twenty eggs, but you don't. My friend also has seven, and I feel like I can clone them one day and have them forever.' Made In Chelsea initially aired in 2011, with a plenty of marriages and babies since that first season gripped viewers. Some of the most recent new arrivals include Tiffany Watson delivering her second son with husband Cameron McGeehan, and just last week, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo revealed they were expecting their first baby together, four years after tying the knot. Sophie, she says, looks beyond the exclusive SW3 postcode for inspirational stories about motherhood, with US socialite Paris Hilton being one of her favourites. 'She has been my role model since forever,' she admits. 'She has frozen her eggs a thousand times, and now she has a beautiful son and daughter.' While Sophie's frozen eggs give her some comfort, there is also the question of how to fertilise them, but she has a plan - sperm donors. 'I was actually looking into this with my friend the other week because she is considering doing this. Yet I discovered in the UK, that you can't find out what they [donors] look like. You can only see baby pictures, so I would probably go to America to do it. 'But I'm not there yet, or at the point where I would consider that. I feel like that's why I froze my eggs, so that I don't have to think about those questions right now. I wouldn't consider questions like that until I was 46 years plus – definitely not yet.' Meanwhile, although she may have sworn off the apps for now, the German beauty is clearly hopeful that love could be round the corner. As she confessed in January this year, 'I'm a hopeless romantic and I believe the more positive you stay, the more positive things happen to you'

Luxury eco-friendly paint range pro decorators say is 'excellent'
This new range could be perfect for shoppers looking to spruce up their homes for summer When it comes to giving the home a new lease of life, a lick of paint can work wonders. Whether it's painting the kitchen cupboards, adding a splash of colour to skirting boards, or creating a feature wall in the living room, the right paint can really bring a space to life. Finding the right paint shades for the space can be a hassle - there are so many options out there, and it can feel daunting to commit based on a single swatch. However, a new line of paints from luxury eco-friendly brand COAT Paints, in collaboration with TV personality and wellness advocate Millie Mackintosh, could be the ticket. The range includes a selection of shades for all corners of the home, from bedrooms to bathrooms, kitchens to hallways. Speaking of the range she's worked on, the former Made in Chelsea star, 35, says: "Creating a mindful home environment has been essential to me, especially as I've navigated motherhood and my personal wellness journey. "Every colour in this collection is a reflection of that - whether it's the calming tones of 'Balance' or the warm embrace of 'Gratitude.' I wanted this palette to encourage people to slow down, reflect, and create spaces that feel comforting and rejuvenating." The COAT x Millie Mackintosh range includes six colours. There's Presence, a Blush Plaster Pink; Poise, a Pale Blush Pink; Centred, an Earthy Pale Beige; Renew, a Teal Blue; Manifest, a Soft Fresh Green; and Nourish, a soothing, muted sage green. All of the shades come in six finishes, too - Flat Matt, Soft Sheen, Interior Eggshell, Exterior Eggshell, Claypaint, and Floor Paint - so there's a formula for every surface. Depending on how much paint is needed, the collection is available at a range of price points: from £30 for 1L, £56 for 2.5L, or £96 for 5L. Plus, it's easy to try before you buy, with peel-and-stick samples available in each shade which are fully recyclable and 100% accurate to the real paint colour. If this range doesn't quite resonate with shoppers, they could try Farrow & Ball's new spring range, which includes shades like deep red, mustard yellow, olive green and duck-egg blue, with prices hovering around £33 for 750ml to £128 for 5L. Alternatively, House of Hackney has a wide range of made-to-order, water based, low VOC, low odour paints throughout the colour spectrum, with prices around £59 for 2.5L or £100 for 5L. The paints from COAT - a B Corp Certified company - which are water-based, low V.O.C, premium paints formulated to be amongst the highest-quality on the market, have proven to be a favourite among shoppers. The range currently has perfect reviews. One shopper said: "Just had our hallway and landing painted in Coat paint whilst away and all I can say is wow! Decorator not used Coat before but commented on excellent application. We have used Coat before ourselves and found it to be extremely easy to use and also the colours are amazing. Customer service is also second to none. We needed paint quickly and they upgraded to next day delivery." Another said: "Beautiful soft hues, with colours you can't find anywhere else. I really enjoyed transforming my rooms with this paint, it has great coverage and is a real joy to use." Someone who tried the Poise shade said: "I love this colour! I really wanted a pink bedroom but not too little girly feel. Poise was the perfect shade for that, it's so soft and subtle but at the same, so girly and a great pink. Did 2 layers and it's so lush!" A shopper who used the Renew shade noted: "The colour is a little different from what it looks like on the website - in my living room anyway - a bit more blue and less teal. It matches the sample sticker perfectly though, so I got what I was expecting." One person did have an issue with delivery: "Lovely paint colours, like the eco credentials. Good coverage and nice finish. Some issues with couriers lately, but customer service always very helpful and solve problems quickly." Another said they had concerns which turned out to be unfounded: "I was unsure how pink this would be, but it's just perfect," they said of Poise.
