Speaking about his ordeal, he told The Sydney Morning Herald how it happened after he attended a meeting to become a real estate agent.
However after the event he was given a drink but began feeling dizzy.
He added to the newspaper: 'This other bloke [then] came out of nowhere. I was paralysed, I was a strong young kid, I was a good sportsman, but I was paralysed.'
He was then raped by the two men and blacked out.
Mat revealed he regained consciousness the next day in the same room, but he was alone.
'I was in a fair bit of pain, and I was late for work,' he said.
Struggling with what happened, Mat revealed he confided in his dad, adding: 'I told my dad, I said, 'I think I've just been raped', and he ignored it.'
And the day after his ordeal, he received a phone call offering him a role in Neighbours.
He later went on to become a household name in rival soap Home and Away before quitting after five years playing character Adam.
Years later Mat revealed that he'd quit the soap for love after deciding to turn his back on fame in order to marry and have a family.
He said in 2019 to the Daily Telegraph: 'After I left Home and Away, I travelled for three years and when I came back I was 27.
'I met a woman that I loved and we wanted a family,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
'And with that comes responsibility so I sought out some secure work and that's the government role I have been working in ever since.'
The actor now works for the Australian government as a investigator.
He shares two daughters, 24 and 21, with his wife.

Ashley Roberts, 43, flaunts her jaw-dropping figure in an array of skimpy bikinis as she continues to soak up the sun in Turkey

looked nothing short of sensational on Thursday as she flaunted her jaw-dropping figure in an array of skimpy bikinis during her holiday in Turkey. The Pussycat Dolls star, 43, displayed her toned physique in a carousel of stunning pictures that she shared to her Instagram. She looked incredible as she donned a baby pink bikini top, which featured matching briefs, as she soaked up the sun. Ashley teamed the swimwear item with a baby pink headscarf before further accessorising with some stylish sunglasses. In another shot, the beauty wore a stylish white bikini which consisted of a strapless bikini top with a knot in the centre, matching thong bikini bottoms and a very revealing white sarong skirt. The radio presenter completed the look with a trendy pearl necklace, a gold charm necklace and a silver cuff bracelet - which featured a turtle. In a few other images, Ashley showed how she keeps her slender physique so toned as she shared a number of poses of herself taking part in some yoga. As she sat on a mat with a gratitude journal in front of her, the blonde bombshell looked happy and relaxed as she beamed at the camera, cross legged in a pair of navy gym shorts and matching bra. Another picture showed her practicing Urdhva Hastasana - a raised hands pose - as she stared out at the tranquil sea, with the sun setting in the distance. Ashley wowed in a mint green gym set, as she showed off her pert behind and slender legs. She also spent some time on a paddle board during her sun-soaked getaway, making sure to balance as she took to the sea. Never one to shy away from a great outfit, Ashley also shared with her followers what she had been wearing as she relaxed of an evening. As she sat by the sea enjoying a dinner and a glass of bubbles, she posed in a tanned coloured maxi skirt and crop top which featured black around the edge, making the two-piece really pop. She paired the risqué number with some stylish black sandals and left her sea salty hair in natural waves. In a few other images, Ashley showed how she keeps her slender physique so toned as she shared a number of poses of herself taking part in some yoga and paddle boarding As she sat on a mat with a gratitude journal in front of her, the blonde bombshell looked happy and relaxed as she beamed at the camera, cross legged in a pair of navy gym shorts and matching bra For the final images, she put on a dazzling display in a canary yellow maxi dress with a silver buckle on the side. Featuring a thigh-high split and a plunging neckline, she posed confidently in the slinky gown and accessorised with aa bracelet and reflective sunglasses. She was in good spirits as she posed playfully for the camera, slipping a peace sign and waving her hands in the air. Alongside the images, Ashley posted: 'Lil slice of paradise' followed by a seashell emoji. It comes after Ashley opened up to the Daily Mail's The Life of Bryony Podcast about other aspects of the devastating toll her time in the music industry had on her . She told The Daily Mail columnist Bryony Gordon how being forced to give up dancing - and discovering breathwork - pulled her back from the brink of a mental breakdown. The performer was only 22 years old when she joined The Pussycat Dolls in 2003, eventually moving to London from Los Angeles after their split in 2010. Ashley's new book transforms the hard-won lessons from her difficult past into practical techniques for improving mental and physical health. 'My body was literally shutting down', Ashley told the podcast. 'The Dolls were in London doing a show. I was sat in my hotel room and all of a sudden, I had this extreme headache. 'The pain was unreal. I also felt really sick. We were supposed to do a show in Germany the next day, so I called my manager - who told me to go to the hospital. 'The doctors thought I'd had a brain aneurysm. When I went to have an MRI, my knee locked up and that was viral arthritis entering my body. 'My mentality at the time was all about making it to the next show – but that was the moment I remember thinking, "What's going on here? I need to take a second because this isn't cool".' Ashley revealed how the cutthroat music industry had instilled a toxic work ethic that was destroying her health. 'The early 2000s was a whole different era honey', the performer told Bryony. No one ever spoke about mental health or the importance of checking in. 'I am grateful there has been a shift – people cancelling shows now when they need to look after themselves. 'I felt I was weak. It was instilled in us from a young age that we were interchangeable. 'There was a pressure of like, if you don't show up, who knows what might happen? 'I grew up in the dance world and there is still an attitude of – if you break your toe, you need to keep going. Your mind is programmed to think: the show must go on. Podcast All episodes Play on Apple Spotify 'In the end, I had to take some time off. It was a viral infection with extreme side effects – what was probably a manifestation of being so rundown.' Following The Pussycat Dolls' split in 2010, Ashley began building her career in the UK, finishing as runner-up on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2012. After making the move to London permanent, the Heart Radio presenter told Bryony how feeling 'spiritually lost' in her new home led her to discover breath work - her second great love after music. 'After the Dolls, I stopped dancing completely', Ashley said. 'Being in a pop group for so long, I just shut all that down and wanted to go in a different direction.' It was then she found breath work: 'It created this sense of calm that I can't explain. 'I always felt this chaos internally and suddenly, for a few moments, it felt like I wasn't battling it anymore. 'I didn't quite realise how then how great a tool it would be in helping me process life. 'When my dad died, that ability to reflect gave me the motivation to stay strong – and I want to share that.'

Katie Price breaks silence as she issues comeback to ex Peter Andre

Katie Price has issued her own statement following her ex-husband Peter Andre's bombshell claims. The former glamour model, 47, shares her two children, Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with Peter. They split in 2009 and all contact between them ended as they navigated co-parenting. This week, things heated up between the exes following a series of claims as Princess launched her own ITV2 series. Peter claimed there have been "repeated lies" from Katie and her family and he said he chose to say silent for 16 years. Now, Katie has issued her own response as she took to Instagram where she said: "Saints and Sinners. As we know, in this life we are thought of as Saints and Sinners. "I know I will always be seen as a Sinner. That's fair, I allowed myself to fall into a reliance on drugs and alcohol. At times I was not the mother I should have been while I struggled with mental illness. "I have been at times a poor friend, an awful sibling, and an untrustworthy partner. I've self-medicated, been unfaithful, damaged myself and those that I love." Katie added: "I've had my reasons - I was sexually abused when younger; had relationships that have been coercive; and my mental health issues - but I don't want to make excuses. I've recognised my issues and worked to put them behind me. "Sometimes | tried and failed, sometimes I succeeded. I've pulled myself out of a suicidal spiral because I love my children and want to be there for them. I don't pretend to be perfect by any means - but I'm trying to be the best I can." She continued: "Then there are the "Saints". Some are genuine and some have helped me. But some Saints are not who they would have you believe they are. They have a carefully managed image which must be exhausting to maintain. "Some Saints are fake. They play the victim and to succeed in life they need a at least a Sinner. Without the Sinner they don't get to be the Saint... "As a Sinner - I sometimes get bored of these Saints. But maybe I should feel sorry for them, It must be such hard work having to pretend all the time. Anyway, all you Sinners keep your heads up and keep trying to be better. All you Saints, it's ok not to be perfect." Yesterday, Peter issued his own statement as he raged: "For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. "In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement." He went on: "I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children. In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases found my ex-wife had made false claims. "She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today. "Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months." Inside showbiz's most toxic marriage as Peter Andre's takedown blows 16 years of Katie Price's secrets wide open

The Price-Andre dynasty rose and fell in front of the cameras... with the peace coming to an end when Katie accused Princess's team of shutting her out of her daughter's life GONE INSANIA Inside showbiz's most toxic marriage as Peter Andre's takedown blows 16 years of Katie Price's secrets wide open Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) KATIE PRICE and Peter Andre have long held the cursed title of showbiz's most toxic marriage – but until now, the venom was only directed one way. That all changed yesterday when the Insania hitmaker broke his 16-year silence and blew Katie's secrets wide open — with their teen daughter Princess at the heart of their feud. 6 6 Peter Andre broke his 16-year silence and blew ex Katie Price's secrets wide open Credit: Ian Whittaker 6 Katie and Peter's teen daughter Princess was at the heart of their feud Credit: BackGrid In a fascinating Instagram post, the mild-mannered popstar, 52, spat: 'For sixteen years I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silence (sic) has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.' Katie, it would seem, has finally pushed Pete's boundaries one too many times. The cold war between the two has remained in place since their divorce in 2009, with relations remaining frostily cordial bar the former glamour model's occasional jibe. But the peace came to an end earlier this month when we revealed Katie, 47, had accused Princess's team of shutting her out of her daughter's life ahead of the 18-year-old launching her debut reality series. Confirming The Sun's expose, Katie ranted on a podcast: 'I'm not allowed and I'm not welcome. They think I am trash, basically.' This week she added: 'Although I'm not in the show she speaks about me all the time which is really sweet, but why wouldn't she — because she lives with me. 'The kids have never lived just with Pete. We've shared the kids.' That was too much for Mysterious Girl chart star Peter, who also shares son Junior, 20, with Katie. Posting his blistering riposte on Thursday night, he explained: 'The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. 'For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. Princess Andre breaks silence on Peter and Katie's bitter feud after his blistering statement 'In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before out of respect for my children.' The secret was long-known among Fleet Street journalists — and now the cat is out of the bag. Many feel that Pete would have held his tongue for years, given the traumatic circumstances behind the court order. While filming a reality series in South Africa in 2018, six men held Katie, Princess and Junior at gunpoint during a carjacking before raping the mum-of-five. The former I'm A Celebrity star has since told how she attempted suicide in the wake of her horrific ordeal — leading to the courts placing Junior and Princess, then 13 and 10, into Peter's care for their own wellbeing. Pete added in his bombshell social media post: 'In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases found my ex-wife had made false claims. 'She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. 'The same falsehoods are being repeated today.' He concluded: 'Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months.' Pete has spent a decade letting his lawyers do the talking, slapping Katie with countless complaints after defaming him in the press. She was forced to issue a public apology in 2011 after accusing Peter of cheating on her with their former manager, Claire Powell, who had since decamped to Team Pete. Two years later, Katie slammed her ex-husband again, tweeting that he was a 'fake family man' who didn't let her see their kids over Christmas and no longer kept in touch with her eldest son, Harvey. 6 Peter with kids Junior and Princess Credit: Getty 6 Katie and Peter were forged in the fire of reality TV, first falling in love on camera in the I'm A Celebrity jungle in 2004 Credit: Rex 6 Katie shared a cryptic post, cuddling her Sphynx cat with the caption: 'They don't judge' Credit: Snapchat/Backgrid But Peter still refused to comment, even though he has regularly been in the public eye. His wedding to second wife Emily was covered in OK! Magazine in 2015, and he has since fronted his own reality TV shows alongside her (although they keep their three children, Amelia, 11, Theo, eight, and Arabella, one, out of the public eye). So why has Pete piped up after all the years of drama? A source told The Sun: 'He had to speak out now because things had just become unbearable. 'The fact is, Katie said on her podcast that Princess lived with her and that's just not the case. 'It's been a really difficult and upsetting time for the family. Pete feels she is goading him by constantly speaking about him and none of it is true. He feels like she is goading him. Pete would like nothing more than for Katie to never ever speak about him in public again but she won't stop Sun source 'Pete would like nothing more than for Katie to never ever speak about him in public ever again but she won't stop. 'He's kept a dignified silence for so long, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns legal as she's gone too far now. He just wants a harmonious life for his family.' A rep for Peter told us: 'Peter has issued his statement as he is not prepared for this to go on any longer and it's affecting his family.' Katie has surprised everyone with her response. Where some might've expected another volley of bombs in this war of words, instead she left it to her manager - sister, Sophie. In a statement she said: 'Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation. Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation Sophie Price 'This was in the past and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands. 'Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was…' It adds to her previous plea for peace on the podcast where she made the claim about Princess' living arrangements. She said: 'There's no reason why both parents just can't be there to support her. 'For the sake of the children, there's room for everyone to support your kids. 'Do you know what I mean? I'm not saying I have to stand with them and play happy families.' When I interviewed Katie Price last month to discuss her upcoming Evening With tour alongside best friend Kerry Katona, she told me she was in the healthiest and happiest place she's been for years. Certainly, this uncharacteristically balanced response seems like that from a whole new Katie. But is that really the true picture? On her own Instagram she shared a cryptic post, cuddling her Sphynx cat with the caption: 'They don't judge'. Peter's controversial manager Claire Powell, who now looks after Princess and once clashed with Katie, was up to it on her social media, too. With Pete clearly in mind, she wrote: 'The most dangerous anger comes from someone with a good heart. All what I want to do, is just whatever my daughter does, and it's the same with Junior, I don't care if I'm in the background Katie Price 'They hold it in, stay calm, until one day, they can't anymore. 'Don't push a good person too far.' Katie and Peter were forged in the fire of reality TV, first falling in love on camera in the I'm A Celebrity jungle in 2004. They went to make history with an endless string of fly-on-the-wall shows, kicking off with When Jordan Met Peter, in 2004 and including Jordan & Peter: Marriage and Mayhem, then the nine-series run of Katie & Peter. Until their acrimonious split in 2009, their entire marriage played out in the public eye. So it was written in stone their kids would also live and breathe the reality bubble. Princess has taken up the baton at 18 with her very own ITV2 series, The Princess Diaries, in which the model and influencer takes fans into her world for the first time. Which brings us to this sorry mess - and the gnarly issue of whether Katie has, or has not, been trying to steal her girl's thunder. Team Andre say: 'It's almost like Katie wanted to overshadow Princess's show and insert herself into the narrative – normally, you'd think a parent would step back and let their child enjoy their moment in the spotlight but Katie couldn't do that.' But Katie has insisted: 'This isn't about me. I have to clarify this. I don't care that I'm not in Princess's show. 'I don't need to raise my profile by being on Princess's show, I do enough stuff. 'All what I want to do, is just whatever my daughter does, and it's the same with Junior, I don't care if I'm in the background, but I want to watch her do her photo shoots, I wanna watch her do her signings, because that's what I did and my mum used to come along and support. I want to watch her do her photo shoots, I wanna watch her do her signings, because that's what I did and my mum used to come along and support. Katie Price 'And I just wanna be there with her because I now I feel that I've missed out on so much.' Perhaps the only voice that should matter here is the surprisingly quiet tone of Princess's. I met her last week at a launch event for her series and she was shy, deferring to her doting big bro Junior, and is clearly a sweet, well-mannered kid. Yesterday, though, she found her voice and added her own take on her parents' slanging match. During a fan Q&A on Snapchat, one fan asked: 'Does it affect you even now when your mum and dad don't get on?' Princess responded with a short video message, saying: 'To be honest it doesn't affect me. At the end of the day, they broke up when I was two years old so I don't even have any memory of them being together.' Over the top of the clip, Princess wrote: 'I love my mum and dad and that's all that matters.'. The least surprising thing of all is that Britain's first family is once again exploding in public. The Price-Andre dynasty rose and fell in front of the cameras - and now it's time for their reckoning.
