Audio Found In Inter Milan Captain's Alleged Blasphemy Case
Audio has been recovered in the alleged blasphemy case involving Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia. They further report, however, that the 27-year-old would only risk a fine and not a suspension.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has been at the centre of some controversy regarding the end of the Derby d'Italia against Juventus.
That match had ended in a 1-0 loss for Inter. Naturally, the mood was not a positive one considering the Serie A title implications and the rivalry with the Bianconeri.
Moreover, Martinez's performance had not been a positive one. The Argentine squandered good chances during the match.
Inter captain Martinez vented his anger in the aftermath of that Derbt d'Italia loss.
And there are allegations that the 27-year-old used blasphemous language, a punishable offense in Italian football.
So far, however, there has been no conclusive evidence of Martinez using any blasphemous language.
The Sporting Justice looked into the matter. But they found no audio evidence of the language, and lip reading evidence was inadmissible.
And for his part, Martinez has vehemently denied using any blasphemous language.
That does not mean that the matter is closed, however.
Italian FA Prosecutor Giuesppe Chine is investigating the case. He has received all of the available footage of the incident from Italian broadcaster DAZN.
And according to Sky Sport Italia, Chine has recovered audio of Martinez's outburst.
Now the question is what punishment the Inter captain would be at risk of in the case of a guilty verdict.
According to Sky, Martinez, the only risk would be a fine.
There is a particular reason for this.
If the Sporting Justice were to rule on the matter, then they could have issued an immediate suspension.
However, the Sporting Justice was not able to do so. This was due to the initial unavailability of any clear audio evidence.
The FA prosecutor Chine has now recovered audio, reports Sky.
However, a key detail is that in the case of any verdict from the FA, a player is able to appeal and reach a settlement agreement.
It would not, on the other hand, be possible to reduce a one-match suspension. Either a player is suspended, or they or not.
Therefore, the FA does not issue one-match suspensions as the Sporting Justice does.
Therefore, the FA would instead issue Martinez a fine – something that could be subject to a reduction on appeal, unlike a one-match ban,

Popular TikTok star leaves US after being detained
LAS VEGAS -- LAS VEGAS (AP) — Khaby Lame, the world's most popular TikTok personality with millions of followers, has left the U.S. after being detained by immigration agents in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa. The Senegalese-Italian influencer, whose legal name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained Friday at Harry Reid International Airport but was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed in a statement. Lame arrived in the U.S. on April 30 and 'overstayed the terms of his visa,' the ICE spokesperson said. The Associated Press sent a message seeking comment Tuesday to the email address listed on Lame's Instagram account. He has not publicly commented on his detainment. His detainment and voluntary departure from the U.S. comes amid President Donald Trump's escalating crackdown on immigration, including raids in Los Angeles that sparked days of protests against ICE, as the president tests the bounds of his executive authority. A voluntary departure — which was granted to Lame — allows those facing removal from the U.S. to avoid a deportation order on their immigration record, which could prevent them from being allowed back into the U.S. for up to a decade. The 25-year-old rose to international fame during the pandemic without ever saying a word in his videos, which would show him reacting to absurdly complicated 'life hacks." He has over 162 million followers on TikTok alone. The Senegal-born influencer moved to Italy when he was an infant with his working class parents and has Italian citizenship. His internet fame quickly evolved. He signed a multi-year partnership with designer brand Hugo Boss in 2022. In January, he was appointed as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Argentina's high court upholds former President Kirchner's conviction
Argentina's Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (pictured in 2013) must serve her six-year prison sentence for a corruption conviction. File Photo by Stefano Spaziani/UPI | License Photo June 10 (UPI) -- Former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner must serve her six-year prison sentence for a corruption conviction, the nation's Supreme Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday. The three-judge court unanimously upheld Kirchner's 2022 corruption conviction and ruled she is banned from holding public office. The conviction arises from how awards for 51 public works projects were issued in what became the "Vialidad" trial. Kirchner, 72, received due process, and the "rulings issued by the lower courts were based on extensive evidence assessed in accordance with the rules of sound judgment and the penal code enacted by Congress," the judges wrote in Tuesday's verdict. She had argued that the trial arose from political persecution because she is an influential leader of the opposition to current Argentine President Javier Milei and his government. Kirchner was Argentina's president from 2007 to 2015. She also was Argentina's vice president from 2019 to 2023. She is a popular leftist politician and recently announced she intended to run for a seat during the Sept. 7 Buenos Aires Province legislative elections. If she were to run and win, the victory would have given Kirchner immunity against imprisonment over the four-year term as a provincial lawmaker. The Supreme Court's decision against her makes it impossible for Kirchner to seek any public office. "The republic works," Milei said in a translated statement made during his visit to Israel. "All the corrupt journalists, accomplices of politicians, have been exposed in their operetta about the alleged pact of impunity," Milei said. The Federal Oral Court 2 in December 2022 found Kirchner guilty of corruption, sentenced her to prison and imposed a lifetime disqualification from holding public office due to "fraudulent administration to the detriment of the state." She was allowed to stay out of prison while the Supreme Court deliberated the case. Kirchner similarly was charged with fraud in 2016 and was convicted in February 2021, which made her Argentina's first vice president to be convicted of a crime while still in office. She was accused of and convicted of directing 51 public works contracts to a company owned by Kirchner's friend and business associate, Lazaro Baez. The scheme also directed $1 billion to Baez, who is serving a 12-year sentence for a money-laundering conviction in 2021 and was sentenced to another six years in prison for charges arising from the case that resulted inKirchner's conviction.
