Chandrababu insulting Muslims in Haj committee appointments
Lajam described the appointments as a grave insult to Muslim community, asserting that the government violated the Central Haj Committee Act No. 35 of 2002, specifically Sub-Clause 3, which mandates the inclusion of three religious' scholars (Ulema) in the committee. Instead, the coalition government issued GO No 38 on April 16, 2025, nominating 13 members, including three TDP activists, Pathan Khadar Khan, Sayyad Shahi Sultan, and Sheikh Hassan Basha, labelling them as religious scholars.
Lajam highlighted that Sheikh Hassan Basha, one of the appointees, previously served as a receptionist at the TDP office, questioning his qualifications to guide Haj pilgrims. He emphasized that only qualified Muslim scholars, such as Muftis, Hafiz, Ulema, or Maulvis, possess the expertise to train pilgrims on the religious rituals (Arkaan) performed in Mecca.
Appointing party workers in place of such scholars undermines the committee's purpose and disrespects the Muslim community, Lajam stated. He demanded the immediate cancellation of GO Number 38 and the removal of the three TDP workers from the Haj Committee. Lajam further accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of deceiving Muslims by publicly supporting the Waqf Act while appointing unqualified party workers, calling for accountability and respect for the community's religious sentiments.

Janmashtami to be celebrated at every police station: Yogi
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said Janmashtami would be celebrated at every police station and police training institute in the state on Aug 16. "The occasion would provide trainees with an opportunity to showcase their cultural and artistic talents, making the festival a symbol of cultural unity," Yogi made this announcement during his visit to Moradabad where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 87 development projects worth Rs 1,172 crore. Accusing the Samajwadi Party of having tried to restrict Janmashtami celebrations when it was in power, Yogi said his govt would ensure grand celebrations across the state. Referring to the result of the Kundarki bypoll held in Nov 2024, where BJP trumped the SP candidate in a Muslim majority area, the CM called it Moradabad's rejection of SP's and Congress' divisive politics. "The public chose satisfaction over appeasement, leading to the forfeiture of SP-Congress deposits," he said. Highlighting the global recognition which Moradabad's handicraft are getting, the CM said "It was the commitment of BJP's double-engine government to elevate the city and its products on the world stage. Once known for chaos and hooliganism, Moradabad is now renowned for its excellent handicrafts and brass items under the ODOP scheme, exporting products worth Rs 11,000 to Rs 15,000 crore." He added that Moradabad's artists, including one who received a Padma award, are working tirelessly to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a self-reliant India. 1 2 Kolkata/Jalpaiguri: Seven people were arrested by Cooch Behar Police on Wednesday in connection with the attack on the convoy of Bengal leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari. Sources said the arrested included TMC workers and Trinamool Yuva functionaries. The arrested were remanded to five days' judicial custody. Meanwhile, Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya moved a notice in Rajya Sabha under Rule 267 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of State (Rajya Sabha), seeking a discussion on the attack, which he described as "an attack on democracy". Adhikari's convoy came under attack in Cooch Behar on Tuesday, when he arrived to attend a protest rally and submit a memorandum to the SP regarding alleged assaults on BJP workers. As the convoy reached Khagrabari, a group of alleged TMC supporters attacked the convoy. In his complaint, Adhikari named 41 persons, including state minister, Udayan Guha. "We are not going to leave them. If Udayan Guha was directly involved in the incident, the police's role cannot be ruled out," Adhikari said at a meeting on Wednesday. Youth Must Utilize Government Schemes to Develop Skills: Khalid Naveed
Mahbubnagar: Social activist Khalid Naveed has urged unemployed Muslim youth to take full advantage of government skill development schemes to secure livelihoods and contribute to community progress. Highlighting how youth are being deprived of employment due to lack of proper skills, Naveed said particularly youth from Muslim community, despite constituting over 200 million citizens, continues to face economic exclusion due to limited access to vocational training, unorganized manufacturing sectors, and social stigmas. 'Skill development is the key to breaking this cycle,' he stressed. Government initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) are offering free courses with placement assistance in trades like mobile repair, digital marketing, electrical work, refrigeration servicing, and para-medical services. 'These certifications enhance employability and restore dignity, especially for young men who might otherwise remain unemployed or in low-paying jobs,' Naveed noted. He highlighted the growing participation of Muslim women, with JSS centres training them in fashion design, office management, beautician work, and soft skills. 'Women once confined to domestic roles are now becoming income earners and even employers,' he said, citing Hyderabad's cooperatives of women supplying garments to e-commerce platforms. Naveed emphasized that skilled youth are also emerging as entrepreneurs, aligning with Start-up India and Make in India missions. However, he cautioned that language barriers, digital illiteracy, and social biases must be addressed through culturally relevant outreach. 'Government schemes are opportunities waiting to be seized,' stressed Naveed, urging youth to take advantage of various state and Central government skill development schemes.
