Kylian Mbappe has been taken to hospital in the United States after missing Real Madrid's Club World Cup opener on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old trained with his Madrid teammates in Florida last Sunday ahead of their first game in Group H against Al-Hilal.
However, Mbappe missed Tuesday's training session, with Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso claiming that the French forward was suffering from a fever.
'Kylian was feeling a little better, but not enough,' Alonso said after Tuesday's session.
'It's better for him not to train. We'll wait until the last minute, we'll decide tomorrow.'
Acute gastroenteritis, often called the stomach flu, is a common condition causing inflammation of the stomach and intestines. It typically results in symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, often accompanied by fever and dehydration. Most cases are mild and resolve within a few days, but severe cases may require medical attention, especially for dehydration.
Mbappe was not named in the squad for the 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Wednesday night. More Trending

Spain's High Court upholds conviction of ex-soccer chief Rubiales' in kiss case

MADRID, June 25 (Reuters) - Spain's High Court on Wednesday upheld a verdict that found former soccer federation president Luis Rubiales guilty of sexual assault for an unsolicited kiss on the lips of national team player Jenni Hermoso at the 2023 World Cup in Sydney. The court rejected multiple appeals against the conviction, reaffirming Rubiales kissed Hermoso without her consent during the medal ceremony after Spain's women had won the trophy, according to the ruling seen by Reuters. Rubiales was fined over 10,000 euros ($11,592) and acquitted of coercion charges alongside three co-defendants. Prosecutors had sought a 2-1/2-year prison sentence and called for a retrial, both of which were dismissed. The incident sparked widespread debate about sexism in Spanish society and women's football, fueling momentum for the "Me Too" movement in the country. Rubiales argued that his actions were motivated by an uncontrollable joy, but the court ruled that his restraint with other players and attendees demonstrated he could have avoided such behaviour with Hermoso. "Since that emotion did not lead him to express his joy so effusively by kissing the other players or the accompanying persons in the box, and he restrained himself, he could also have done so, without too much effort, with the captain of the team," the court said. Royal Ascot jockey banned and given significant fine after winning biggest race of his life

Royal Ascot jockey banned and given significant fine after winning biggest race of his life Gary Carroll was recently hit with a ban and fine by the British Horseracing Authority's Whip Review Committee after his win on Cercene in the Coronation Stakes Gary Carroll has been handed a 14-day ban (Image: Alan Crowhurst, Getty Images for Ascot Racecourse ) Leading jockey Gary Carroll, who recently rode Cercene to a shock 33-1 victory in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, is set to miss a key upcoming race. Carroll secured his first-ever Group 1 win as Cercene triumphed in the top-level 1m contest for three year old fillies, upsetting the heavily favoured Zarigana. This remarkable win also marked a milestone for Co Tipperary-based trainer Joseph G Murphy, as it was his first Group 1 win in 50 years of holding a licence, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. ‌ Following the win, Carroll said: "This is unbelievable. I have been riding a long time now and been placed in plenty of Group One races. ‌ "This is my first one and, if I was ever to ride a Group One winner, I wanted it to be for Joe Murphy. I have been riding for him since I was a 7lb claimer and he has been very good to me. I am delighted I can repay him. "Cercene ran a blinder at the Curragh, where the slow pace didn't suit. We went a bit better gallop there today. She got to the front a furlong and a half out and she waited. Then the French horse came and headed me. "To be fair to this one, she is not big, but she is very tough and stuck her head out for me. This is hugely satisfying. Group One races are so hard to come by, and good horses are very hard to come by. To do this at Royal Ascot is magic." The Breeders' Cup is also potentially on her agenda towards the year's end. Yet, unless he wins an appeal, Carroll will miss the Irish Oaks on July 19 due to a whip ban incurred. He was summoned before the BHA's Whip Review Committee following his ride in the Coronation Stakes, where the panel handed down both a suspension and a fine to Carroll. "Taking into account that this was a Class 1 race, the penalty in respect of the above permitted level was doubled. Therefore, he will be suspended for 14 days from Tuesday 08 – Monday 21 July 2025, inclusive and fined £5,800."

Connections looking to to see the real Falakeyah next time out

Having bolted up on her Wolverhampton debut in November, the Owen Burrows-trained filly looked every inch a top-class performer in the making when running away with Newmarket's Pretty Polly Stakes on her return to action in the spring. After sidestepping the Oaks at Epsom and being ruled out of the French equivalent, Falakeyah dropped back to a mile for the Coronation Stakes, but ended up racing too enthusiastically for her own good on the front end before weakening in the home straight. Angus Gold, racing manager for owners Shadwell, said: 'It was a pity, as I was very pleased with her before the race. She settled beforehand, I thought, she was good and calm in the ring and Jim (Crowley) said she went down brilliantly relaxed. 'I've only seen the replay once, but it looked to me like for the first 50 or 60 yards of the race she was OK and then when Hollie (Doyle, riding Duty First) came upsides her she just put her head in the air and took off basically. It just set her alight and that was it. 'On a hot day like that, she was never going to be able to keep going at that pace, so we'll just give her a bit of time. We didn't learn anything regarding distance or anything like that, all we learnt was she's not going to win races if she races like that.' He added: 'We know she's considerably better than that, her work at home is very high class and that run didn't bare any resemblance to her work at home. We'll obviously have to try to settle her next time and maybe we'll have a look at something like the Nassau. We'll just see how everyone feels nearer the time. 'At home she settles beautifully and is quite happy to take a lead and doesn't fight the jockey, so we've just got to get her to do that on the racecourse if she's going to have any chance of finishing off her races.'
