Sakra appoints Tandem Healthcare to build new 500-bed hospital in Bengaluru
The new facility complements Sakra's existing 350-bed tertiary care centre in Marathahalli, advancing the group's goal to expand by over 1,000 beds in Bengaluru in the coming years. 'This facility is a strategic leap forward—not just in scale, but in how healthcare is imagined and delivered. It reinforces our commitment to building infrastructure that advances clinical excellence and puts the patient experience at the centre,' said Lovekesh Phasu, Group Chief Operating Officer, Sakra World Hospital.
This new facility in North Bengaluru will be a one-of-a-kind green biophilic hospital, incorporating garden lounges, green balconies, planters, an arrival canopy, and serene lake views to create a healing environment inspired by nature. It is set to be completed and operational within 30 months.
Sakra, competing with Manipal and Fortis, is launching a ₹1,000 crore facility in Bengaluru. Backed by Secom Medical System and Toyota Tsusho, the G+9 tower will showcase Indo-Japanese architecture, combining tradition with innovation.
Moreover, the hospital will deliver cutting-edge healthcare through advanced clinical programmes, including a Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Programme with LINAC, MR-LINAC, Gamma Knife, Brachytherapy, and state-of-the-art nuclear medicine, alongside specialised Interventional Neuro & Rehab, Cardiology, and Mother & Child Programmes with a premium C-Suite.

Cracker Barrel CEO responds The CEO of the company, Julie Felss Masino, explained the changes in an interview with Good Morning America. 'People like what we're doing. Cracker Barrel needs to feel like the Cracker Barrel for today and for tomorrow -- the things that you love are still there. We need people to choose us, and we want people to choose us,' she said. Former employees arrested for stealing IT firm's data, causing loss
1 2 Pune: Three former employees of an IT company in Hinjewadi were arrested earlier this week on the charge of stealing the firm's confidential data and causing a loss of Rs82 crore to it. The fraud occurred between April 2024 and August this year. An officer of the company lodged a complaint with the Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police last week. Police investigations revealed that these employees were in contact with the complainant's client — a company in the US. The trio, along with the US-based firm, were duping the complainant's company. By using the stolen codes and software solutions, they developed over 100 websites and generated revenue. This caused a loss of Rs82 crore to the complainant's company. "We tracked the new company of the accused in Baner. Police sub-inspector Sagar Poman raided its office last week with a team and took the three suspects into custody," Swami said. He said the police recovered three laptops and four mobile handsets from them. "The search is on for two others," Swami said. Indo-Korean Centre in Pune designated TOPIK test centre for Korean language
The Youthbuild Foundation's Indo-Korean Centre (IKC) in Balewadi has been designated as an official overseas TOPIK Institution and test centre for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) by South Korea's National Institute for International Education (NIIED), under the Ministry of Education. With this recognition, Pune becomes the only city in Western India to host TOPIK, offering internationally recognised certification for students, professionals, and enthusiasts keen on studying or working in South Korea. The IKC operates under the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Mumbai. TOPIK, first introduced in 1997, is the South Korean government's official language proficiency test assessing reading, writing, and listening skills. Its certification is widely required for admissions to South Korean universities, employment opportunities in South Korean companies, visa procedures, and academic advancement. The test is divided into two categories — TOPIK I (beginner, Levels 1–2) and TOPIK II (intermediate to advanced, Levels 3–6) — with results valid for two years. Earlier this year, the Indo-Korean Centre in Pune hosted the 100th TOPIK test on May 11, and is now preparing for the 103rd edition scheduled on November 16, 2025. Each session will accommodate 200 candidates for both TOPIK I and II. Registration for the upcoming test opens on August 26 and closes on August 31, or until all seats are filled. Applications can be submitted online via the IKC website: Dr Eunjoo Lim, director of the Indo-Korean Centre, said, 'TOPIK is more than a language test — it is a key mechanism for developing the human capital needed to drive Korea–India collaboration across education, industry, and culture.'
