Great-great-grandson of Henry Ford named Livingston chairman

Ford, is now the majority shareholder at the West Lothian club and will act as the chairman as John Ward leaves his post in the boardroom.
The new Livingston chairman works as vice president of sales and marketing for Pentastar Aviation, a private aircraft management operation based outside of Detroit.
Founder and former owner of Baycup Ltd, McIlvogue said: 'When I chose to invest in the football club I did so to be of help whether short, medium or long term. It has been a great pleasure to support the club through its difficulties and see it bounce back with the first silverware in over a decade and a real fight for Premiership promotion. I believe the time is now right for me to pass on my shares to an investor with a real appetite to take the club forward on and off the park.
'When I joined the club, I said my only aim was that when I leave the club is in a better place than when I arrived. I believe I have achieved this with Calvin's acquisition of my shareholding.
'I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the supporters and staff of Livingston FC, a special mention to the staff who's work behind the scenes goes largely unnoticed, their hard work and passion for Livingston Football Club is nothing short of incredible. I look forward to watch the club thrive with Calvin's support and guidance'.
New chairman & majority shareholder Ford said, 'I am overjoyed and honoured to be part of Livingston Football Club. What drew me to wanting to be involved with LFC was the incredible leadership that people like Davie Martindale and John Ward portray. They have a passion for this Club and community that is contagious, and I look forward to being part of something special here'.
Outgoing chairman, Ward said: 'I am delighted to welcome Calvin to the club. I feel that for the first time in the history of Livingston Football Club we will have an owner who is working in the best interests of the club and fans.
'As a Director of Livingston Football Club, I look forward to working with Calvin. I believe his integrity and enthusiasm for football will bring a sea change to Livingston and the wider West Lothian community'.

Up-and-coming baseball star dead at 22 in horror car crash two months after signing his first professional contract

A young New Jersey baseball star who just signed his first professional contract has tragically died at the age of 22 following a car crash in North Carolina. Nick Danbrowney was killed in a wreck on August 18 in the town of Corolla in the northern stretch of the Outer Banks. The crash happened after midnight. Danbrowney was the passenger in a 2023 Ford Explorer being driven by 65-year-old Rosario Edgar, according to ABC 13 News. Edgar was traveling at a high rate of speed when the SUV veered off the road, struck an embankment and overturned multiple times before coming to a rest. Danbrowney was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Edgar was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Danbrowney just recently signed his first professional contract in the minor leagues A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Danbrowney's family. At the time of publishing, over $34,600 had been raised. Danbrowney was a star in high school at Barnegat before becoming the all-time leader in strikeouts at Ramapo College. He put up 225 career strikeouts for the Roadrunners - including 72 this past season. After leaving college, he signed a professional contract in the independent Pecos League - inking a deal with the Bakersfield Train Robbers in California. He posted 32 strikeouts across 21.2 innings in the regular season for Bakersfield. 'I'm numb,' said Train Robbers Manager Bill Rogan in a press release. 'Our entire team is devastated. Even though we went our separate ways after the season, we're still a close knit group. 'We're having trouble dealing with this. Nick was a gentleman off the field and a terrific pitcher on the mound with a bright future. We loved Nick and will never forget him.'

Celtic next for Martindale's men

On loan Adam Montgomery may have been fit after suffering a muscle injury, but misses out against his parent club when Livingston travel to Celtic on Saturday (15.00) seeking to snap a five game losing run against the Glasgow side. David Martindale's men sit in third position in the William Hill Premiership having accumulated four points out of a possible six with a draw at Kilmarnock and victory over Falkirk. Celtic have a maximum six points and are second, behind early-season leaders, Heart of Midlothian. Now comes a big test at the home of the champions as manager Martindale bids to consolidate The Lions position in the 12-strong Premiership. Livingston travel to Parkhead following their disappointing exit from the Premier Sports Cup, a 2-0 defeat at the Home of the Set Fare Arena by Hibs last Sunday. Martindale admitted post-game that there is a gap between the top six in the league, and the bottom six, and Hibs were the first team from the higher echelon they have faced in some time. Now they face another heavyweight but the Livi boss was fairly happy with 'bits' of the performance against the men from Easter Road, but added that you get 'crucified' if you make mistakes at the top level. Martindale said the adversity of losing games of football cannot bite into the working week, and his philosophy is one game at a time. Celtic go into the game following their disappointing 0-0 draw with Kazakhstani opposition at Celtic Park in midweek, a scoreline which did not impress home fans. The performance against Kairat, a side ranked well below them in the UEFA standings, did not impress manager Brendan Rodgers either. A chant aimed at the Celtic board rang around Parkhead at the final whistle on Wednesday. Fans want fresh blood into the club and so does manager Brendan Rodgers who has endured a frustrating lack of progress during the summer transfer window. He told the media after Wednesday's game that Celtic have started the season well, and been defensively strong, but he needs 'moments of quality' up-front and he needs to 'improve the squad'. This could be a good time to face Celtic, however, Livingston could face a backlash. Long-term, Martindale's objective is to take the West Lothian club back to Hampden and then, hopefully, to achieve European football. However, the short-term aspiration of The Lions this season is to consolidate in Scotland's top league. The transfer window is set to slam shut soon with Martindale seeking to add to his squad. A right-back is a priority after the squad suffering a number of injuries. Like this: Like Related
