Kelly Clarkson got visibly emotional onstage just days before her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, tragically died following a private battle with cancer.
Page Six exclusively reported over the weekend that the star had been fighting back tears during her performance in Las Vegas on July 26.
Now, a resurfaced video — originally shared via TikTok last month — shows Clarkson wiping away tears as she introduced Piece by Piece in Sin City. At one point, the 43-year-old singer joked to her Las Vegas Studio Session residency attendees about the magic of 'compartmentalisation'.

Kelly Clarkson in tears on stage day before her ex-husband's death
more as... more she forced a smile in front of fans.
The singer appeared visibly distressed... ... more
Clarkson previously revealed that she wrote the song about Blackstock. She released the catchy track in 2015 when they were still married.
However, after their contentious divorce in 2020, the Grammy winner famously changed the lyrics — and reflected on the editing process during last month's performance.
'I've never rewritten a song more and I probably never will,' she explained to fans. 'I wrote this song with a lot of hope and projection for happiness and better than what was happening. And then, well, life set in.'

The TV star 'had to change the lyrics' because singing the original rendition was 'embarrassing' and not 'fun' for her.
However, Clarkson now thinks the change sounded 'a little angry' for her liking.
'I just wanted to explain how it feels now. I'm 43. I've done some therapy, and I changed the lyrics now and I think it's perfect. I promise. I'm not gonna change it again,' she noted.
'It just represents, kind of, I don't know, I feel like we grow up, right?' the Kelly Clarkson Show host continued. 'And this is the more grown-up version of it.'
When Clarkson found herself emotional once more, she turned her back to the audience and tried 'to pull it all together.'
She fought back tears and exclaimed, 'Oh, s**t. Let's make it happen. Screw it, let's just sing it. This is Piece by Piece.'

In the tweaked lyrics, Clarkson changed the 'he' pronouns to 'I' as she sang about someone 'collecting [her] up off the ground' and 'filling the holes' her father 'burned' in her.
Instead of singing about a partner who 'takes care' of her, she crooned, 'I'm learning every day / How to love me / I let go of the shame / That you taught me.'
She concluded the chorus — initially about a 'kind … man' and a 'father [who] could stay,' by singing, 'Piece by piece, I restored my faith / A heart can still beat, even if it breaks.'
Clarkson abruptly cancelled her residency dates last week due to Blackstock being 'ill' — only for news to break one day later that the 48-year-old had lost a years-long battle to skin cancer.
The singer, who shared daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, with Blackstock, has yet to comment publicly on his passing.
Social media users praised Clarkson's emotional performance after the fact, with one pointing out, 'She did this knowing Brandon's time was coming to an end and her kid's hearts were going to break and she would be there for them to carry them through.'
Another gushed, 'Knowing she was singing this knowing her children's father was dying hits different.'

Taylor Swift's cheeky jab to critics in new interview alongside boyfriend Travis Kelce

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music. Followed categories will be added to My News. Taylor Swift has taken a cheeky swipe at her critics just one day after the announcement of her twelfth studio album sent fans into meltdown. In a brief new promo for her highly-anticipated appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights – which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason – Swift referenced backlash over all the attention her presence at his NFL games had attracted throughout their relationship. 'Thanks for having me on my favourite podcast,' Swift, 35, told the siblings. She then joked: 'As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens … it's more of me.' Earlier, Jason had provided a breathless, enthusiastic introduction for Swift, describing her as 'the most-awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and iHeart Radio Music Awards', pointing out she'd won 14 Grammys. 'She is the only artist in the history to an album of the year. Last December, she wrapped up the Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows across 51 cities, five continents. It was the most-attended tour of all time. Of all time! ' … Are you ready for it? Making your podcast debut, the most expensive guest in the history of shows – Taylor Swift!' The singer was seen stifling giggles throughout the monologue, telling him at the end: 'That intro Jason, oh my God … His soul has left his body. That was so good, that was so sweet.' Swift has given an interview on her boyfriend's podcast. Picture: Instagram The latest promo comes after Swift once again sent fans into a frenzy, re-emerging after months under the radar to reveal she's about to release her twelfth studio album: The Life of a Showgirl. The singer popped up in the first teaser for her boyfriend's podcast, in which the couple appeared alongside each other and engaged in some flirty banter about how well they 'match' before dropping the big news. 'So I wanted to show you something … This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl,' Swift said as she held up the album, with Kelce adding, 'TS12!' The full podcast episode will drop early Thursday morning, Australian time. On Tuesday, Kelce also offered a rare glimpse into his romance with Swift, telling GQ magazine about how they fell in love. 'Whenever I'm with her, it feels like we're just regular people,' Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, explained. 'When there is not a camera on us, we're just two people that are in love. 'It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about, and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out. 'But I would say that it's as normal of … it happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically.' Kelce added that he and Swift, both 35, 'fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with.' 'We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the f**k off.' Picture: AP Photo/Charlie Riedel, File The singer's presence at some of the games and the attention it attracts has sparked some criticism among football fans. Picture:The pair first unveiled their romance in September 2023 when Swift was spotted cheering her three-time Super Bowl-winning boyfriend on during a home game. Kelce and Swift went on to make several loved-up public appearances over the months that followed, with the athlete even popping up on stage in a cameo during his girlfriend's sold-out Eras Tour last year. According to Kelce, their mutual support and respect for each other's work has brought them even closer together. 'I hadn't experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,' he explained to GQ. 'That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows. She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I've seen what she goes through. 'I've seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it's mind-blowing.' Denzel Washington wishes he had 'prayed more'

Denzel Washington wishes he'd been more active in his faith when he was younger. The 70-year-old actor - who was baptised and obtained a minister license last year - has enjoyed a long and successful career and the only advice he has to offer his younger self is to have been more in contact with God. Asked the advice he'd give a younger Denzel, he told Extra: 'Pray more. That's it. Pray more. That's what I would tell that younger Denzel Washington. Pray more. Get on your knees more.' The Oscar-winning star is currently promoting his new film Highest 2 Lowest - in which he plays a music mogul who is targeted in a ransom plot - and the movie marks his fifth collaboration with Spike Lee, which is always comfortable. He said: 'I don't want to say, 'Just like old times,' but you know, you're back in the saddle. 'He leaves me alone. I don't know what he's doing. And he put together a great team of actors… Wendell [Pierce] and Jeffrey and Michael Potts and myself, and then the young buck A$AP [Rocky], and just let it rip.' Denzel was baptised in a special ceremony at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ, in New York City's Harlem neighbourhood just a few days before last Christmas. According to New York Post column PageSix, Archbishop Christopher Bryant revealed Denzel said: "In one week I turn 70. It took a while but I'm here. If [God] can do this for me, there's nothing He can't do for you. The sky literally is the limit." The actor's wife Pauletta Washington - with whom he has four adult children - also spoke of her pride in her husband's spiritual achievements, saying: "Forty-six years later, here I'm still standing next to him as only God will have it. "So, I'm very proud of you. You are the head of our house and you have set a great example for our children, who are now adult children who know the difference because we have shown them the difference." After the ceremony, Denzel posed for a picture holding his certificate of baptism and his minister licence - which will allow him to be ordained in the future. The Training Day star previously opened up about his faith in a recent interview with Esquire magazine, admitting he believes it's not "fashionable" to talk about religion in Hollywood. He said: "When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I've been given by my lord and saviour. I'm unafraid. "I don't care what anyone thinks. See, talking about the fear part of it - you can't talk like that and win Oscars. You can't talk like that and party. You can't say that in this town. "I'm free now. It's not talked about in this town. It's not talked about. It's not talked about. It's not fashionable. It's not sexy. But that doesn't mean people in Hollywood don't believe."

Dolly Parton gives advice to Kelly Clarkson after Brandon Blackstock death

Dolly Parton has urged Kelly Clarkson to "remember the very best" of her time with Brandon Blackstock. The 79-year-old music icon has offered some advice to her friends Kelly and Reba McEntire following the death of Blackstock - who was Kelly's ex-husband and Reba's stepson - and touched on her own experiences with grief after her husband Carl Thomas Dean died earlier this year aged 82. She told Entertainment Tonight: "I think you just have to be grateful for the years that you've had with someone. 'And you just try to remember the very best of all that. And take their energy that they had given you then and kinda just recycle that and let that become a part of you. "Just honour their memory." Blackstock - a former music manager turned full-time rancher - died aged 48 from melanoma on 7 August. His 18-year-old son Seth Blackstock - who he had with first wife Melissa Ashworth Wells - recently took to Instagram to share his devastation at the passing of his beloved father and "best friend". He wrote on Instagram over the weekend: 'I lost my hero yesterday, words can't describe how proud of you I am on raising me and your 3 other kids. 'You were a father, a son, a brother, and most importantly my best friend. 'You'll have to watch me grow up from a Birds Eye view now but that's OK with me. There's no one else on this earth that I would want to be my dad because no one can be half the man you were to me. 'I'll see you everyday when the sun rises and falls. I can confidently say all the deer and elk took a sigh of relief when the best hunter I've ever known laid his rifle down for the last time.' He concluded: 'I love you so much and can't wait to throw a line in the water with you again. Love you dad. Be good or good at it -love your son Seth." Kelly, 43, is yet to address his death publicly. She and Blackstock were married for seven years before divorcing in 2022, and despite their split, Kelly prioritised his relationship with their two children, River Rose, 11, and Remington, nine, rearranging her schedule to allow them frequent visits during his illness. A source has now told UsWeekly about how she is dealing wit the fallout from his death from cancer: 'It has been draining, exhausting, emotional (and) devastating. '(But) her children have always come first. 'A big part of (her care for Brandon) was making her schedule available for transporting the children to visit Brandon.'
