The Fortune Hotel branded 'best reality show on TV' after unexpected twist

Metro2 days ago
The Fortune Hotel has received some high praise from viewers after delighting fans with its second episode.
Kicking off on Wednesday night, viewers have been hooked to the second season of the game show that has hotel guests try and trick and deceive their way to a briefcase full of cash.
Presented by Stephen Mangan, the show sees twenty contestants work in ten pairs to win a whopping £250,000.
The second episode on Thursday night cemented the competition show as the best of the best as a twist saw two bumbling guests snatch the cash, while fan-favourites who had been performing well, were chucked out of the hotel.
Poor Jake and Mike were the third pair to be eliminated from the show after a bit of briefcase swapping saw them land with an early checkout.
Fans were devastated to see them go, and completely in awe of the game that saw Fred and Min somehow stay in the game and go to their room with £20,000 – despite struggling in all the tasks.
'JAKE AND MIKE ROBBED #TheFortuneHotel,' said fansvfavourites on X.
'Fred and Min are so jammy #TheFortuneHotel,' said dianerosewarn.
'the best reality tv show on the tele btw #TheFortuneHotel,' said fansvfavourites.
The unexpected twist only made fans more excited for the next episode as they see who has worked out who has the cash.
'Can't wait for next week! What a fantastic episode. So good. #TheFortuneHotel,' said ThomasR14336083.
'Now who is going to rob Fred and Min of that case as some of the couples have suss it out??? #TheFortuneHotel,' said claireh5611.
'Love this show! There's so much suspicion already. TheFortuneHotel,' said ThomasR14336083.
Metro columnist Adam Miller was fortunate enough to actually play The Fortune Hotel, but according to him he 'didn't know life could be that stressful'.
Adam said how 'even without a life-changing amount of money at stake, stress levels were high'.
'We were put into pairs, and one by one we picked our case, opening it in front of the rival teams and hoping not to give any signals that might reveal the contents inside' he explained.
'Ours had nothing – it was a case full of blank paper. Regardless, I was shaking like I'd just opened a chest of gold – or the card that would see me banished. Suspicions were on us'.
To find out more about how he got on, you can read his full experience here.
The beginning of the show revealed that Atholl and John were the second pair to be eliminated (after Chelsey and Briony, who left in the first episode). More Trending
The pair exited the show at the very beginning of the episode after opening a briefcase to find that fortune was not on their side.
Atholl took to X to reveal that he and John actually ran into Jake and Mike after they were axed, revealing to fans that they were not impressed with the way events unfolded.
'We met the boys after they were eliminated as we were still in Grenada and they were liiivid! Rightfully so! #TheFortuneHotel,' said AthollMills on X.
The first two episodes of The Fortune Hotel are available to stream on ITVX, with episodes releasing on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9pm on ITV1.

Big Brother winner unrecognisable 7 years after 'accidental' win

The then-19-year-old won what was thought to be the last ever series of Big Brother. Big Brother's Cameron Cole went down in history in 2018, when he won what was thought to be the last ever series at the age of 19. ‌ The beloved reality programme has since returned on ITV, with a third season yet to air later this year. ‌ During his time in the iconic house, Cameron was showered in support from fans and his fellow housemates after coming out as gay, in one of TV's most emotional moments. ‌ Reflecting on that moment in a recent interview with Metro, Cameron revealed that he'd only told his best friend beforehand and had written letters to his family, which he still has. He feared the news would 'go down badly' with the other contestants and the public - only to have a completely different reaction. ‌ He told the publication: 'Once you come out on TV, you can't really do it again. I just don't even think about it now because there's no point hiding it. It is out there everywhere, and for that, I'm very grateful. [If I hadn't done it] I probably wouldn't have been living my true life which is never obviously a good thing.' Cameron went on to win the £100,000 from what he calls an 'accidental' win, but told host Emma Willis at the time that he didn't know what he'd plan to spend it on because he 'hadn't really thought that far ahead'. Unlike the likes of Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson, who have also appeared on Big Brother, Cameron opted for a quieter life away from fame following his stint on the show. ‌ He studied psychology in London and was in a long-term relationship with his boyfriend who he met in the city, though he still keeps his relationship and personal life private. In a post back in 2023, Cameron reflected on his fame from Big Brother, celebrating five years since he won the show. ‌ Alongside snaps from the show, he wrote on Instagram: 'I cannot believe it's been 5 years since the best 53 days of my life. I'm still so grateful to have done something as life changing as Big Brother. I lived my dream, and it never disappointed. 'I'm so glad big brother is back and that I won't be the last winner forever. I've loved this series so much and can relive it in a way I hadn't been able to. ‌ 'I can't explain how much I miss big brother and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't miss the house, housemates and absolutely everything it entitled, the BB voices, the task, diary room, chats, laughs the whole f*****g thing.' He went on: 'It was the safest and happiest I've ever been and will ever be. My safe haven the first place I felt I belonged and was normal. I love what was the best set of housemates and people. 'The memories made I'll never forget or get bored of remembering. I'll always miss it and crave the feeling and experience again, but when it makes me sad, I try to remember just how lucky I was to do it. ‌ 'Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with me at any point. It's always been so appreciated. I'll never forget you and I'll always miss you, big brother, more than anyone will ever know. 'You made a sad boy with no hope a happy boy and gave me the most priceless prizes: hope and reason to live and laugh again. You changed my life completely and unfortunately you were so good, my heart now hurts everyday with how much I miss you! 'That said I'm so f**king glad I got to spend 53 days of my life with you, if only it was more. So happy more people can now live it too with BB being back. Love you always BB and I'll forever miss you.'

Myleene Klass's ex responds to cheating claims

Myleene Klass's ex-husband has hit back at claims that he cheated on her. The 47-year-old musician, presenter and model recently warned those who 'have reason to' be afraid, following claims her ex-husband cheated on her with a well-known female celebrity. Klass was married for two years to her Irish bodyguard Graham Quinn, initially meeting in 2001, marrying in 2011, and divorcing two years later in 2013. Speaking about their relationship, she revealed that she caught him about to sleep with a 'famous person' while in her own home for her birthday. Now, however, Graham, with whom she shares two daughters, has clapped back at Klass. According to those close to him, a source told Daily Mail: 'He thinks she's a bully. 'They believe it was especially 'vindictive and calculated' of Myleene to launch the bombshell broadside on what she would have known was the week of Graham's 51st birthday.' In a previous chat with Fathers4Justice, Graham was also found to have said that Klass 'actively denied' him access to his two kids. He told how he felt that he was 'banging his head against a brick wall' in his attempts for access. saying: 'I haven't seen my kids in years. 'The only exception is when Myleene begrudgingly met me in a car park off the North Circular Road in 2014. 'She lowered the window about three inches and I could see the girls in the back. That was it. 'I've thrown so much more money at it [trying to see his daughters] and I can't afford much more. 'I've spent £20,000 and am probably further away from them now than I've ever been. I've missed so many birthdays and Christmas days. I'll never get that back.' Throughout this ordeal, Klass has declined to name the woman involved at the time. But earlier this week, the presenter took to Instagram with what appears to be a veiled warning to those 'who probably have reason to' be afraid, declaring she 'won't keep her mouth shut' and has 'receipts.' Alongside a photograph of her recently awarded MBE – for services to women's health, miscarriage awareness, and charity – Klass shared a heartfelt message with her followers. More Trending 'Wow. What a week it's been!' she wrote. 'Firstly, thank you. I have quite literally tens of thousands of messages of love and support for me and my family. I took a long time to learn there's strength in vulnerability.' She added: 'At 47, I've finally found my voice and it's clear, unapologetic and brutally honest.' 'To those that fear its truth, you probably have reason to. I have receipts. To those that need to hear it, I've got you—and I fully intend to continue using it to change the laws and legislation that neglect women and children in this country and around the world.' Metro has contacted Myleene Klass for comment. Got a story? 'Spicy' thriller tops Netflix chart after being binged for 56,900,000 hours

Non-English TV series are continuing to take Netflix by storm, with the latest chart-topping thriller drawing in millions of views in a matter of days. First released on July 30, Unspeakable Sins is a Spanish revenge drama about a woman who finds solace in the company of a younger man and embarks on an affair. Zuria Vega takes the lead as Helena, who conjures up a plan with a lover to escape her controlling husband, taking their troubled son with her. But she soon becomes dangerously entangled with secrets, lies, and Mexico's elite, as her act of vengeance outside her loveless marriage gets twisted into a perilous fight for survival. Other cast members include Erik Hayser, who plays powerful, abusive husband Claudio, while Andrés Baida plays Iván, who aids Helena in filing for divorce after a months-long steamy tryst. With 18 episodes, Unspeakable Sins promises plenty of salacious scheming, and you can be sure you're in safe hands with creator Leticia López Margalli, who's also the mastermind behind Netflix's Oscuro deseo. In the short time since its streaming debut, Unspeakable Sins has been watched for 56.9million hours in total, sending it rocketing to number one on the charts. And it's proven a hit with viewers, too, who are flooding social media with spicy reviews. X user @LoveReality9 described the series as 'addictive', already demanding a second season. 'Unspeakable Sins is extremely [spicy emojis] and addictive full of action taboo subjects full of mystery and one incredible ending of season one that will leave you with more questions! Every single time I got answers to my questions I had more questions', they wrote. '@netflix must renew it for a second season! Just WOW! This season is totally binge worthy!' 'Intense series. Loved it', added @david_clark34. Also heaping praise on the Spanish thriller, @katyanna25 posted: 'I can never get bored watching spanish shows. Almost always the same plot, but they always keep you hooked. #UnspeakableSins is one of them.' Taken aback by the show's explicit nature, @1Liasonfan wrote: 'I'm on episode 5, the sex scenes are def spicy, wow. The plot is not bad too. I can't turn away'. Others declared that the show has given them their new 'favourite villian', while many were left hot and bothered by the sexual scenes. In fact, @MelikhayaL3006 compared the show to porn, as @_Keshaye joked that things keep getting 'crazier and crazier'. And just in case all of that has still left you in need of some convincing, allow Netflix's Tudum to spill some more hints about what to expect. 'Their flirtation instantly explodes into a steamy tryst. Months later, the unlikely pair are in a relationship worth fighting for and must find a way for Helena to escape her abusive marriage to the rich and powerful Claudio (Hayser). 'When Iván suggests that he seduce Claudio, Helena's husband, on a hidden camera to give Helena enough leverage to file for an advantageous divorce, she jumps at the chance to free herself and her teenage son from Claudio's grip. 'But what starts as a seemingly foolproof plan quickly spirals out of control when Claudio can't take no for an answer, and the ensuing brawl exposes Helena and Iván's scheme. 'Helena arrives in the bloody aftermath only to find her husband missing, her lover on the run, and her son at the scene of the crime—without any memory of how he got there.' Tudum adds: 'As police flood the crime scene, Helena scrambles to cover up her and Iván's involvement and to protect her son from becoming an accidental fall guy. 'As she fends off the police, Claudio's adult children from his previous marriage, and Claudio's powerful business associates, Helena's already complicated life becomes a brutal fight for survival.' Non-English series have long been popular on the streaming platform, with season 3 of South Korean dystopian survival thriller Squid Game still flying high. More Trending Having dropped its final instalment on June 27, it's still attracting almost three million views weekly, having spent six weeks in Netflix's top 10 and charted in 60 countries. Other high-performing non-English programmes currently include South Korean action thriller Trigger, anime series My Melody & Kuromi, and South African crime thriller miniseries Marked.
