Vic Fangio doesn't rule out Jakorian Bennett competing for Eagles' No. 2 starting CB job
In a move that'll add more cornerback depth, the Eagles have acquired cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Raiders for Thomas Booker.
Bennett became the odd man out in a cornerback rotation that includes second-year cover guy Darien Porter, Eric Stokes, and Decamerion Richardson. Bennett was in attendance for the Eagles' Tuesday morning practice, and dressed for their preseason opener against the Bengals.
Philadelphia returned to the NovaCare Complex for a Saturday practice, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was asked about Bennett competing for the No. 2 cornerback job opposite Quinyon Mitchell. After watching Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson struggle against the Bengals, Fangio didn't rule anything out.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Bennett enters his third NFL season out of Maryland. The 24-year-old was a fourth-round pick of the Raiders in 2023. Last season, Bennett started seven of the 10 games that he played at outside cornerback and finished with eight passes defensed. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just 45 percent of pass attempts in his direction to be completed (third best in the league among players with 250+ coverage snaps). Quarterbacks posted a passer rating of just 57.9 and had zero touchdowns against him.
Bennett was the Raiders' best corner in the 10 games he played last year, but he's struggled to stay healthy in his first two seasons, and according to The Athletic, he saw his reps dwindle with the hiring of Pete Carroll.

10 players to watch during Eagles open training camp practice at Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia is set to start a sold out open training camp practice at Lincoln Financial Field and we're looking at ten players to watch The Eagles are the biggest show in the NFL, and that was proven when tickets for Sunday's open practice at the 67,594-seat Lincoln Financial Field sold out. Philadelphia has two joint practice sessions with the Browns on Tuesday and Wednesday, but first up is the fan-held event that'll benefit the Eagles Autism Foundation. It'll be treated like every other training camp practice, meaning video and critical analysis will be restricted to the pre-practice routine and individual drills. With the massive event set to begin, we're looking at ten players to watch. QB Jalen Hurts Lincoln Financial Field is sold out, and while fans love Saquon Barkley, there's no more popular Eagle than the Super Bowl MVP and star quarterback. RB Saquon Barkley The reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year is as big a star as Jalen Hurts, and fans are turning out in droves to see Barkley make cuts and potentially leap buildings. RB ShunDerrick Powell The rookie has feet like a ballet dancer, and the Darren Sproles clone will get to put on a show in front of fans after his Week 1 debut. WR Darius Cooper An undrafted free agent wide receiver out of FCS, Tarleton State, Cooper has been a training camp standout and dominated the Bengals with six catches on seven targets for 82 yards and a touchdown. Fans will be watching to see if he can crack the Eagles' depth chart. OL Myles Hinton The former Michigan offensive tackle is a massive specimen, and the open practice gives Hinton another opportunity to carve out a role as the Eagles' swing tackle. LB Jihaad Campbell The first-round pick is one of the biggest stars on the team, and half of New Jersey is expected to make the trip to Lincoln Financial Field to see the hero return. CB Kelee Ringo After getting baptized by Ja'Marr Chase during the preseason opener, Ringo will need to show that his swagger is still on 100% and still engaged in the cornerback competition. DB Cooper DeJean DeJean may be the biggest star on the defensive side of the football. DB Andrew Mukuba The rookie from Texas can use a good start to his week, and if Mukuba wants to unseat Sydney Brown, Sunday night offers his first opportunity. OLB Josh Uche The talented pass rusher wears the jersey No. ,0 and Eagles fans will be watching to see if it's earned.
