Siksika woman thankful to be alive after hit-and-run kills two people, injures another
It was supposed to be a family walk on Saturday night—but it turned deadly with two men killed and a woman sent to hospital in critical condition.
RCMP say five people were walking along the roadway when they were run over by a vehicle.
Family have identified the deceased as Trayton Running Bird, 27, and Clifton Saddle Back, 45.
Emiline Turning Robe, 45, was taken to hospital.
'No one deserves to die like that. No one ever, ever deserves to get taken and left like that,' said Sade Panther Bone in an interview with CTV News.
'I want them to have justice. They deserve it; they really do.'

Panther Bone is the daughter of Turning Robe and was in a relationship with Running Bird.
She says she has lost the love of her life, who was a father and who recently proposed to her.
Panther Bone says the incident was a purposeful attack.
'I know exactly who they are, and they know what they did because right after they hit him, they just stuck their finger and laughed at me and drove off,' said Panther Bone.
'How could someone so evil do that to you?'
Panther Bone says there were at least three people in the vehicle, which she describes as a dark-grey Toyota pickup truck.
'I heard the engine rev; I had a feeling,' she said.
'I was like, you guys, we should get out of the way, get in the field. I feel like they're going to hit us. We scattered and we ran, and that truck intentionally came and he tried to clip all five of us. Me and my friend got out of the way. He hit my mom, her boyfriend and my husband was last.'
Panther Bone says her family and the group in the pickup truck were involved in an altercation earlier that night.
She says she and her friend are thankful to be alive, but she is grieving the losses of both men and the injuries her mom suffered.
'Someone was watching us because I was beside my mom and her boyfriend, and my friend was beside my husband, and I don't know how we did not (get hit) because they intentionally drove off the road, and they were trying to hit all five of us and me and my friend were the safest ones,' said Panther Bone.
'It was just a little traumatic to see them like that.'
She says she is now seeking justice for Running Bird and Saddle Back.
Her cousin, Brenna Little Light, says the tragedy has shaken the entire family.
'Just a lot of anger and sadness, as expected,' said Little Light.
RCMP say one person has been arrested and charges are pending.
The truck has also been recovered.
RCMP are interested in speaking with anyone who has video footage of the area of 54 Map 3 Subdivision between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact the Gleichen RCMP at 403-734-3923.

Death of man found in yard of Brandon home deemed suspicious
The death of a 35-year-old man found in the yard of a home in Brandon, Man., is considered suspicious, police say. Brandon police were called to a home on the 600 block of Ninth Street, between McTavish and Van Horne avenues, just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday with a report of a dead person found in the yard of the residence. On Friday morning, police tape and Brandon Community Cadet vehicles could be seen around a home on the block. The circumstances and injuries the man had suffered led officers to deem his death suspicious, the Brandon Police Service said in a Friday news release. Police identified him as a 35-year-old man, but said his name will not be released at this time. The investigation into the man's death continues and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, Friday's release said. No further details are available, according to police. They're asking anyone with information to contact police at 204-729-2345 or report a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 204-727-8477 (TIPS).

Fredericton advances its Community Safety Task Force
The City of Fredericton announced it is advancing its Community Safety Task Force to enhance crime prevention and enforcement along with mobile outreach services for vulnerable residents. 'As Fredericton grows, so does our commitment to building a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and heard,' said councillor Eric Megarity, chair of the city's standing committee on public safety. 'I am pleased to see council responding quickly and effectively to residents' concerns by advancing key safety recommendations through investments in policing, improved trail lighting, public safety cameras, and other important initiatives.' The mayor's Community Safety Task Force brought 18 representatives from government, health care, residents, non-profit organizations and businesses to discuss community concerns surrounding safety. The representatives focused on justice, policing, mental health, addictions and homelessness. The committee then received a progress update on task force recommendations on Thursday with 47 immediate and long-term actions to address the city's 'most pressing social challenges,' a news release from the city reads. The city says 12 of the recommendations are completed or in progress, including: creating a team to oversee task force recommendation implementation (complete) secure federal funding for security infrastructure (complete) create a 24/7 mobile outreach unit for vulnerable residents (complete) improve lighting on trails, transit stops and streets (in progress) add cameras at transit stops (in progress) increase police and security presence in business districts (in progress) develop a public safety camera strategy using residential/business footage (in progress) enhance Neighbourhood Watch programs (in progress) promote and provide support to business and residents to implement Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) program and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles (CPTED) (in progress) leverage the Fredericton Police Force's units to increase presence in high traffic areas (in progress) establish a dedicated unit for petty crime (in progress) research and develop a prolific offender strategy (in progress) 'We appreciate the commitment of our community partners, including Horizon Health and the provincial government to address root causes of harm caused by homelessness, mental health and substance abuse disorders,' said Steven Hart, the city's chief administrative officer and chair of the task force's oversight committee. 'Working together, the task force has identified real solutions to improve access to supportive, affordable housing and health services, which if delivered sufficiently, will directly and positively impact our residents and businesses.' The city says on top of these recommendations, it is investing in community-based crime prevention, enforcement and public safety education. Updates on the progress of the Community Safety Task Force recommendations will be available on a quarterly basis, and the next update is expected Oct. 2.
