In your feels? "The Friend" follows Naomi Watts as Iris, a solitary writer whose life is upended when she inherits a massive Great Dane from her late mentor (Bill Murray). As she bonds with the dog, she learns more about herself and the life she's been yearning to live.
Finally, horror fans can revisit a genre-defining classic with "Paranormal Activity." This found-footage phenomenon still packs a punch, tracking the increasingly terrifying events inside a couple's home after they set up a camera to capture what they believe is a haunting. What they find is, well, absolutely terrifying.

This tense psychological thriller stars Guy Pearce as Bruce Cogburn, a once-famous author forced out of his self-imposed retirement when he's bombarded with letters from an obsessive reader. Reluctantly pulled back into the spotlight, Cogburn sets off on a hunt to uncover the source of the messages, only to find himself caught up in a mind game that blurs the line between fiction and reality. The past that he tried to escape may very well be the only thing that can save him now.

Iris (Naomi Watts) is a New York writer whose quiet life is upended when her late mentor (Bill Murray) leaves her his Great Dane, Apollo. Initially overwhelmed, Iris slowly forms an unexpected bond with the dog, and it ends up taking her on a special journey of self-reflection and healing. Iris continues to connect to her new friend as he becomes a major part of her life, but she's soon forced to confront the parts of herself that she's been struggling to contain for a very long time.
Premieres August 25 on Paramount Plus
"Paranormal Activity" follows Katie (Katie Featherston) and Micah (Micah Sloat), a young couple settling into their new San Diego home, only to discover it's apparently haunted. Convinced Katie has been seeing ghosts since childhood, Micah rigs up a video camera in their bedroom to capture the nightly disturbances.
At first, they're subtle things like creaking doors, footsteps, but they slowly escalate into chilling noises, moving objects, and an increasingly evil presence. When a psychic warns that the entity is a demon feeding on fear, the couple gets more daring and the "paranormal activity" becomes even more terrifying. The perfect way to kick off spooky season early.

Alexi Lalas Responds to Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah: 'I Don't Feel Evil'

We are evil, but you respect us? That makes no sense at all. Let me set this all up. On the latest episode of the "Pulisic" series on Paramount+, Christian Pulisic (along with Tim Weah and Christian's father, Mark Pulisic) talked about criticism and comments made by former USMNT players-turned-pundits. Like myself. Here's what Christian said: "I'd say the most annoying thing, and for me, the biggest cop-out of all time, is when all the pundits want to say: 'They didn't want it. They didn't have the heart. You know, back in our day, we would fight, and we would die on that field.'" And what Weah said: "I think those guys are chasing clicks, and for me, I just feel like they're really evil, honestly, because they've been players, and they know what it's like when you're getting bashed. Those are the same guys that will turn around and shake your hand and try to be friendly with you at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I respect all of them. They were players I looked up to, but quite frankly, the guys before didn't win anything either." And then what Mark Pulisic said: "These guys want clicks on social media and subscribe to [their] channels, listen to [their] podcasts or whatever. I think they should look in the mirror and look at their last performances for the national team before they start talking s---." First and foremost, if you're going to accuse people of doing things for clicks and for attention or to watch a show, well played. That's exactly what you just did, and it's exactly what happened. A few things, though, about the comments. Number one: We are evil? That's a whole other level. I don't feel evil. I don't think that I am, and I don't think that any of the other guys that you may have been referring to are evil in our criticism. But if they were, I sure as hell wouldn't respect them. The "Pulisic" clip showed Landon Donovan, a USMNT legend who has shared his thoughts about the current team. Well, Donovan was part of the best U.S. World Cup team in history – they were a possible handball away from going to a semifinal in 2002. He also has a statue outside the LA Galaxy's stadium. So, Donovan surely has done a lot more than any of these players have ever done with the team. Also, don't bring your dad to a fight. I get that Mark Pulisic, like other dads out there, has been involved directly in bringing up, in this case, Christian. I get that he's a former coach. But who brings their dad to a fight? If you're angry at me or Landon or anybody else that is being critical of you, that's fine. You have a platform, you have a microphone – some would say bigger than anybody else out there – to get that off your chest, but you don't need to bring your dad. Never once has it even occurred to have my father defend me from the slings and arrows that are inevitable but well done. You got me to watch, and you got exactly what you wanted. For a team that has produced so much angst and concern over what's happening on and off the field, you should be doing anything to get into the good graces of an American public that is dying to love you and support you. Everything that you do that possibly puts you in a negative light and makes you look like the babies or the weaklings that you are accusing others of labeling you as. That's the problem. You can correct it ultimately on the field, and that's where the road meets the road. That's where your legacy, whatever it ends up being. You should be so lucky that it is even close to Landon Donovan – and that's where it's going to happen next summer at the World Cup. Alexi Lalas is a soccer analyst for FOX Sports and host of "Alexi Lalas' State of the Union Podcast." He represented the USMNT at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and had a nine-year professional career. In 2006, he became the president of the LA Galaxy and helped bring David Beckham to Major League Soccer. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? New ‘South Park' Season 27 Promo Confirms Episode 3 Release Date

South Park's X account has finally given some clarity as to when Season 27 Episode 3 is coming out, but what it will be about is anybody's guess. Created by and starring the voices of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park has been met with big ratings since Season 27 kicked off on July 23 on Comedy Central on cable and Paramount+ on streaming. The Paramount+ move from HBO Max — which streamed the series for the past five years — was part of Parker and Stone's new five-year $1.5 billion deal to produce 50 new episodes of South Park. In addition to the new and upcoming seasons, the first 26 seasons of South Park are now available on Paramount+. South Park Season 27 has already had two weeklong hiatus periods. After the premiere episode on July 23 — which lampooned President Donald Trump and Paramount Global— the show took its first hiatus and returned on Aug. 6 with an episode that mocked Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE. On Wednesday, the South Park X account finally confirmed that it was taking another week off and will be returning with the 27th Season's third episode on Wednesday, Aug. 20, on Comedy Central and Thursday, Aug. 21, on Paramount. During the week off, Comedy Central aired a marathon of South Park favorites, interviews from Parker and Stone's appearance at Comic Con in July, and wrapped up with a re-airing of the first episode of the series that originally aired on Aug. 13, 1997. Unlike the previous promotional video that South Park posted for its then-upcoming Season 27 Episode 2, the teaser for Episode 3 gives no real indication of what viewers can expect. The 'South Park' Season 27 Episode 3 Is A Short Highlight Reel Of Episode 2 The promotional video for South Park Season 27, Episode 3, released by the South Park X account on Wednesday (embedded above), played like a highlight reel of Episode 2, which has quick bits of footage of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as Mr. Rourke and Tattoo-like characters, a la Fantasy Island. Also highlighted in the promo is Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Mr. Mackay in an ICE raid on the ground and in heaven. The promo begins with Jesus flying in the clouds in heaven. As such, who or what Trey Parker and Matt Stone will skewer in Episode 3 on Aug. 20 remains a mystery. It's possible that the South Park X account will post some clues ahead of the airing of the show, like the duo did with a pair of photos featuring Noem and Mr. Mackay, as well as new podcaster Cartman posted on Aug. 5 to tease the Aug. 6 episode. South Park Season 27, Episode 3 is set to air on cable on Comedy Central on Wednesday, Aug. 20 and will begin streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, Aug. 21.

First Look at Jeremy Renner's MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN Season 4: New Cast, High Stakes, and an October Return — GeekTyrant

Paramount+ has officially locked in the premiere date for the highly anticipated fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown . Fans can mark their calendars for October 26, when Jeremy Renner returns as Mike McLusky in what looks to be his most intense chapter yet. Alongside the release date, Paramount+ also shared a few first-look photos teasing what's ahead, and one of them introduces a major new face. Edie Falco joins the gritty crime drama as the new warden of Anchor Bay Prison, setting the stage for a tense new dynamic as she goes head-to-head with McLusky. Season 4 raises the stakes in a big way. The official logline reveals: 'Mike's control over Kingstown is threatened as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians' wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town. 'Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new warden to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past.' The ensemble cast for Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 includes returning stars Lennie James, Laura Benanti, co-creator Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, the series is executive produced by Renner, showrunner Dave Erickson, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, and Keith Cox. If you've been waiting to see what comes next after that wild Season 3 ride, it looks like Mayor of Kingstown is coming back bigger and more intense than ever.
