Missing Oklahoma 2-year-old sold to meth dealer by mom, who had abused her with paddle and BB gun: report
A 2-year-old missing Oklahoma girl allegedly suffered a nightmare of abuse at the hands of her parents, who shot her with a BB gun, beat her with a paddle that had 'The Last Resort' written on it and finally sold her to a meth dealer, according to local reports. Ashley Ceejay Rowland, 39, and her boyfriend Joshua Denton, 40, were arrested on Aug. 5 in connection to the abuse against their poor tot London Kerr, who was last seen in the arms of the mother's methamphetamine dealer in 2022, according to The Oklahoman. Rowland confessed to police that she gave the poor child to a man identified as 'Carlos' in exchange for drugs, the report stated. That man claimed that he was going to travel to Mexico with the child. Before abandoning London, Rowland and Denton exacted cruel and vicious physical punishment on the toddler. 4 London Kerr was last seen in the arms of the mother's methamphetamine dealer in 2022. KFOR Teenage children of Rowland said she and her boyfriend would shoot the baby with BB guns, strike her with a wooden paddle, and lock her in a closet, the report stated, citing a criminal affidavit. While searching the couple's house, police discovered a wooden paddle with the phrase 'The Last Resort' written on it, the report stated. Denton's two teenage daughters said their dad force fed London a hot pepper and poured hot sauce in the child's eyes on more than one occasion, according to that affidavit. One of the sick-o's two teenage girls told investigators that Denton had previously sexually abused her, according to the report. Warren man accused of sending human trafficking messages while in custody at Oakland County Jail
A 33-year-old Warren, Michigan, man is facing three charges after he allegedly sent dozens of messages related to human trafficking while in custody at the Oakland County Jail. Ryan Ramone Wafford is charged with two counts of human trafficking and one count of accepting earnings from prostitution, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Saturday. Investigators say Wafford used phones, tablets and video calls at the jail to send "dozens of messages that were consistent with communications regarding human trafficking/forced sex labor activities" while he was in custody. He was allegedly in jail for violating his probation. The sheriff's office said he was arrested by a SWAT team on Friday at his home and that one of his victims and her child were there when he was apprehended. Wafford was arraigned on Saturday and received a $250,000 cash bond, according to the sheriff's office. "Even while in custody on unrelated charges, the suspect continued trying to direct and control others," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in the release. "Thanks to the persistence of our investigators, we were able to uncover this and rescue individuals from human trafficking." Suspect accused of killing Warren mom Ashley Elkins in court for preliminary exam
The man accused of killing Warren mother Ashley Elkins, who has been missing since January, was back in court Wednesday for Day 1 of the preliminary exam. DeAndre Booker stood before a judge, who at one point told Booker he could sit down. However, Booker remained silent and continued standing while glaring at each witness in the stand with a chilling smirk on his face. Elkins, 30, was reported missing in January. Booker, who investigators said was Elkins's ex-boyfriend, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, tampering with evidence, disinterment or mutilation of a dead body and concealing the death of an individual. He is also charged with lying to police in a related case. Elkins's body was never found. During Wednesday's hearing, multiple witnesses took the stand to testify, including Elkins's mother, Monica Elkins, a Warren police officer, a third witness the media has been asked not to show or identify out of a concern for safety, and another officer. While on the stand, Monica Elkins says she last heard from her daughter on Jan. 1. She claims she became worried when Elkins didn't respond to her numerous text messages or calls, which was unlike her. Monica Elkins says she went to Booker's apartment to see if her daughter was there. When asked why, Monica says her daughter was having financial problems, and Booker was one to help out. "When did this concern start? In the afternoon or evening?" asked the defense attorney. "It really started when she texted me 'Amen' and I called her, and she wouldn't answer the phone. That's when I got concerned," Monica Elkins said. "Why did you go to the defendant's apartment? How did you choose that location?" asked the prosecutor. "Because my daughter said Ashley's phone location was there at the time," Monica Elkins said. It was also pointed out in court that after Ashley Elkins was reported missing, the third witness said that at one point while on the phone with Booker, a former lover, she had seen police outside his apartment. He allegedly asked her if police were looking through the trash. Booker is due back in court on Aug. 8.
