The success of the songs has extended beyond her home country, capturing the attention of music fans abroad and becoming viral hits on social media.
Mimi, whose real name is Shamimi Amalina Norhisham, considers 'Serumpun' the biggest milestone of her career.
"After being active in the arts for almost two decades, my hard work has finally paid off.
"Both 'Angkat' and 'Serumpun' resonate with listeners and have brought me to this point. The collaboration on 'Serumpun' with legendary Indian composer Vidyasagar was a huge moment.
"I never expected this opportunity. I got into music out of passion, not because I had a lofty dream to chase. I just hoped my music would be accepted."
Mimi is set to perform as a special guest singer at the Vidyasagar Revisit Concert at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Sept 6.
Mimi, who is also a member of the group One Nation Emcees, said her new-found success has gained her a following among Indian fans, who often send her direct messages on Instagram.
"I now have non-Malay, specifically Indian, fans who have come forward to show their support for my songwriting. They've told me how much they love the song 'Serumpun'.
"I can only be grateful to God for the good fortune He has given me and for making my mother and family happy.
"I still live with my mother and care for her, so all my hard work is to ensure her happiness."
Asked about her aspirations for awards and nominations, Mimi said she would be grateful if she won, but wouldn't be sad if she didn't.
"I just go with the flow. Rezeki comes from God. Only He knows if we will be successful or not.
