Deal in Iraq to resume oil exports from Kurdistan

The Iraqi government announced Thursday an agreement to resume oil exports from the autonomous region of Kurdistan (north), after more than two years of interruption due to drone attacks on oil fields.
The Kurdistan Regional Government "will immediately begin delivering all oil produced" in its fields to the Iraqi State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO) "for export," the government stated in a press release. The quantity must not be less than 230,000 barrels per day, and Baghdad will pay $16 per barrel in advance, according to the statement.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri cabled Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, offering his deepest condolences for the fallen victims of the tragic fire that broke out in a shopping mall in the city of Kut in Iraq's Wasit Governorate. "With feelings of sadness and sympathy, we received the news of the painful tragedy that befell Iraq as a result of the horrific fire that occurred in the city of Kut in Wasit Governorate, where dozens of people were killed and wounded. In the name of the Lebanese people and the Parliament, I share with you, the brotherly Iraqi people, and the families of the victims the sincerest condolences, asking God Almighty to have mercy upon the victims, to grant the wounded speedy recovery, and to bless Iraq with security, safety, and stability,' Speaker Berri said in his cable. Speaker Berri also sent a similar cable to Iraqi Parliament Speaker, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.
