Lord Voldermort Casting Odds Latest: Here are the 9 actors in the frame to play the Dark Lord in the Harry Potter TV reboot
The series will debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max - including in the UK where the channel is set to launch.
An open casting call for young actors from the UK and Ireland was held last year - resulting in the new Harry, Ron and Hermione being cast, along with other younger characters such as Lavender Brown and Neville Longbottom.
They join a cast of established actors who will once again bring the wizarding world of Hogwarts alive.
It will be written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, whose previous screen credits include His Dark Materials, The Rook and The Man in the High Castle.
Meanwhile Edinburgh-based author J.K. Rowling is on board as an executive producer.
While we know who will play the majority of the main characters, there's still no word on who will play the evil Lord Voldermort - portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in the films.
Here are the 9 actors the bookies reckon are in the frame for the role.
1 . Cillian Murphy - 2/1
The 2/1 favourite to play the Dark Lord is Cillian Murphy, who last year won a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in 'Oppenheimer'. He would certainly be a real coup for the casting team. | Getty Images Photo Sales
2 . Tom Hiddleston - 9/4
No stranger to huge franchaises - or with playing baddies - English actor Tom Hiddleston is best known for playing trickster god Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He's 9/4 second favourite to become one of the most evil characters in the history of literature. | Getty Images Photo Sales
3 . Paul Bettany - 3/1
Famous for playing J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Paul Bettany have narrowed in recent weeks and he's now a 3/1 shot to be cast as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in arguably the world's second biggest franchaise. | Getty Images for Emirates Photo Sales
4 . George MacKay - 4/1
'Sunshine on Leith' star George Mackay wasn't even in the running a month ago, but now he's 4/1 fourth favourite to take over from Ralph Fiennes. | Getty Images Photo Sales

Warner Bros to get studio business after split, Discovery to house news, sports brands
July 28 (Reuters) - Warner Bros Discovery (WBD.O), opens new tab said the two companies created by the separation of its studio, streaming and cable TV units would be named Warner Bros and Discovery Global, unwinding a merger in less than four years due to seismic shifts in the entertainment industry. Warner Bros will house the crown jewels of WBD's entertainment library, including Warner Bros and DC Studios as well as the HBO Max streaming service, the company said in a statement. The global networks division will include its cable networks, CNN and TNT Sports as well as the Discovery+ streaming service, which will be called Discovery Global. The split, which would create two publicly traded companies, was announced in June and is expected to be completed by demerges WarnerMedia and Discovery, with an aim to grow the streaming and studios business without the drag of the declining networks unit. Like other entertainment companies, WBD is struggling with declining ratings and revenue at its cable networks. Consumers have been dropping pay-television subscriptions in favor of streaming services. The breakup is the latest unraveling of decades of media consolidation that created global conglomerates spanning content creation, distribution and in some cases, telecommunications. Comcast (CMCSA.O), opens new tab is spinning off most of its NBCUniversal cable networks portfolio into a separate company, Versant. Lionsgate Entertainment (LION.N), opens new tab completed the separation of its Starz cable network from its film and television studio in May.

EastEnders' Kellie Bright says 'it's hard enough as it is' amid TV confession
Kellie Bright first joined EastEnders in October 2013 (Image: Getty Images for BAFTA) Kellie Bright has shared a candid confession about her time growing up in front of the cameras, declaring that it's a "hard enough time as it is" going through puberty without doing it in the public eye. In a recent chat with fellow soap icon Natalie Cassidy on an episode of the Life with Nat podcast, Kellie, best known for playing Linda Carter in the long-running BBC Soap, revealed that she'd known Natalie for about 11 years. It turns out that Kellie, who first joined EastEnders in October 2013, shares a common background with the host; they've both appeared on TV since they were children. The actress revealed that people would mention that they remembered her from shows such as 1985's 'T-Bag' or 'The Upper Hand', where she appeared from 12 to 18.' It's a hard enough time as it is." Natalie then burst into laughter, noting that they did "actually live out" their puberty on TV. Kellie has appeared on TV since she was a child (Image: Getty Images) Reminiscing about the time, Kellie added: "But it was normal, right? For you and me, it was our normal, so in no way did I ever question it or think, 'Ooh, this is a bit strange or odd or different." She explained that it was "just the way it was" at the time and that it was only in "hindsight" when she had children of her own who reached a similar age to her as a child actor that she thought, "Goodness me." Kellie went on to add that when she imagines her children working "in that world", she thinks "no, no, no". It follows reports that Kellie has announced a new career venture away from Albert Square. The British Soap Award winner announced that she had ventured into the world of crafts, posting on Instagram that she'd launched a creativity and craft club for adults. She explained that it would be a "sanctuary for like minded folks" and looked forward to uniting people via their shared passions. In the caption announcing the news, she noted that it was a project "many years" in the making. Crochet, sewing, knitting, absolutely anything and everything creative. I want the space to be a place of sanctuary for like minded folks." Kellie went on to say that she hoped it would be a place to "quieten a busy mind" and embrace "what it is to be part of a community". She added that her own love of the pursuit has helped her calm her "overactive brain".
