ROSHN Group CMO on what marketers should prioritise in 2025

Saudi Arabia's ROSHN Group, a leading multi-asset class real estate developer and a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, which unveiled a new visual identity and strategic focus in November 2024, was recently recognised with the Top Google Cloud Customer Award at LEAP 2025.
Setting the tone for the year ahead, Campaign Middle East spoke to the Group Chief Marketing Officer of ROSHN, Ghada AlRumayan, who was also recognised as the Marketing Leader of the Year at the 2024 Athar Awards in Riyadh.
During the conversation, AlRumayan discussed what marketers should prioritise in 2025, whether AI is a boon or a bane, and her top learnings from A/B testing at scale during 2024.
Here's are excerpts from the full interview conducted with the Group CMO of ROSHN.
According to you, what should marketers prioritise in 2025 and why?
AlRumayan: Marketers need to prioritise two aspects of their work. First is adopting a data-driven approach, ensuring they leverage the right information to guide their decision-making. Second, they should be able to analyse that data, leveraging consumer insights derived from both qualitative and quantitative research.
By using data to identify demand and understand customer behaviour, marketers can align their strategies with real-time market needs. Add onto this market trends, and you will have the deep understanding required to build campaigns and communications that excite your customers and grow your bottom line.
The universal truth is that the more effectively you leverage data to understand your customers, the more impactful your marketing will become.
With the pressure rising to deliver stronger returns with leaner budgets, is AI a boon or a bane?
AlRumayan: I see AI as a tool that will complement our creativity, and which will enable us to do more in a shorter space of time. Be it text, imagery or video, AI offers us all an opportunity to create differently in addition to being able to better understand our audiences.
However, AI is only as powerful as our own imagination, and we need to ensure that we do not become over-reliant on AI-based tools. There is also the question of bias and how AI tackles this. AI is already part of the marketing mix, we just need to use it sensibly.
⁠What top learnings from A/B testing at scale during 2024 are we taking into 2025?
AlRumayan: There are a number of interesting learnings here, and I would start with AI. We are using AI tools to interpret our customer data, to better predict demand, personalise messaging based on historical data, and optimise our campaign performance.
AI allows us to work at a much faster pace in terms of both testing and analysing marketing effectiveness. The scale at which we can now work will transform marketing.
Another change last year was the Personal Data Protection Law, which came into force. This has had and will continue to have implications for how we all store and use personal data.

The accounting move reflects cost overruns, delays and shifting market conditions for projects such as NEOM, the desert mega-city nearly the size of Belgium intended to house nearly nine million people on the Red Sea. NEOM has repeatedly faced implementation challenges and delays, with sources telling Reuters the project has been scaled back as the kingdom prioritises infrastructure essential to hosting global sporting events, like the 2034 World Cup. "A more targeted investment programme and with longer timelines is actually positive given the weaker oil revenue backdrop, and the large hosting event that Saudi has won. These were won after Vision 2030 was designed and will need significant investment," Monica Malik, Chief Economist, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank. "The recalibration is also important to contain the misallocation of resources and cost pressures of the projects," she said. The revision is a stark acknowledgment that the kingdom's transformation blueprint is running up against financial and practical realities, coming at a sensitive time for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 agenda, which hinges on diversifying Saudi Arabia's oil-dependent economy. This growth cements PIF's position as one of the world's largest and fastest-growing sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), driven by a long-term investment strategy and a mission to diversify Saudi Arabia's economy, According to its recently released 2024 annual report, the fund delivered an average total portfolio return of 7.2 per cent annually since 2017. Total revenue climbed by 25 per cent, while its cash reserves remained strong and virtually unchanged from the previous year, highlighting PIF's stable liquidity position. 'Capital deployment across priority sectors hit $56.8bn in 2024, bringing cumulative investment since 2021 to over $171bn. Driving non-oil economic growth Between 2021 and 2024, 'PIF deepened its impact throughout 2024, continuing to drive Saudi Arabia's economic transformation while delivering sustainable returns,' said Maram Al Johani, Acting Chief of Staff and Secretary General to the Board. The fund ended 2024 with 225 portfolio companies, of which 103 were established by PIF itself. This demonstrates the fund's hands-on approach in building industries from the ground up. Additionally, PIF pushed development in strategic sectors by backing national champions, promoting localisation, expanding technical capabilities, and fostering innovation within its investment portfolio. Tech-driven efficiency and global expansion PIF's digital transformation accelerated in 2024, evolving into what it calls 'digital leadership.' The fund completed 58 digital projects, launched 15 new applications, and automated more than 477 internal processes. These efforts are helping create insights, enhance strategic decision-making, and unlock new sources of economic value. Internationally, PIF expanded its investment footprint by deploying long-term, high-impact capital into strategic global markets. These investments aim to diversify its portfolio and returns, while also fostering relationships with tech innovators, investment managers, and global partners shaping the future economy. Credit upgrades, governance milestones, and brand recognition PIF's financial strength was further validated by credit rating upgrades. Moody's raised its rating to Aa3 (from A1), while Fitch reaffirmed its A+ rating, both with stable outlooks. The fund also raised $9.83bn in public debt and $7bn in private debt in 2024, continuing its focus on diversifying funding sources. On the governance front, PIF achieved a 96 per cent score on Global SWF's 2024 Governance, Sustainability, and Resilience (GSR) Scoreboard. By 2025, it tied for the top global spot with a perfect 100 per cent score among 200 sovereign investors. Brand Finance, the leading independent brand valuation firm, ranked PIF as the most valuable and fastest-growing brand among all SWFs, assigning it an A+ rating. As it looks ahead, PIF is poised to play an even greater role in reshaping Saudi Arabia's economic landscape, both at home and on the world stage.

PIF deployed $56.8bn across strategic sectors in 2024, bringing total investment since 2021 to more than $171bn. PIF growth in Saudi Arabia The fund now manages 225 portfolio companies, having created 103 of them, and continues to establish national champions across sectors including tourism, energy, infrastructure, and technology. PIF also accelerated its digital transformation, completing 58 digital projects, launching 15 new applications, and automating more than 477 processes. Artificial intelligence and automation are now central to operations, enabling faster decision-making and new value creation. PIF's international investments continued to grow, targeting high-impact opportunities in innovative companies, strategic sectors, and emerging technologies. To support this, the fund diversified its financing sources — raising $9.83bn in public debt and $7bn in private debt — and maintained a strong liquidity position. PIF's credit strength was recognised globally: Moody's upgraded its rating to Aa3 with a stable outlook, while Fitch affirmed an A+ rating, also with a stable outlook. In 2024, PIF achieved a 96 per cent score on the Global SWF Governance, Sustainability and Resilience (GSR) Scoreboard, and in 2025 tied for first place globally with 100 per cent, ranking among 200 sovereign investors.
