ryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies has been activated from the 10-day injured list. The two-time MVP has missed out on 22 matches for right wrist inflammation since June 6.
A good indicator came over the weekend when Harper, who joined the team at Atlanta, took some live batting practice on Saturday at Truist Park and appeared ready. Phillies manager Rob Thomson said to the Associated Press,
'He was great. Looked like he got his bat speed, and his timing looked fine.'
Bryce Harper's return from
wrist injury
boosts Phillies' lineup
The 32-year-old Bryce Harper played in 57 games this season before his right wrist injury. Although he attempted to play through it for a while, the pain ultimately became too much, and he was placed on the injured list.
The Phillies went 12-9 without him, still afloat in the tightly packed waters of the National League.
Statistically, Bryce Harper has a respectable slashline of .258/ .368/ .446 this season with .814 OPS. He has 9 HRs, 34 RBIs, 13 doubles, 35 walks, 32 runs, and 8 steals in 253 plate appearances. And since the Phillies are in the midst of a gauntlet stretch that will make them face a significant number of teams still jockeying for playoff positioning, it was going to be so vital for the Phils to get him back into the lineup.

Roster move sees Buddy Kennedy designated for assignment
The Phillies removed infielder Buddy Kennedy to create space for Bryce Harper on the 26-man active roster. Kennedy, a South Jersey product from Millville, made just four appearances following his contract being selected on June 19. The 26-year-old had been tearing it up at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with a .283 average with 8 homers, 40 RBIs, and a .835 OPS in 61 games before his short major league promotion.

The Arizona Diamondbacks took Kennedy in 2017, and the Phillies traded for him from the Detroit Tigers in June 2024. He's not likely to be occupying a spot in Philadelphia for long, but based on how well he performed in the minors, he may have a permanent spot in the bigs in his future. Now, attention turns to Bryce Harper, making his return to Citizens Bank Park, where he will re-stabilize the Phillies lineup as the club opens an important game against the Padres.

NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers might be signing $18 million Los Angeles Clippers star to support LeBron James and Luka Doncic
LeBron James and Luka Doncic (Image via Getty) The Los Angeles Clippers signed veteran center Brook Lopez on the first day of his free agency. However, the Los Angeles Lakers had emerged as a top suitor. Lopez, a key piece of Milwaukee's 2021 championship run, could be heading back to Los Angeles, where he played during the 2017-18 season, had the Clippers not bagged him. Los Angeles Lakers Prioritizing Lopez Over Deandre Ayton Despite recent links to Deandre Ayton following his contract buyout with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Lakers appear more focused on pursuing Brook Lopez. According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, Los Angeles is "zeroing in on veteran big man Brook Lopez," signaling their intent to add a proven floor-spacing center. The Lakers' need for a reliable big man is clear, and Lopez fits the bill with his ability to stretch the floor and provide veteran leadership. Why Milwaukee Would Not Retain Brook Lopez Giannis and LeBron (Image via Getty) At 37 years old, Brook Lopez was expected to seek a contract above the veteran minimum—a price the Bucks may not be willing to match. Milwaukee is reportedly looking to get younger as they retool around Giannis Antetokounmpo , making Lopez's return unlikely. What Lopez Brings to the Los Angeles Lakers If Lopez joins the Los Angeles Lakers, he would provide: - Reliable three-point shooting from the center position - Strong rim protection and defensive IQ - Veteran presence for a team in win-now mode As Joe Mayo noted in the original report, "The Lakers desperately need help at center, and Lopez can space the floor while providing veteran leadership." (H/t: Sporting News) Likely Lopez's Last Major Contract Entering his 18th NBA season, this could be Lopez's final opportunity to secure a lucrative deal. With the Los Angeles Lakers aiming to contend in what might be LeBron James ' last season, Lopez could play a crucial role in their championship push. NHL Trade News: Boston Bruins secure Michael DiPietro in surprise $800K-a-year deal as goalie carousel spins
Bruins secured goaltender Michael DiPietro with a two-year, $1.625 million contract (Image via Just when it looked like Boston might lose one of its most promising netminders to free agency, the Bruins made a decisive move—re-signing goaltender Michael DiPietro to a two-year contract worth $812,500 per season. Totaling $1.625 million, the deal ensures that the 25-year-old AHL standout remains in the fold, anchoring Boston's goaltending pipeline and signaling a strong vote of confidence in his future. Boston Bruins lock down Michael DiPietro with over $800k deal Michael DiPietro, once buried in Vancouver's system during the chaotic pandemic-era seasons, saw his career revitalized after a 2022 trade to the Bruins. His breakout 2024–25 campaign with the Providence Bruins was nothing short of dominant: a .927 save percentage, 2.05 goals-against average, and a 26-8-7 record earned him AHL All-Star honors and the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award as the league's top goaltender. With Group VI UFA eligibility looming, DiPietro had become one of the hottest names among available goalies. As ESPN's Kevin Weekes noted, he was 'the top goalie available among Group 6 free agents.' The Bruins' front office clearly agreed, choosing to act before the July 1 deadline. Boston doubles down on stability with a flurry of strategic re-signings But DiPietro wasn't the only one staying put. Boston also extended several core young players ahead of the 2025–26 season, showcasing a commitment to internal development over splashy free-agent signings. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Among the biggest deals: forward Morgan Geekie inked a six-year, $33 million extension after a strong campaign with increased minutes and power-play impact. Defenseman Mason Lohrei, a rising blue-line presence, received a two-year, $6.4 million deal as the team preps him for top-four duties. The team also re-signed Johnny Beecher ($900K for one year), Henri Jokiharju (three years, $3 million AAV), and Marat Khusnutdinov (two years, $925K AAV), among others. These depth moves reflect a calculated strategy of cap control, chemistry, and trust in the Bruins' system.
